Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Woot! It got announced!!! (Nintendo DSi)

ok. we are done talking about Piracy.
--------------------------------------
The feature i am most looking forward to is the DSi App store.

and from what i read today, if you buy Nintendo points you get them for the DSi store or wii. they dont share.
so you cannot buy a DSi app and Wii app on the same 1000 points. you have to buy 1000 for each system.

Who cares if it's a joke. The law is the law. And if we're gonna go into ethics, no I'm sorry, I don't see how obtaining a copy of something, weather you made it yourself, or downloaded it, or what-have-you, is morally any different. By that logic I can do what I want with my computer, which, hey, includes obtaining all of those products even if I don't own them first hand.

Well, I'm sure I could go into all the things about it being a bad law and how only dumb people would listen to it and stuff, but whatever, I get the feeling it wouldn't matter (and it is off-topic).

Back on topic, I'm seriously considering importing one of these DSi (why wait however many months till they release it here), anyone know if they're region-free as well?

It is region-locked, but only for the software you would download. Games still operate because they're not region-coded in the first place.

Meh...well, that would suck a bit I guess...may as well wait till others import it, so I can get the 411 on what's available or not.

Hmmm SD card slot...programs that disable region-locked that can run on SD cards........hmmmmmmm oh if only there was a way to combine two things electronically! (not that any Japanese thing is worth playing without understanding what it says)

The DS has become the PSP.
Flashcards will die because a softmod will become the choice.
Nintendo had just killed the flashcart, by making a Softmod possible DS.
I think they planned this.
It will have a updatable firmware over wifi to kill softmods....
Its seems like a risky move.

Likely, they probably overhauled their security some to prevent mass softmods or whatever. But even then, it's not like masses of people are gonna use them, most probably don't know how anyways.

uh you ever heard of a game caled Jump allstars... it's the manga version of smash brothers....finally naruto vs bleach...

Jump UltimateStars. I have that on my flashcart. Translated. =]

WHAT you have it translated!!!!!!! MAN if it wasn't illeagl for you to make me a copy i would ask you to... But since it is... i will just NOT ask You for a copy, because i dont want to break the law just to play a cool game that is unavailable to me because , for some reason SOMEWHERE in the red tape thats called "Corprate America" they decided there was no market for it(prolly the same people who decided they should drag out the dragonball z saga for 20 years...) so they just didnt spend the license money to bring it to my local walmart....but hey a least i can play great games like Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shop...

I don't think they decided that there wasn't a market for it; I think what the problem was is that multiple companies own the licenses to the various shows, so it would take alot of money and alot of royalties to convince each and every company, and it just isn't worth it financially.

Battery life is not going to that big a deal. We can all just go to Game Stop and get a DS battery and replace it if it fits which I'm sure it does. Its still kind of cool that they are doing this. 2 Cameras in it, a 3.0 mpx and a .5 mpx. I was going to get a PSP but now that the DSi can do some of that. I'll just get that. Nice going Nintendo, your on the right track. Its about time they can appeal to us older people.

First off DS Batteries are best to be bought from Nintendo as they are the only makers Official 100% Compatible batteries. Anyways Gamestop doesn't even sell DS batteries. Second the DSi actually has 1 camera it just has both built in. It's like Camera Phones. And lastly what do you mean appeal to older people. It appeals to me and I'm 18.

Well wait, there's 2 cameras, aren't they? Both have different megapixels and such...

And btw, I'm sure the one guy was referring older people to being 18 and over, since the DS was aimed more at kids before the touch generation games came out.

Well technically he doesn't even have a Legal version. Also over in Japan few companies own the Animes so it is easy to get licenses, BUT here in the US those Animes owned by a few companies are owned by nearly 4 to 5 times as many companies that don't like to talk to each other. I own a game for my Import PS2 that fills the TV screen with Copyrights. I think there is like 15. If there is 15 in Japan just think how many there would be in the US. It would be like Gran Tourismo. The game is Super Robot Wars Alpha 3. The series has a huge fan group here in the US but due to the Copyright Complications the game will never be released outside of Japan. Also Cartridge Games have NO region codes. I can play Imported DS and GBA games on my US DS Lite. The game also won't be released because of popularity issues.

The price for the DSi hasn't even been set yet and it releases on November 1.

Popularity is irrelevant...what's relevant here is the projected profit which will be incredibly small due to all the royalties. For the record, I do own Jump SuperStars and Jump UltimateStars in their Japanese cartridge form. Clearly, them being translated is better, so I play that version more often.

But how is it translated? The only way is to hack the game to alter the text inside the game. Also popularity is an issue for most games in Japan. We Americans really don't care to much about education games but in Japan they must have over 50 DS Titles dealing with education. I don't think they would sell to well over here and in this case there would be royalties as it would be just one company. Popularity is always an issue when deciding whether or not to introduce a game in another country. Jump Ultimate Stars is a good game but the only people who will buy it are people who read the mangas or watch the anime and the game would bring in a fairly small amount of new gamers into the industry.

Lol...multiple companies own the rights to mangas in the US. Sure, in Japan Shonen owns it all, but that's not true in US, so yes, royalties will be paid. And yeah the game I'm playing is a patch, calling it a hack is a bit misleading as I hold no advantage over anyone except I can read what the character's name is and such

I think the DSi will be a huge seller once someone figures out how to mess around with it.
That is one of the reasons PSP has sold so many.
