The sad thing is that I've only been seeing the whining on the Gym... NO WHERE else have I seen anyone gripe about prizes or anything really.. :-/

EA has sponsored tournaments for every single game they make. The largest one is always the Madden Challenge. One in every city for $10k to first place, plus a Pro Bowl ticket and flight!
Ummm, yeah, you're talkin' US, right? I have a hard time believing this goes on in "every" city - or for even one city in every State, let alone other countries ie Canada.

so if we want this game to be more like others why not have all top cutting decks list made public the day after the event? would every one be ok with that? or is it only an i want more for me not everyone else thread?

With the prizes they get, who the heck cares? For what I get, no way would I want them to post my list.

We want more because THEY KEEP CUTTING PRIZES. How is that so hard to understand?

STOP LIEING TO US PLEASE, WE'RE TIRED OF IT! Seriously, you guys would make a great politicians. You say that the Japanese card thing is for "translation issues" when anyone with half a brain can see that it's for money reasons. Now you call the latest prize cut "spreading around the prizes". Please stop giving us the credit for the inteligence of a gullible little 5yr old.

Why am I mad? Because I HATE it when people try to make what they're doing "sound better" than it is. If you're going to cut prizes, JUST COME UP AND SAY IT. If you need more money and need to ban JPN cards as a result, TELL IT TO MY FACE. Don't go around covering everything up to make your selves look better. All it does is make POP look really shady, and like it cares nothing for the players. Sadly, I'm starting to believe that it actually does care nothing for the players. I very much hope that I'm proven wrong.

It's a shame to hear about POP cutting the prizes. But I suppose it's par for the course considering the economic situation. I'd personally like to see POP go to some extra lengths to try and bring new players into the game. This way the support could go up and thus the prizes could slowly begin to increase again.

To be fair, you did say this in another thread:
Want to make me and everyone else happy? Prove us wrong and offer better prize support for states.
Sounds like the argument of a 5-year-old. :/

STOP LIEING TO US PLEASE, WE'RE TIRED OF IT! ... Now you call the latest prize cut "spreading around the prizes".
Is it really that hard to believe that there are more events now than there were before, and that OP is spending money on events in new areas or improving events in other areas?

I was going to ask you to stop, the whining is getting embarrassing. However, I will instead challenge that college mind of yours. You know what would really help your case? Numbers. Get the number of BRs and CCs and find out their prize support between 2 years ago and last year. How many medals? How many booster packs? When you get to the S/P/T level, start factoring in travel allowances and scholarships. A spreadsheet ought to do the trick.

I'm going to play devil's advocate darth, the question for you is this. Does increasing prize support increase sales? Now this might be an obvious yes, but what is it that you attribute pokemon's growth to? Is it that nintendo is increasing op? or is it that platinum was released this year and the video game grew the card game through association? Is there some factor that we're not looking at that increases sales that isn't related or organized play.

DarthPika, I'm trying very hard to be tactful here, so please don't get me wrong. I'm only posting this in your best interests. Your post is very whiney, throwing accusations at POP without any substantiated facts. If anything, you just proved DarkMagnus' point in the eyes of many readers. If you want change - good change - you need to be reasoned, and well thought out in your replies, and give constructive advice, not slaps in the face. Reality check here bud - you don't really think POP will reply to a post like that do you? Shaking a brandished pitchfork, and getting ready to impale the people at POP will do no real good. I'm 'telling it to your face': lose the attitude, stop blurting out every last idea that comes into your head, without any control, and tactfully try to pursuade people, and you'll have much better success.

Pokemon prizes are divided over 3 divisions, vs. 1 for Magic and Yugioh. And do you really want to say with the figures that have been thrown around several times that we're NOT getting spoiled?

Also, you got to pay about 10 times as much to reach the same level in those two games as you do in Pokemon.
Other people with more knowledge of MTG/YGO already made the points I wanted, so I don't have to explain myself.

DarthPika, I'm trying very hard to be tactful here,

Oh, I'll pick up on that for you. You're welcome, sir. : )

You sound like my ex-girlfriend. Stop it. It's getting to the point where I'm thinking that stuffing as many pens into my eyes as possible is a better alternative to reading your rabble. Listening to her constant whining is how I lost my hearing (one of the pens was a bit too greasy), so please, for my sake, stop.

Intelligent post as usual.

Again, you're welcome.

I'll say this, and the increase of leagues. At least in Virginia, there are more leagues than ever before. More leagues means more places for people to play and bring their friends. I have a league where there are groups of friends who know each other from school come in and play.

Parents come into league, at a library, and ask me "where can I buy cards?" and "where can I get those plastic things you put around the cards?" In my experience, Leagues push sales.

Thanks DarthPika, I'm sure everyone appreciates it.

Oh I just love to be misquoted.

Again, you're welcome.
 Well, at least you gave me a good laugh, thanks.

THIS /THREAD

Wow, I leave for a few days and someone who isn't ignored by everyone sums up my thoughts on the issue. 10/10 post here.

I'm not, its completely correct. If you disagree, tell me why; proove it wrong.

Can you 'proove' that any of THOSE statements are correct?

Unless you have secret insider information (which I doubt), then the answer is no.

You are just choosing to take a cynical view of POP's motives because you are disillusioned with the company, or because you think it makes you seem more intelligent or grown up somehow. If you have any actual evidence (not just assumptions), then that would make interesting reading.

Until then, all you have is an opinion with nothing much to support it.

I don't really have much to say in this thread, but I'm in 100% of revealing deck lists of major tournament winners, and I think deck lists should be included in reports as well. Great way to share creativity throughout the game, I feel.

Unsupported accusations without proof get more than one person in trouble. I could easily give a religious example to prove my point, but suffice it to say that Pat, you really don't want to follow that example. In other words, asking others to prove you wrong when you state an opinion is foolish. Everyone either has an opinion - or doesn't for that matter. Strongly held views sometimes are libelous/slanderous and really aren't based on facts - they could be though. For example, I could swear up and down that you are partial to (hmmm, trying hard to get a PG example here), ummm, eggs! I could research stats about your spending habits, even come to that conclusion from stalking you and staking out your purchases at the grocery store. Without any coroborating evidence from you (as if you really cared to bother giving me info as to your eating habits - they are irrelevant in your opinion, and don't reflect the real "you," so you don't care to tell anyone), I could very easily miss the point, and say or post my wrong opinion, when the reality of the situation is that you just like to make Angel Food Cake!

So Pat, I suppose I have to concede that it may be possible that your opinion may be based on an extremely small kernal of fact, yet the reality of the situation can be and is totally different. Don't require others to refute your opinion. It really is foolish on both your part, and theirs if they take the bait.
