Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon 2010 VGC Support & Discussion

We really need some dates/locations for qualifiers. I need to start asking off for work soon. :X

I hope you read this Mike...:frown:

Also, Ultimate, thanks for the cool thread. Hope to see you at Worlds again. :)

I will be there - as i am there every year. Now the question is if you do not win a trip, will you pay to go?

I'm hoping to enter my first VG Nats this year (I live in the UK, so it will probably be in London again.) Through reading this thread it seems as though all these Pokemon are a solid choice: Ludicolo, Kyogre with choice scarf, Palkia and Azelf. However, upon watching last years qualifier finals on Youtube it seems that Metagross, Weavile, Togekise and Toxicroak were all solid choices. I have therefore made an eartquake/explosion team, that consists of Metagross, Azelf, Gengar, Garchomp, Weavile and Togekiss. As I'm a tcg player and am just getting onto the vcg scene, so I know very little about the current VG format. Can anyone offer me some advice or tell me what I should be doing? Thanks guys,

Donez

VGC Team Help!

Hi. I'm not planing to win or anything but I want to havea fighting chance and get to at least round 3 at my local VGC Regionals. I seriously need help on what to use. These are the Pokemon I have to use:

lv.50 garchomp, dragon claw, eq, giga impact, swords dance

lv.50 gengar, destiny bond, psychic, shadow ball, focus blast

lv.50 porygon-z, hyper beam, discharge, blizzard. protect

lv.50 snorlax, giga impact, ice punch, body slam, rest

lv.100 wailord, hydro pump, blizzard, water spout, surf

lv.100 rayquaza, dragon claw, extreme speed, outrage, fly

lv.61 feraligatr, ice fang, hydro cannon, aqua tail, rock slide

lv.59 lugia, thunder, dragon pump, hydro pump, aeroblast

lv.50 zapdos, ancient power, thunder, protect, discharge

lv.50 groudon, rest, earthquake, stealth rock, eruption

lv.50 gyrados, thunder, aqua tail, avalanche, dragon dance

lv.60 kingdra, dragon pulse, surf, hydro pump, focus energy

So what of these should I use for my 6 poke team? Remamber this is a double battle 4 on 4 battle!
HELP!

Yay! Seattle's up again, and this time, more people can actually play! It's just I'm gonna lose... Double battle metagame isn't my thing. Oh, cool shiny Eevee.

at least they are giving the last chance so people who live in ohio/indiana/michigian don't have to drive 6+ hours to make it to a tourny. would still like to see more locations. but i'm happy they are accepting nearly 800 people per regionals for the senior division

I really think all non ubers will be
Garchomp- just too good not use
Metagross- counters all those trick room teams, and can handle the ubers
blissey- it's blissey enough said
empoleon- defensive stats, resistence to dragon and ice and great attacks
Scizor - we all know how good scizor is!
gengar - his speed and ability to ohko mewtwo, giritina, and deal serious damage to lugia, makes him a good option, plus he can learn thunderbolt
Snorlax, just cause he's a favorite.
Tyranitar-sandstorm-crunch earthquake( take out kyorge first...lol)
Heatran- comon it's heatran! it really SHOULD be an uber!

dragonites weakness to icebaem+thunder+dragon attacks and its speed make it bait in an uber format
same with salamence

infernape is great, but it just doesnt hit hard enough+plus weakness to water+earthquake +psychic+ flying...lol exactly

i just noticed that you forgot ludicolo.

I've been thinking if you got a gastrodon with memento and stormdrain with a trick room dusknoir that know's explosion, coupled with some heavy hitters, it would be nice. It would go something like this:

Dusknoir uses trick room, while gastrodon uses whatever. Gastrodon uses memento, while dusknoir uses whatever. I switch in something like a rampardos and something else with synergy after dusknoir dies.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Or use a bronzong with 28 speed Evs and explosion to be slower than the gastrodon in place of dusknoir.

Edit: Be faster, not slower, lol

Yeah, this is my first time going to the Pokemon VCG tournaments and I live in Indiana so I'm going to the last chance thing. The only question I have is how early should I be at the convention center to make sure I have a chance to participate in the event (register for the event)?

P.S. I'm registering as a Senior

I'm trying to run a Rain Dance team for my little brother, who's in the Junior Division and this is what I have so far.
Kyogre @ Don't know
Nature Modest/Timid can't choose
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Thunder
-Don't know/Water Spout

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Nature Modest Ability Swift Swim
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Grass Knot/Energy Ball
-" "/Focus Punch

Palkia @ " "/Yache Berry/Choice
Nature Modest
-Surf/Hydro Pump
-Spacial Rein
-Thunder/Fire Blast
-Draco Meteor

Azelf @Leftovers/Expert Belt/Choice
Nature Timid

-U-Turn/Trick

If I could get any help from it, that would help a lot. Please and Thank you.

i drove to nashville last year, and made top 16 in JAA but its nice to actually to have a 2 hour drive compared to the 6+.

@timess. all those choice items will end up hurting you if you get a bad matchup and having 4 attack moves on every pokemon isn't to good, protect can be a decisive move to win you the game. and i know people are all over the swift swim ludicolo but i would highly suggest rain dish to keep absorbing surf. you could even do a modest kyogre with a choice scarf and spam surf to keep our hp up
