Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 Masters World Champion Report!

I was wondering if you went to the Spring Battle Roads in Pooler, Ga?

Nope, I did however attend the marathon of cities.

Congrats on the win Steve, Best Beedrill list I've ever seen.

Thanks Jay. And I'm glad chuck acknowledged your sig. You are definitely one of the best players on the planet.

Congratulations! I never expected that Beedrill would win Worlds, but I suppose that this is one of those times that I should've expected the unexpected. You are, officially, "THE guy to beat" until Worlds 2010 in Hawaii. Hope I make it there and if I do, I'll seek you out and ask you to sign my Beedrill (RR).

No problem bud :thumb:

Steve I always said you were the best player I knew. I know we have our issues but I really want to give you the congrats you deserve for your well earned victory. See ya in Hawaii.

BLiZz

Thank you Ken. I appreciate it.

My jaw almost hit the FLOOR when I read that.

That has got to be the most beautiful play I have ever heard of.

Good job. You deserve this achievement.

I thought it was pretty good. One of the best plays i've ever made.

congratulations on your win; wish i'd been able to see more of your match. i don't think i've ever seen a prouder parent than your dad was this weekend:)

What can I say Big Guy that I haven't already said... You may not be mine but you know I think of you that way and I couldn't have been prouder. I have been a part of you and your Dad's life that I couldn't hold back the emotion Steve. See you win and being right there with your Dad really brought this game back to where it should be and restored my faith in GOOD things come to GOOD(NO GREAT ) people.
I love ya buddy and can't wait till me, you, your Dad and Wes can be back down in Florida do do what we all love best. Once again thank you for letting me share in your moment, I will never forget it....

Are you the Florida player who drove up here to Louisiana for states and beat everyone's face, or am I thinking of the wrong person?

Steven is a 3 X Louisiana State Champion, including this year when he didn't lose a game.
But starting 1-2 and not giving up really is what impressed me morethan anything. Most other 1-2 players dropped, but Steven knew he couldn't lose again. Kids got guts.
And heh, great play on the azelf fake!

Steve,
No one in the game deserves it more than you. Just got home and wanted to chime in quickly but will write a bigger report about the weekend later.

You worked so hard for this and I could really tell you were ready to capture this title. You had such a solid list and you were up at 6 am Friday morning testing the Flygon match which really showed me something....even though I could have used more sleep...LOL.

Chatot for the win!!!

Tails on Scoop UPs!!!

By far the sickest move I have ever seen on that Azelf drop.....or not to drop...ROFL.....JUST SICK!!!

Starting 1-2 and not even showing any stress at all. What a lesson for us all to learn about tourney play.

Thanks for the memories. I will never forget the image of that wide grin on your proud father's face. However, my favorite one of all was when you passed me in the hallway coming back from the restroom and said "I"ll be right back....I have to go win Worlds". After that I was at total ease with your match as I knew you were in the zone.

Enjoy it Steve....you deserve it. Pictures coming soon.

Love ya Kid,
Jim

It would be inappropriate for me not to congratulate you on your victory. I have to admit I've thought of you as a player with a larger than life ego but I must say that you, without a doubt, have the skills and titles to back it up. Even though I may not play the game any longer I want to wish you luck on your future in the game of pokemon.

Thank you so much Doreen, it was a pleasure seeing you and can't wait for Nats!

Johnboy, what do I even say to this? Wesley is like a brother to me, and you like an uncle or even a second father. Whenever I need anything at all I know who I can call.

Thank YOU John.

Jim, I remember when you first started playing. I remember the Dunnellon BR that you won. I remember looking up to you last year in the grinder and asking, "When the HELL did you get so good at Pokemon?"

Our families have been through so much, I am glad to be able to think of you as more than a friend. As Family.

Thank you and Graf for being there all weekend for me.

It would be inappropriate for me not to congratulate you on your victory. Ector, thanks man. However I'm sorry that you have pictured me as a player with a huge ego. Sometimes I do like to talk a big game, but I take for granted the fact that alot of people who hear me aren't in my inner circle. Everyone in my circle knows that I am a very confident person. Not being confident is just being prepared to lose, as evidented by the quote in Jim's post:

Good luck in whatever you venture into with life. :thumb:

Congratulations on your win! you are an inspiration to the average player that you don't have to have to use a meta game deck to win!BEEEDRILLL FTW

Stevie: Major props. You made all of us proud this week. You know your Dad and you are family to me. I loved the flash of the NM at the end after Lux X got milled by Fly X. Your expression was priceless. You KNEW you had your last 2 prizes with the 2 Poketurns in hand (those were flashed on the big screen too LOL)

You deserved this. No one puts in the work on decks like you and your Dad. A week I will never forget!

You may be the Champ, but I still own ya on RPS ...err Lawman's Wager! :)

Keith

Congrats on winning Worlds! It was sure surprising to hear you won with Beedril but I'm glad something else won Worlds that wasn't a SP-based deck. Hope to see ya at Nats/Worlds.

Steve. Great job! You deserve it. You and your dad have brought so much to the game that so many of us have benefitted for years. You guys have always believed in Garrett and supported him in so many ways. You are great Ambassadors to the game! I can't begin to tell you how proud of you I am! You have had so many challenges in life and the game, it looks as though you've overcome those and come out on top. You can bet Garrett and I will be buying your World Champion Deck. I am so honored and humbled by your remarks in your report and your e-mail. Garrett and I really miss you guys. I really hope to make it to Hawaii next year. I have already blocked that timeframe off for vacation. It was so much fun last time. You can't beat hanging out with the great crew that run it including all the Awesome participants.

Take care my friend, Garrett and I will stay in touch.

I would also like to say hello to all my friends in the game and who organize all of these great events. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail. My address is listed below.

Congratulations from Italy!!!

All italian crew followed from home your match against Alesso in top 16 and supported him, but after you defeatd him i was very happy that such a brillant deck won!!!

Congratulations! I'm happy for you and your father (that i met at worlds 2008! he signed my roseanne's research, LOL!)!!!

Jesus!

Are you thanking Jesus as in the Bible, or is it a friend's nickname ?
Surely nobody in the world is geeky enough to thank the Bible Jesus for winning a card game tournament !?

Wow, what can I say that others haven't? I can't think of anything, but definitely congrats are in order. Lot of work eh? Well, it definitely paid off. Good job. Good luck in the future.
