Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A very interesting format is on the rise

i had forgotten about Magmortar, which is also a great card. I would say a Tier 1 card along with Lucario, Empoleon, Blissey, etc. 110 HP on a stage 1, with a body that heals, so if you use it even once then you add to it's HP. The first attack is a nice attack that allows you to build for Fireball Bazooka, a great sniping move. The Magmar from MT does an auto 20 for a Fire, so comboed with Magmortar's first attack it is easily a T2/60 deck; and it's a nice recovery move just like Lucario's Feint. Then the energy requiment for Fireball Bazooka is just right, meaning it allows for different types or Holon FF to be played with it; although you wouldn't abuse the body then, but I would take no weakness vs. Empoleon or Gatr any day vs. -20 damage. Comboed with the Lv. X it's semi-broken, since you can burn the active for 3, and snipe on bench for 40/20/20 or 100 discarding 2 (most likely something your opponent is building on the bench); making it have 2 energies left. So next turn you attach another energy and can use Fireball Bazooka to finish something off on the bench and add more damage to the active while it's been getting burned.

I already have my deck built with it:).

Wow, I never really thought about the new Magmortar, before wrighting it off as just like the SW one.
Hmm, the only thing wrong with it is the Gatr/Empoleon matchup. How does it do there?

This format is not like the last one,but similar, setup decks are gonna do early season, then something that is a obviously good combo is gonna win worlds. Ive seen it happen before(Thinks to worlds 07)

Other than that,I like this format,Electivire just become even better,Flygon d Ex is still a beast and MegaGatr is the most simple deck to run in the format(besides Ape)

here is your answer:

I like the new Minum Poke-power where it let's you draw 2 cards when your pokemon are knocked out. All though it itself is not that good of attacker :/ Another ok pokemon is electroid for his poke power to turn in to an energy if knocked out and it can also do 100 damage and knock itself out for 2 energys if played right it could help activate scramble energys as well. I am also fond of Nidoking for 2 colorless energy you can bring out a bench pokemon and do 20 damage + poison. Or for 4 (2 if you have 2 nidoqueens MT on your bench) you can do 60 plus 30 for each nidoqueen out.. The only problem is that it can be slow to get out and going... though if built right it can do good.....( I have come back from lousing a few times with this deck)

Considering blissey is in like 20 decks you two should specify more if you want to really examine a matchup.

Then it is a bad Blissey deck, considering there is no synergy between Empoleon (a stage two damage spread and sniper) and Blissey (a bloody steamroller and tank)

I am horrified at your use of the English language.

From lousing?

Electroid?

Major lack of punctation?

Mag vs blissey would be a very close match, but I think mag would win out in the end just because he hits benched blisseys, making it easier to KO later. He also heals himself, which is very nice against an early blissey.

Blissey right now has to be the most versitile pokemon right now cause alot of lines seem to work with it(Lucario/Electivire/Delcatty).

The next set I know will change that or make Blissey even better, cause the next set is gonna give us so many different playable cards that any deck could possibly win.

It wont be a bad format,IM glad MegaGatr isnt talked about as much anymore cause that deck is so simple and boring to play.

There's so many good Pokemon in SW, it's totally impossible to say what's gonna be played.
I see potential in Vire, Mothim, Banette, Gallade, Gardy, Ampharos and so many more.

Being a stage 1, that can use any energy, has 130HP, and can abuse cessation crystal, I agree that Blissey is easily splashable in many decks.

That leads me to my second point. I wouldn't count out any Blissey varient. Empoleon/Blissey might work together like Mario does. One spreads damage (Prinplup/Empoleon) and the other does good damage (Blissey). Both are able to abuse Cessation Crystal and the various water energy and holon wp energies.

Interesting comparison. There is no synergy between them other than the fact that they can use the same energy, just like mario; they can both combo much more efficiently with other cards, just like mario. Like mario indeed.

Magmortar loses to Blissey and Gallade. It's not really worth playing.

it depends a lot on the builds like said before. As far as Gallade goes it should be a very close matchup because Gallade would have to flip over a lot of prizes to OHKO a Magmortar, if they use the 50 and switch then Mag can just heal to it has 70 or 90 making it harder for Gallade to OHKO it with it's second attack. Plus Magmortar seems like it's faster (at least in my build) and it hits Gallade while on the bench. Then you have to wager in the Mag Lv. X.

As far as blissey and Empoleon it's easy, Holon FF + Fire makes it so that Magmortar has very few bad matchups if any. But more playtesting could prove me wrong, as I have started playtesting a little.

I've done extensive testing on the matchup and if they get up a Gallade, the game is pretty much over. They can easily OKO 2 Magmortar with 1 Gallade and thats already hard enough to recover from. Magmortar, just like every other T2 deck ( including Blissey ), loses to any S2 deck (the good ones atleast, in this case Gallade ) that can get set up.
