Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds 2011 - San Diego, CA USA

I have been to SD twice, HI once, Anaheim once. They were all great. Florida in August has always kept me away.

I am from Chicago. I work in suburbs, a mile away from a convention center that could easily host the event part with nice hotel, but visitors are stuck in suburbs with nothing to do outside of Pokemon. August here is somewhat better than Florida, but there are only a few venue's that I can think of that would be enjoyable/comparable experience to the others. The best venue that I could imagine would be the Chicago Sheraton that is downtown, right on the Chicago River and River walk, views, and walking distance to the Lake, Chicago Shopping District, and Navy Pier. From what I seen, the worlds location must have be in a tourist "destination"location such as the down town area. Saying this, I doubt that it would be Chicago or a urban destination like NYC.

Pokemon constraints has always been a resort location, with decent Airport accessability. I like SD and Anaheim locations in Southern Cal. I have no interest in SF. Seattle would be cool in August, but I think the Pokemon folks want to get away from Seattle area.

Small cities and non- "destination" locations have NO SHOT in this discussion. So the rotation of SD, Disney CA, Disney FL, and Hawaii is what we have. I could see Tampa being added to this list. The west coast destinations make sense to make it easier for West Coast people to make it, who can't make it east for US Nats.

BTW, Indianapolis for Nats was great. I think this should be stamped as a lock for now on. (Anyone hear anything to the contrary on this?)

As much as I'd want it to be in Florida again, so I'd be within distance of it, honestly, I don't care. Nationals is 10 times more fun than Worlds, every single year. I love the heck out of Nationals, and it's plenty for me (and my wallet).

Shouldn't it be out by tomorrow? When they give you the check in packages with the tropical winds, it includes a card revealing the location of next year's worlds. At least that was in 08?

The location (city) is listed on one of the promo cards that the competitors will be given when they check in tomorrow. Only the staff members know so far and they are not allowed to tell.

either anaheim or orlando. doesnt quite matter for me that i'm okay with.
Hawaii is great, true. I've been in 2007, but only cuz i won nats. Unfortunately can't spend over $2500 only with tickets this year ;/

I hope it isn't Anaheim; I find it unfair for California to have 2 different cities on the regular rotation of Worlds venues. I don't think it will be there, though. I expected it last year, but they jumped over that spot in the pattern and went back to Hawaii. My first guess would be back to my hometown of Orlando, and my second guess would be some all-new venue. They haven't EVER been to the northern US, not to mention the fact that they've never gone outside of the US. If they're going to keep it in the US, something like Orlando, somewhere in CA, Seattle, and NYC sounds like it would be a great rotation, covering the 4 corners of the country, especially with Nationals being geographically in the middle of all that.

Basically, I'll only be there if:
a) it's in Orlando (or somewhere else nearby)
or
b) I win a trip via VGC (which, by the way, NEEDS to have a FL qualifier next year)

...so you can probably guess what I'm hoping for.

see if it's in anaheim at least the weather is bearable. orlando in august is just hell on earth.

I'm not sure as I haven't seen anything to prove it, but word is San Diego for next year. Not sure how much truth to it, but just lyk.
