Maybe there hasn't been a noted case of cheating but think about this. There is the potential there for it. If POP didn't believe there was potential for cheating and seek a way to avoid cheating, not only on this card but other facets of the game, why was the rules of acceptable sleeves changed?

There have been DQs at major events for cheating.
Well I'm sure there have been in different areas of the country (even around the world i'm sure), but I haven't seen any noted cases of cheating in my region. I've never read any press/forum reports of people getting DQ for cheating at worlds or nats. Which of these major events do you speak of Pokepop?? I'm just curious for the most part that's all.

I AGREE that there is a potential to cheating out there in general, and it's always good to be safe than sorry. It's just that I'm not fully convinced of this whole RPS cheating thing yet... I COULD see it happening (cheating) at a major RPS EVENT/TOURNAMENT like the one stated in that article above. It's just for a POKEMON EVENT/TOURNAMENT, I honestly predict low odds of cheating for this kind of card... Think of how silly it would be to cheat on a shuffle card and that the odds of getting what you want out of those extra 3 cards are very low. True, an extra 3 cards would increase your odds of getting something you need, but again the need to complain about this whole RPS thing is just silly.

There was a case from Nats 2006 that was very well discussed on these boards.
There were other cases in other Regional and higher events that I don't know if I'm authorized to discuss, so I won't.

But the point is, cheating happens.
Having an easy way to eliminate an easy source of it is not, in my opinion, silly.

I'm really done with the dragged on discussion of this.
It has been determined how to handle the playing of this card. I'm good with it. I hope you can come to terms with it too.

one of my opponents tried cheating against me back in the 05-06 season with his LBS deck
i saw him take 7 cards discreatly from his deck, and drop them on the floor
needless to say, he was busted and DQ'd
cheating happens, catching them is the best way to stop them from doing it

Jeez... All of this just over a simple game on RPS!? LMAO.
A couple of points that I'd like to add:
1.) RPS in Japan is actually played DIFFERENTLY to the US/UK/AU. What they do in Japan is throw their fists in closed ONCE , rasie them then throw their choice. We on the other hand, throw our fists in closed THREE times then make our choice. It will be an issue come worlds.
2.) Last time I checked, you have to do what is writtern on the card you play. If the card says play RPS, YOU PLAY RPS!
3.) Cheating at RPS? Boy you must be really sad if you attemt that. Even if you don't top deck/stack or draw extra cards, you're still putting yourself in with those who get DQ'ed.

3.) Cheating at RPS? Boy you must be really sad if you attemt that.

How many times do I have to say this?

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF 'SAD' PEOPLE WHO PLAY THIS GAME; people who would be more than willing to cheat at a simple game of RPS for the chance to win a large scholarship.

Ignoring their presence, or making fun of how pathetic they are, does nothing to put an end to what they do.

Do I want to make it so that the 'cheaters' can't cheat? No! I'd much rather catch the cheaters in the act of cheating.

The potential problem with TGW and RPS isn't actual cheating but suspicion and accusation of such. The option to play with three cards instead addresses this aspect. Its not there to stop the cheaters.

I hope that anyone who actually attempts to cheat gets caught. That extends to all aspects of organised play and not just this one card.

There are varients of "traditional" rock-paper-scissors involving 4th options such as pencil,

No, there are not.

To be blunt, kids acting silly in the school yard do not constitute "varients".

Kids in my son's old school said "gun beats everything".
They also yelled "time out" every time they were just about to be tagged in a game of tag.

Being a jerk does not make a varient, it makes for someone that you don't play with anymore.

people, its not hard to win in rps. no need to resort to dice or cards. Just learn the rps strategy and you'll do great. a very simple but powerful gambit, the avalanche, will be sure to win many TGW. Try it and see for yourself. Also Fistfull o' dollars is another strong gambit. Use these strats and see your way to victory
