Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds 2011 - San Diego, CA USA

As much as I think the East Coast deserves another major event, I think Europe truly deserves Worlds.

8 years (2004-2011) and all Worlds will have been in the US. Doesn't Europe deserve Worlds 10% of the time?

How much is an average Pokemon player willing to spend to go to Worlds without a trip?

I know that my parents would never agree to take me to Europe, or Japan for Worlds. Ticket prices are outrageous. I know that it's unfair that Worlds is in the United States every year, and I'm thankful for that, but I can't see them moving to Japan or Europe. One way or another, someone's going to be upset.

If 1 out of 10 Worlds is held in Europe, then European players will have been upset 90% of the time and US players will have been upset 10% of the time.

^And has been stated before, not all US players would even be upset. Getting a paid trip becomes amazing, and it becomes a much more vacationesque thing. Worlds 2013 in Paris! Let's do it xD

I want to bring up the "vacationesque" thing. (I will use that word in the future.)

I've always thought that Worlds should be somewhere that is a vacation destination, with the idea that people would come in a couple of days before and maybe stay a couple of days after. And as a "vacation spot" there would be things for the non-players to do.

I haven't seen a lot of that.

While it happens, most of the things available outside of the event (US Nats and Worlds) tends to be of little importance and people arrive and leave the day before and the day after.

It makes putting Worlds in a place like Orlando with all of its vacation destinations kind of irrelevant.

A good Nats/Worlds destination = place to sleep + places to eat - (bums + street people)

I'd put it in Japan, but not Europe, i mean Japan basically invented this game..
Europe IDK just seems to draw the short straw IMO.
Anyone have a speculative date as when Worlds 2011 will be or when they'll announce it?

sorry to contradict, but i saw, and have seen quite a few people arriving early and/or staying late for worlds to make a vacation out of the trip...especially those coming from overseas.

according to the card in the competitor kit binders, worlds 2011 is august 12 -14 in san diego.

Agreed, many made it a vacation.

Am trying to find out exactly where in San Diego the venue will be. Will it be the Hilton Bayfront again? Looking at condos again, need to know where if anybody knows...

Thank you.
Now if i can convince my parents to take me to Gen Con and Worlds in the same year...
Also it'll prolly be at a hilton, it's pretty much always been there.

Worlds will NEVER be in Florida again. It was there two times, and each time a hurricane hit. Florida will not get the chane for this to happen a 3rd time.

Were you there for either occasion? I was there the 2nd time it was in Florida.

I didn't even know there was a Hurricane hitting Florida.

So, really, if it doesn't effect Pokemon in the slightest, what's the point of bringing it up?

California is just as prone to Forest Fires and Earthquakes as Florida is to Hurricanes!

Not for the first one I was there for the 2nd (I went 4-0 and the grinder before finishing 4-4 LOL)
and yes we were at Epcot Center when the Hurricane hit. Biggest rain drops I have ever seen and I live in Seattle were we know our rain.

Worlds will not be in Florida becuase ever again becuase the last Nintendo VP who authorized having worlds there did not have a good experiance when he got back to work. No way it will ever be there again.

Well, I can go to worlds 2011, Yay.
Anyway I hope world 2012 is in Japan, I would love to go there

the problem with that is that the winner wins a trip to japan. If worlds is in japan, then, you'd just have to stay in japan for 4 more days. I mean, im not saying thats bad, buti don;t think they would do that.

Charlie and I were in Florida after Worlds the last time and got to experience the Hurricane / Tropical Storm / Big wind and rain system as it crossed the state four times. Our Disney vacation was definitely impacted, but we finally decided to visit the water parks where being wet is a natural occurrence. We had a great time in a nearly empty park, had freakishly great parking, and found the silver lining.
