Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A lack of organisation is really restricting OP

We have the Pokemon Organization, which trickles down to PTO's, which trickles down to TO's, and you're saying it's a "logistical nightmare?"

TOs are all on their own. Any interaction or collaboration between a PTO and a TO is between the two of them and isn't mandated. TCPi for the most part stays out of TO affairs as long as they follow the rules. A PTO at least gets the benefit of having TCPi advertise their events and gives them some extra resources. TOs get nothing because TCPi doesn't have a vested interest in prizes and brand image -those regular sanctioned events are all on our shoulders. We do get recognition in the event locator, but that resource hasn't helped me get any players in the door for my events. I take it upon myself to do the job. If I have one concern its the player rewards system. Those sanctioned tournaments are worth a point to the player rewards, but not everyone gets them if they're issued at all. They're working on that, though, so let's see where that goes.

Although I understand the frustration with lack of information during the beginning of a new year, I have to beg to differ that it is really restricting OP. Look at NATS every year it is getting bigger and better, that I hardly call restricting.

In all fairness to this argument, Nationals gets announced quite far ahead of time compared to other events and is planned much more thoroughly. It has to.

Player rewards go to players who have registered on the pokemon.com website and participate in league and events...if they do not register, they do not get rewards..

Just because they have valid pop id's does not mean they will receive rewards

When was the lasdt time you got player rewards? I was under the impression they dont even exist anymore tbh oo"

I don't even know how to respond to this anymore. We have been told that they're working on getting them out ASAP. We've even been told why (indirectly) they are so late. P!P knows we aren't happy with how late they are, but they know we would have been even more unhappy if they sent us promos that were unplayable in the current format.

This is not me trying to defend P!P. This is me saying that corrective action has been promised, so to bring it up EVERY SINGLE TIME there's a thread bashing P!P or it's PTO/TO/League Owners/OP Structure/Pet Cats is completely unnecessary.

Can we just agree that we've beaten this horse to death and find something else to complain about?

It was an honest question, the lasth thing I heard about were those rare candys and Im not even sure what happened with them.

Just to throw this out there: 97% of my league is registered and all of them participate in the rewards program. I almost just wanted to say 'No duh, man', so there's that, too.

Can we just agree that we've beaten this horse to death and find something else to complain about?

Are we really complaining or discussing amongst ourselves ways that things could be better? Improvement is Jello, There's always room for Jello, man. Maybe the same thing can be said about complaining -and if that is the case, then I hope you left room.

Even though nothing has been officially announced about Battle Roads or Worlds invites, I'm going to assume there's no point in me trying for a Worlds invite via ranking. Even if I were to win an invite, I couldn't afford the $1200 trip to Hawaii.

What I don't understand is why PTOs have been briefed on the 11-12 season and even the 12-13 season (based on what I read in another thread), yet the public has heard nothing. Would it really be that horrible for PTOs to disseminate that information to the public?

Scizor knows what he's talking about. I completely agree with everything he's posted.

As a player I feel like i'm on a different team from the judges/P!P. When players suggest any things we think should be changed about tournament organization, we get our heads bitten off by judges saying that we don't understand how hard they work. For you judges, the point has been made enough. The playerbase understands you work hard. But try to understand nothing you do is perfect, there is always room for improvement. It's not a personal shot. Listening to these suggestions are what could make your events better for everyone. If something is wrong, why not try and fix it?

Two years ago the socal players were unhappy because the events were taking way too long; we were playing masters top 4 at 2 AM at California states. Some players were also unhappy about how our number of rounds was lowered to 7 when we had more than enough for 8. These issues were posted, and look what happened last year. SoCal Regionals was 8 rounds, T32 cut and we were still done by around midnight. These guys really made an effort to fix what we told them was wrong, and look where it got us. This kind of player/organizer communication is what needs to happen, and for it to happen consistently BOTH sides need to make an effort. Let me just say thanks to the judging team for that event. There are some issues to be fixed on the whole cities situation, but that's a topic for a different day.

I feel like the judge/player relationship is on its way to getting better. I can't say the same for the player/P!P communications. This is so frustrating. They refuse to give us any information, though they are willing to give info to the judges. Where is this getting us? What good is coming out of keeping players in the dark? The #1 priority should be getting information to the players, and somewhere along the line they forgot that.

It's called a Non-Disclosure Agreement. -_-; Basically, they're not allowed to say anything until it's public knowledge/they're told they can. PTOs have their hands tied.

Can we PTO's do a better job of getting our events out there for people to know about....yes.

I will admit to not doing EVERYTHING possible to do so.

But...(and there is always a but)...over the years we have discovered that on our end, much of the advertising we do is cost prohibitive and the PREMO places where we can advertise our events are cut off from us.

Did you know...PTO's are unable to advertise their events in Targets, Walmarts, and Toys R US? Those stores are the source of most purchases of Pokemon cards and we can't post any ads for events due to corporate decisions by these companies.

Newspaper ads are costly and at least in my area, rarely reap any benefits.

Vince in St Louis has had some great free advertising in the TV media due to the successes of his player base, but that is spotty at best.

The on-line site does need work in having our events front and center. It lags behind in timing for sure.

The best source we have found for players has always been word of mouth.

This is a great thread and I appreciate the thought behind it all...we all want more players at every event so you the players can have the largest turnouts possible.

It's possible some of that information isn't 100% final, which is why it hasn't been released yet.

I do have to say that as someone who tries to cover as many events as possible, it would be nice to have earlier notice about some of these things. If I had to guess at the reason I'd say that P!P is just generally understaffed.

I don't think the point was the NDA of the PTO's, but P!P's lack of releasing anything so the PTO's can say something.

I agree. I was mostly just saying it's wasn't any fault of the PTO's. ^^; I do find it rather disturbing that we find out about all these major changes the day before the first BR, though. I generally only attend 3 or so BR's and CC's each time around. I COULD have rearranged my work schedule to go to two this weekend, but I didn't find out in time. So if I chose to be competitive this cycle, I'd already be at a disadvantage.
