"Because this season will be using fixed value Championship Points invitations, we will also be eliminating the invitation prizes from National Championships. Instead, National Championships will now award the minimum number of points necessary to earn an invitation to Worlds to a predetermined number of top finishers (Top 8, 4, 2, or 1, depending on rating zone). We feel that Nationals should always be a key path to the World Championships, and it will remain so under this system."

Could you please verify what this means in regard to paid trips to World's? Does this mean there will not be any paid trips - just qualifications for world's .... in effect just an invitation?

Invitations =/= Paid Trips.

Invitations and Paid Trips are 2 DIFFERENT types of prizes

Just because they are eliminating the invitation prizes from National Championships does not mean they are eliminating Paid Trips to worlds. Technically they could, but this announcement has NOTHING to do with Paid Trips.

Yeah, they're just talking about the Invite prize. That's it. It's basically the same thing, just a different mechanism.

I was asked what about the last chance Tournament. Will it still be the day before Worlds to give people a chance to enter Worlds or is that going to be eliminated also.

In some ways I do like the new system but 500 Points sounds High. A Player would have to almost win Ever Battle Road, City, At less a good number of Regionals, and States to have to by pass Nationals to get to worlds. And if not they have to top 8 at Nationals to just get what they need. On the other hand. It helps elminate so many people from making it to workds that just played in Battle Roads, Citys, Regionals, and States with out playing in Nationals. I know of a few players who loved the old why because if they could not make it to Nationals They would get their rankings high for Worlds.

I always felt that a person should have to do a lot more work to play in Worlds. This new system helps make that happen

500 points is not the cut off to get into worlds...

Its 400 point's the extra 100 points count towards the next season...

Where does everybody get 500 points from?

So anyway, I see we're in the business of making up bad rumors? The extra 100 does not go toward next season....

Woah Woah Woah, STOP.

Where does it say the extra 100 points count towards the next season?

I have not seen this said anywhere in any of the announcments made by P!P.

That was a prediction because then where will the extra points go if they may not count towards next season?

You seem to be confusing Championship Points as a form of Currency.

You do not get to buy an invite for 400 (or 200) Championship Points and have change left over for future years.

Your Championships Points will forever be displayed in you’re My Trainer Club Account (by season) and displayed in Rankings (by season) for strictly bragging and nostalgic purposes.

Please note that Championship Points, Play! Points and ELO Ratings reset each season.

The pokemon website said that any CP you earned during the july and august events will count towards the next season.

The new season started on July 9th. So any Championship Points earned during July/Augest counts towards 2012-2013 Tournament Season.

Since I've seen some questions about this, it should be noted that the 2012 World Championships award structure will be updated to match the 2013 CP structure. Meaning that the top 4 will receive the points necessary to qualify for 2013 Worlds, and then a relatively sharp drop off after that. We'll try to get those points updated within the next two weeks.

Thanks for your patience,

FYI,
We have updated the 2012 World Championships Championships Payout to the following. All players should see this reflected on their profile pages within the next 24-48 hours.

Code:
Finish Champ Points.
1 500
2 500
3-4 500
5-8 100
9-12 80
13 - 16 70
17 - 32 60
33 - 64 50

Piplup, perhaps you aren't reading his post properly. He's saying that the CP payout for the players standings in 2012 world's are as follows. Why would he need kickers? If someone placed anywhere from 33rd place all the way down to 64th place they would receive 50 CP's from World's that just finished toward this year's total CP's they earn to be used towards World's 2013. In effect he's saying that it doesn't matter how many people attended and played in World's .... here's what we're giving you (or... here's what you earned according to how you finished at World's 2012).

3 age categories had three different amount of players, perhaps there's a difference he didn't specify?
