Ok so I was playing today and someone had TGW in their deck and you know what I did. I PLAYED RPS!!!!

i feel for the people who are for RPS. it puts more fun in the game. if both parties agree to slam down on 3, there really shouldnt be a problem.

I wouldn't have believed it but today I made a couple of sets of cards that had rock, paper & scissors written on them. We used them at league & weekly tournament & they were a lot of fun. Each player chose a card & turned it face down & put it into the "arena" area. Then revealed the card.
Our record today was 7 ties in a row, with laughter after each one. This IS a fun card.

7 ties = waste of time = stupid card.

If it were so random that's a chance of 1 in 2187.

It's RPS for a reason.

Hahaha.

In Japan, they always decide who goes first by doing RPS. (We usually do a high roll in the US/Europe, they do RPS) When Team Galactic's Belt was released in Japan, I started getting curious about how

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

the reaction to this card might turn out to be once it hits players in English around Worlds time. I expected everyone to go mental over a little game called RPS which for Japanese is the most natural thing in the world.

But never ever did I expect this many topics about it and this much controversy. Wow. Sorry, but this is kind of amusing.

You're right, it is amusing.
In Japan, the people there (from what I have studied) are very friendly towards eachother and everyone gets along, most likely because of the necessity to do so having such a massive population density. Disputes like this would never come up in Japan because they have trust in each other and astounding moral values.

In the US, we aren't used to this. We don't always get along, and we are very cautious about cheaters because there are (I assume) quite a few more here than in Japan. Therefore a game like RPS can cause more dispute, which is fairly common in US tournies (dunno bout Japan, this is all from learning from teachers really)

You're pretty much right Elm. Japan is a "village" society, pretty much everyone gets along, and there are very few disputes. The people play the game to have fun. Not to mention RPS is used in life constantly to see who should do what, in this case, who goes first, and who draws what cards.

Our society as a whole is pretty untrustworthy of each other, and the constant arguments over this ONE card, and ONE game seem to prove that. Two people should agree upon a way to play, and should do it. It's FUN. Which sometimes I think people forget, and get too caught up in the competitive thought process.

If we, a society as a whole, want to continue to drown out arguments over this card, it should either be banned, or changed, or people should learn to accept the fact that it's here.

And if it isn't obvious, I'm on the "play the card how it's printed" side. Ya know, to have fun...

I just made up a set of 6 cards with 2 of each , rock , paper and scissors and use them like a regular card, choose one and flip.

well, thats what the card says, u are doing the right thing.

BTW, the card tells u to play RPS (w hand) . Did the card tells u to be paranoid and make so much fuzz abt a simple RPS game? NO.

Lol and what will they do?
let's say when someone is one second later doing his RPS ?
They will have to call a judje everytime when this card is played because there will be lot's of players who will say that his oponent cheated in some kind of way ...

I KNEW YOU WERE HERE!!!! *adds to buddy list*

This card is going to create so many problems. I like the way where players choose card and reveal it- it's far less complex and would root out all of these issues.

I've settled on giving these three cards to players to use:

Slugma (common from many sets): "Rock" and Fire
Mantine (common from Genesis): "Paper" and Water
Scyther (common or unc. from Neo Discovery): "Scissors" and Grass

Does the triange thing both ways.

True fact
Statics show that
Males will throw rock the first time out almost 50% of the time
While Females Will throw Paper the first time out almost 50%

True Fact!!!
Knowledge is Power, so against a guy im throwing paper and against a woman im throwing scissors.

Or you can trick your opponent
Say..."im going to throw out rock"
They will start trying to out think you...
he's saying rock so i will play paper and then he will play scisors, so i'll play rock. Or mabey thats what he wants me to do so he will will play rock, so i'll play scissors, but then he might really play rock so i'll play...????? Then i play ******* And win!

I see stalling being a huge issue with Rock Paper Scissors.

Anyone who wants to stall just has to throw his choice out a little late or a little early a couple times, if you have four TGWs in your deck and you "mess up" everytime, the wasted time can really add up. Sure after the first messed up throw you could designate a "show your choice on 3" rule, but that doesn't completely solve the problem. Also setting up such a process mid-game also takes a decent amount of time.

So what you end up with is a card that could take several minutes just to decide who draws 6 or 3 cards (a process which would take >10 seconds with a coin flip). Combine this with time it will take to shuffle and cut each others decks and draw your new amount of cards, and consider that this could be done 4 times in a game and you could end up with over 10 minutes (maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but I'm sure some stallers could pull it off) of play time devoted soley to this one supporter card, most of which could be resolved by a simple coin flip.

That being said, I really enjoyed this card (and Mr. Mime) in the pre-releases because it added an element of fun to the game. However that was just a pre-release and I don't think people will handle the card the same way in a competitive event when big prizes/points are on the line.

It's really not that hard. Even she gets it!

I'll likely encourage organizers to use basic energy cards with Rock, Paper, or Scissors written on them to settle disputes. It's clean, it's simple, and it's definitive.
