2009 Masters World Champion Report!

i honestly think u lucked out only seeing 1 luxape

Sorry you feel that way, however I would like to tell you that Luxape isn't that bad of a game. We trade kills all game and it takes them 2 energy to my 1. Eventually I win the exchange. The match is about a 60/40 in my favor unless they run 4 sprays. Then it's 50/50. Palkia lock is a much harder game.

Congrats on your win Stephen.

Thanks!

Congratulations, Steve! I always enjoy playing you and your dad and I learn something new every time. I also see how much work you two have put into your decks. I know you have been hard at work for this for a LONG time, and you've finally achieved the dream. I will be buying your deck when it comes out. Congrats, and I look forward to seeing the World Champion soon!

P.S. I apologize for the delay in reply, but it's been a hectic time with school starting up and all.

In Steve/Beedrill's defense, Luxray is a much much better matchup than palkia is for him. Toss in the fact that 95% of people at Worlds hadn't properly tested against Beedrill, OR were unfamiliar with how to deal with the Luxray too, and Steve's deck choice was fantastic to run the event with. Beedrill had been written off as a non-factor headed into the event. I knew Flygon had an auto loss to it, and I didn't even acknowledge it as being relevant because I was pretty confident Steve would be the only copy in the tourney.

all you people posting bad stuff mad that he won stop hate n he is a really good player and deck builder call it luck or whatever he is the world champ and you cant knock him for that. good tourny stephen im proud of you even no i dont no you lol dont worry about what people say they jus mad the deck is great

Ya steve congrats man on such an original deck that blew me away when i heard of 'raybees' lol
and for having an incredible run i bow down to you lol:thumb:

u know u got lucky he missed 3 SSU in top 8 right

No matter how good a player you are, every World Champion has had luck on their side. Once Top 18/16 start, the best players in the world start to be left. A high skill level can be matched by the opponent, its luck in hands, flips and matchups that will get you through.

Are all the previous World Champions bad players? Of course not.

Beedrill Vs. Luxape is really close. If Beedrill gets set up Luxape is in for a ruff time. I would much rather be sitting on the Luxape players side of the table. But thats becuase I played Luxape for several months and know it much better, just as I'm sure Stephen would rather be sitting on the Beedrill side of the the table. IDK what I would put the odds at but I would think it would be any worse than 60-40 maybe 65-35. The match up comes down so much to player skill and lists.

Congratulations Stephen!

You did a great job and I would like to thank you for everything you did for the players on sunday evening. It was amazing how you tried to make the manager giving us a room where we can play. Too bad it didn't work out ;)
See ya next year in Hawaii...

Stevie! Holy...cow. World Champion. We've had some spectacular games here at the Orlando tournaments, and I remember playing with you and your dad in so many tournaments where you guys have worked for DAYS on decks to shut everything down! It's been an honor to play against you every single time. John I'm sure is so proud of you, and I can say I'm proud of you too man. Congrats and I'll see you at the battle roads.

After actually playing this list some, I must say... It is absolutely ridiculous!

While being one of the most difficult decks to play right now, it backs it up it winning potential. If perfection is possible in a deck list, you reached it.

Gratz on the win, and good luck this season. I'll enjoy playing RayBees in a few BR's thx to you. =]

EDIT: Thought this was worth replying to...

So...what happens when you have 6 energy prized?

QQ and scoop.

Hold your PokeTurn's,then drop Crobat and turn until you have a KO;after drawing an energy as your 1st prize you should be ready to go considering none of your Beedrill material is prized this game,by now you should have your setup from Flutter Wings;thus saving the Azelf drop (assuming you didn't open with it),you might be behind a couple prizes but the game is still winnable. If it is that big of an issue, cut a card for a 7th energy and voila! It CAN be done. :)
