Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 Masters World Champion Report!

Congratulations Steve , I am so happy that a Florida player took the trophy home .. Andres, Juan Pablo and I where cheering for you all the time on the sides as our last Florida hope, and you made it happen. You should feel very proud. My best to you and all your family for this achievement, enjoy it all you can as life is made of moments. This one will surely stay with you the rest of your life.
Roberto.

Congrats Steve,

You and your dad have been great to Taylor and myself over the years and we are in awe of your win. Thanks for all the great moments and memories over the past years and I know you will be a great champion.

Hey, maybe you and your dad can take it easier this year or do we need Jimmy to send down "the Grinch" for next year:thumb:

See you on the road in the winter!

Congratulations! This year's finals were so awesome - two well-known and well-respected Pokémon veterans facing off. The Silvestro name has been quite famous in Pokémon for years, but now truly _everyone_ will know the name :)

Are you thanking Jesus as in the Bible, or is it a friend's nickname ?
Surely nobody in the world is geeky enough to thank the Bible Jesus for winning a card game tournament !?

I guess I'm 100% geeky then.

Have you ever thought that the order of the cards in your deck was pre-determined? That your opening 7 card hand wasn't just "random".

Trust me, there is a higher power for everything and I like to believe in my religion.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Wow, what can I say that others haven't? I can't think of anything, but definitely congrats are in order. Lot of work eh? Well, it definitely paid off. Good job. Good luck in the future.

Thank you so much. I'm glad for everyone who helped me on this, our work finally paid off guys!

Congratulations Steve.

Well played.

The look on your dad's face at the end was priceless.

Vince

Thanks Vince. Ever since 2005 and that mess of a game 3 in t8 I've been waiting to be in a position to get a nice piece of "glass". It finally happened :thumb:

Thank you Clay! You and Taylor are one of the families that everyone knows in pokemon. Whenever anyone says the name Mitchell we know who they mean. And you two have done nothing but represent SOTG and have just been going people. Thank you guys so much!

Thank you Tego. Those words are very nice :thumb:

You've reached the pinnacle of Pokemon-TCG Immortality! Outstanding accomplishment Steve. And, you did it YOUR way -- playing YOUR deck instead of a boring SP deck! I wish I could've seen it.

Dad is especially proud, I'm guessing -- plus a bit happy to pay less for college tuition.

Anyway, you're well on your way to Yamato-like greatness!

Steve. Great job! You deserve it. You and your dad have brought so much to the game that so many of us have benefitted for years. You guys have always believed in Garrett and supported him in so many ways. You are great Ambassadors to the game! I can't begin to tell you how proud of you I am! You have had so many challenges in life and the game, it looks as though you've overcome those and come out on top. You can bet Garrett and I will be buying your World Champion Deck. I am so honored and humbled by your remarks in your report and your e-mail. Garrett and I really miss you guys. I really hope to make it to Hawaii next year. I have already blocked that timeframe off for vacation. It was so much fun last time. You can't beat hanging out with the great crew that run it including all the Awesome participants.

Take care my friend, Garrett and I will stay in touch.

I would also like to say hello to all my friends in the game and who organize all of these great events. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail. My address is listed below.

I cannot believe I missed this post! Mike thank you so much. I love you and your family so much!

I need to flutter wings to basically win the game. I know that he has one power spray left and it's in his hand. I use roseanne for weedle and azelf. I "debate" putting the azelf down. I then ask "Flutter Wings?" he allows it. I get a band attack beedrill (I have 3 in play). Try to use Azelf and he power sprays. I smile so big and tell him "there wasn't a beedrill in there". I drop Crobat and double Poke'Turn to KO his active.
2-1

You have no idea how much I respect you for that. Congrats on your win :)

:

Hmm. Let me just check my Bible on that one.
Nope - can't find anything about opening hands in trading card games.
What exactly is your religion then ?
Would be great to have one that specialised in trading card games rather than those boring things such as poverty, sickness, starvation, war, etc.

Some people simply like to cause trouble....how bout Steve was thanking God for allowing him the opportunity to participate in the tournament and be successful...athletes do it all the time.

I may not be religious, but I can understand how Steve's mind works in this. He believes everything is predetermined by a higher power, and that includes EVERYTHING, from the big things to little things. Like a cardgame.
And for believing that much in his religion, I respect him. Why do people feel the need to bash on it? It's not like he's trying to shove it down our throats or anything. I have my pre-tourney rites that I go through, Steve puts faith in the bible. To each their own, and in the end...

He who wins is right.

I believe that as well, that everything has to be as it is. Exactly the reason why I keep my mouth shut because people don't get it. Which is stupid IMHO. If you don't get it, keep your cool and hold it in instead of turning on the flame of ignorance.

I guess I'm 100% geeky then.

If thats the case then your saying your win had nothing to do with skill or Luck for that matter? that means the only reason you won is because jesus wanted you to? haha that kind of takes away from your victory doesnt it?

You knew exactly what I meant. A religion for a trading card game would be kinda ridiculous, wouldn't it? Please don't turn this into a religious issue, I was just saying thanks.

Thank you Clay. You hit the nail right on the head.

I was thanking Jesus for giving me the skill I need to compete at a high level of competition in this game. He has also blessed me with some luck. What is the problem here?

Why is saying thanks even an issue?

Congrats & look forward to seeing you & your dad in events next year.

Thank you! I'm glad some people actually understand what I was doing.

It's not like he's trying to shove it down our throats or anything.
When the first thing the World Champion does in his report is thank Jesus, then he IS shoving it down our throats.
It shows lack of respect for any non-Christian opponents he may have played against.
If he has strong religious beliefs, then that's his business - but those beliefs don't belong on this forum.

Wait, what are you talking about? He just wants to thank Christ for allowing him this victory. He's not trying to preach to you, or "shove it down your throat."

back on topic, PLEASE...which is not the religious beliefs OR non-beliefs of any of the players participating in worlds.

further posts on this tangent will be deleted, and warnings/infractions will be given.
