To Magic Umbreon: Excellent suggestion but your post raises an interesting rule question: are the new GE level X"s considered basic Pokemon for the purposes of Roseanne's Research, Mantyke, etc. (as I am sure you are aware Holon Mentor can't pull Palkia level X because of his 120 HP). I simply don't know so I am going to post that question on "Ask the Masters"--stay tuned. I will consider a Holon Mentor, but I am wary in this deck of a card which discards since the only cards I have o get cards back from the discard pile are Suicune and Night Maintenance (not to mention that Roseanne's can get you badly needed energy).

To Blade Rush: Appreciate you showing me your deck list. Everything looks good except the Floatzel line--would there be a stronger line which could do the same thing (I honestly don't know). Also, like the other forum members who advised me, have you considered adding Lapras--he really looks like a superb starter but really is only practical in a water deck. By the way, is anyone playing Cresselia Level X in your area--I like both Absol ex and Rayquaza ex in different decks but wonder if I need to remove them because of fear of losing three prize cards in one shot with Cresselia Lv.X's attack.

No, Palkia Lv X is not a Basic Pokemon or an Evolution card for that matter - it is simply a Pokemon. So the only cards that can get Palkia Lv X are cards that say 'a Pokemon' like BeBe's Search and Dusk Ball or older cards like Celio's Network or Master Ball that say 'a Basic Pokemon or Evolution card.'

Urgh sorry I've been a bit of a bufoon.

I know Palika LvX isn't a basic, but I thought Mantyke let you search for a "basic pokémon or evolution card". Which it doesn't, I thought Mantyke worked like Pichu.

So yeh, ignore my post and all. Mantyke isn't too great a card :p

I really don't see the point of using sabeley when you never remember to excavate John.

I like the deck but it seems that these chan could be mad

take out
Suicune
Crystal Beach
1 premier ball

add in

2 windstorm
1 Glacia's Stadium (you never know where Vire could pop up)

Jason,

Appreciate the suggestions though you are starting to write in Conover language(I assume "chan can be mad" translates into "changes can be made".) I have already taken out Suicune and Crystal Beach when I got home on Saturday. I am debating Windstorm because very few Timewarpers seem to be playing Cessation Crystal anymore. Any thought from you or the rest of the crew for a good stadium to be pulled out by Palkia?

Thanks and now every time I see Sableye, I'll think of you and remember to Excavate!

John

Dear Master of Puppets (didn't see your post at first on pg.2!)

1. I find it hard to get out all 3 Empoleon at once and so Empoleon Lv. X really doesn't cause problems with consistency (plus Premier Ball makes it so much easier to get!)

2. I often debate with my Timewarp colleagues about PlusPowers versus Strength Charm. I like Strength Charm because it is searchable (and now even searchable with Lapras), and also since you just use it and then discard it and don't keep it attached to your Pokemon like other tools, you don't run the liability that you run with other tools (e.g., Electivire Lv.X). I know Plus Powers are stackable and hence you can get more bang for the buck, but I'd rather go for the sure thing!

Good luck.
Go Empoleon!

sorry John my key-board is terrible, it's like you have to smash the keys to get them to work.

And if you or CJ is using that deck for states, then then you should atleast put at least one CC in IMO.

PS-Don't change for PP because you don't have a Jeffey Plus Power

Dear Jason,

Always appreciate the advice from our league's star middle division player (and crush for the female players!). Getting serious, CC would probably be useless for me because it would shut off Palkia Lv. X's Restructure Power (as well as the rare instances Empoleon Lv.X gets out and we can use Supreme Command). In our Timewarp Metagame, I only see CC working in a deck with almost no Pokepowers/Pokebodies, like Empocario where you can declare "Stance" and then play CC right after that, otherwise I'd rather go with my Strength Charms in this deck as the searchable tool for Lapras(but you're not wrong, CC could wreak havoc on Pokepower/body heavy decks like the Conover deck (Gardevoir/Gallade/Cresellia)).

Hope to see you and Mom tomorrow,

John

how is the deck playing out for u???my palkia emp aka (Your high Xaulted ones) deck runs pretty good but w/ it beening slow sometimes...just wondering how the speed is during battle...Glacias stadium is a good water stadium or speed is always there..or lake boundary..u need a solid stadium for palkia...also have u thought about lapras???

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to update my deck (will do so tonight after our weekday league), but I took everyone's advice and added two Lapras and find they are working great. I agree--I'm still not sure what the best Stadium would be for palkia. In my area, very few people play Electivire (making Glacia' stadium a waste) and very fe people play Magmortar (making Lake Boundary a waste). Suggestions from the forum?

BTW, what metagame cards are you hoping to counter with holon wp as in other people's posts and do people think it is worth it?

if you really want a stadium or two in there, and dont care for lake boundry and glacia's, you could play battle frontier or speed stadium.
although speed stadium usually helps your opponent more than you.
