How will ex's affect the meta today?

Decks that will suffer:
Reshiphlosion: Suffers because of the Afterburners damage.

I disagree. Since Reshi discards two of it's energy it will take less damage than Zekrom, and be able to survive a hit, while still being able to dish out considerable damage. If anything I'd see it Mewtwo EX making the deck better as a tech.

10 damage from afterburners + 120 from Mewtwo EX = KO.

Not all decks are going to use it for that purpose though, many will use it specifically for its first attack, which will only do 60 damage if Mewtwo has 2 energy, and don't forget eviolite, which will probably see a lot more play next set.

Wobbuffet HGSS.

(P)(C) Double Return 20x
Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 damage times the number of damage counters on Wobbuffet.

I would agree with you except for that eviolite will be played much more than it is now. It makes 50 damage on tails to 30, which isnt that bad. I dont think Kyurem ex will be played at all, since cobalion is a decent wall against mewtwo. Now I realize most of this is theorymon, but Reshiram ex is quite wonderful in my brain, and our meta is quite different from japan's even when comparing similar formats. Mewtwo ex will be the best card from the set definitely, but reshiram ex with emboar makes emboar a lot more viable without needing to use badboar.

I think All Typhlosions are going to play at least one Resh EX simply because it allows it to get over the 120 damage hump that it has problems with in taking out trainer lock decks.

One very cheap counter to Mewtwo that may see some play..... Xatu.

A combo that take two turns to set-up, while it can OHKO you on that same turn. Plus I'm sure a deck specializing in Mewtwo would have another Psychic type to counter your combo. If you're trying to make a universal tech Mew is a horrible option.

Mew and Jumpluff. You OHKO it for 2 prizes, it OHKO's you for one.

It won't work anymore cause Kyurem's Glaciate makes Mew Prime unplayable even If you Heal Stall with Butterfree HS and/or Togekiss UD LZ'ed, even If you See Off Jumpluff to use Mass Attack with Mew Prime, Kyurem can just 2HKO all your Mew's for multiple prizes. If you Heal Stall you're either forced to use Switch or waste discarding attached energies just to bring in a new Pokemon that is already setup to be donked.

Mew Prime just doesn't cut it anymore both Casually and Competitively, seriously though you're better off using Cobalion NV or Weezing CoL to counter Mewtwo ex or use Mewtwo ex yourself for the 1st attack since it only costs a DCE to use. It's also splashable in Reshiphlosion and since it has a max HP of 180 it will still survive with Eviolite attached, yeah Mewtwo ex is probably going to break the format not as bad as Pokemon Catcher, well maybe.

Other than Mewtwo ex (and maybe Zekrom/Reshiram ex), it seems like the main purpose for many of these cards is to just be nigh-indestructible late game sweepers. That said, it seems like we have several old-school nukes in case these cards get out of hand (e.g., Desert Ruins HL).

I can see Cobalion and Weezing countering Mewtwo EX. How is Sawsbuck?

Because a lot of people are talking about playing straight Mewtwo EX decks with Celebi Prime to load up a bunch of grass fast and hit for a lot.

It's not a good counter at all, because celebi/mewtwo probably won't be a tier 1 deck, but I see where he was getting at.

Ironically the best counters for Mewtwo EX are:

Mewtwo EX
Mew Prime
Cobalion

These Xatu, Weezing bs cards will not work. Those three will be the best. Also Catcher double PP from digimon EX cards is also good. Reshiram is also pretty good as it discards energy. It will have 110-120 HP if Reshiphlosion with 1 energy so Mewtwo will have to have 5 energy to KO (with Celebi 5 energy is not hard by any means, but with other forms of acceleration namely Eelektrik it can be a bit more difficult). Zekrom EX also has this advantage. (These are not including Eviolite).

With Reshiphlosion I'm not sure how it will fare due to digimon EXs OHKOing Typhlosion, but giving 2 prizes in return. It will have a pretty good Mewtwo matchup imo.

Zekrom EX + Eelektrik might be a better bet as it discards 2 energy as well. Discarding DCE vs Mewtwo is pretty amazing imo as you can just reattach it next turn or switch Eelektrik shenanigans.

EDIT: Sorry about my mistake. I wrote stuff about fliptini and Zekrom EX thinking that the discarding effect os Zekrom EX is with a flip. It is not. Only Reshirams effect is with a flip. Sorry about the mistake.
