Abomasnow: The New Age of Spread

I agree with Shadow about the matchup for exactly all the reasons he listed. However, with your mewtwos, zongs, and cresselias, your speed of setting up a t2 abomasnow will be slowed down more than a deck that runs less pokemon with +powers. Even by a turn, tyranitar gets a tremendous advantage, and Ryan is absolutely right about Abomasnow being wiped out once the t-tar is built. To put it in snow play range, You'd have to snow play about 3 times, not to mention that snowplay can't touch Weavile.
I play the deck with 4 drawers and have no problem outspeeding snow most of the time while taking little damage.

Yeah I am done arguing bout matchups, the person posting the reply is always right

Every deck does have bad matchups but the one thing I seem to like bout this format right now is there are not alot of auto losses out there for any deck...most decks have a shot. As well anything can happen Playing Nathan round 2 in swiss I had like the most horrid setup and he just swept right through me I never had a chance, in Top 4 we both had setups going and they were good games. So can never go by anything this game can be just as much about luck as it is skill.

For people that like spread decks then give this one a shot and see if it is for you, it is gaining popularity and I know of 2 city championships that it has won masters (Mountain Grove and Sedalia) so its no push over deck by any means. On a personal note I wont be playing this deck most likely at Rolla, not cause I have issues with it or dont like it, I am just one that likes to play different things and switch it up. So far in 5 cities I have attended I have played 4 different decks making top cut with 3 different decks.

SO play it dont play it, love it or hate it, always play your style and what feels right and GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE this weekend...and for anyone in Missouri Make it out to Rolla for the final weekend and lets have a great time.

^ya, your setup was pretty horrible...lol, mine wasn't good either.

Top 4, it would like I had a good setup, but I really didn't man, I used up all resources to keep up with your speed, thus, making my deck lose late game. Early to Mid game was all mine, late game, you had me!

Game 2, lol...10 more minutes would have been nice:p

I played Obama at 4 cities (T4, T8, 1st, 3-2(faced two grass decks)) and I can definitely tell you that your version would lose to T-Tar/Weavile.

They put on 6 energy or 5 with 2 special darks via Weavile and simply OHKO whatever you send up repeatedly. You almost always need to use at least 1-2 powers (an Uxie or something).

140hp is too much for Obama. Even with spreading, you need to 2-shot it with below zero, needing 3 energy. They simply GRIND OHKO you. They can easily set up 2 T-Tars to grind to victory.

I played a good 6-7 tyranitars at cities, so I definitely have a familiarity with the different variants and what ends up happening.

If they don't run weavile, you have a chance simply because they're slow and you rarely use powers. If they use weavile... you're in for a rough match without the right pokemon techs.

You should never be able to TS-2 a good player's T-Tar because they should have an Unown G on it.

I thinks you guys should really ask Ryan for advices since He did TECH in a lot of stuffs when he play in Georgia to increase his match-up vs Regi and T-Tar.

Yeah this deck might auto lose to most grass decks, but really people how many of those are being played??? In the few cities I've attended ive seen almost no grass at all. At most it might cost you one match loss in the swiss rounds, cause I really doubt you'll see grass in the top cut of most citys. Torterra, Scizor, Tangrowth, and Leafeon variants are the only viable grass decks and they arent seeing much play in my area. So, IMO I wouldnt worry about grass too much, at most 1 match loss if you happen to get paired against one. And dont count out Mewtwo Lv. X in the grass matchup, ya never know.

Also, I would very much like to hear what Ryan Vergel would put in the deck to combat T-Tar. I have no doubt that hes right that T-tar is a tougher match than one would expect, but Im honestly interested as to what he would do differently in the deck.

And for you folks worried about Regi decks, this deck is playing 2-2 Mewtwo line. Nuff said.

This can definitely beat Scizor/Cherrim if you play it right. I have done so with it. Just saying, if you can figure it out, then more power to you

good job shawn....

i quess that you have to take CRITISISM from people who think that they are always right(not saying that they are not right sometimes...)

again... good job!! Keep it up!!

Is Cress X going to help your match up with T-Tar or Regi since those two are popular decks rite now?
Mewtwo X can handle Regi , but what about T-Tar?

What terrible list was that Scizor/Cherrim running, or did they simply have 1 basic 6 energy starting hands each game? Abomasnow's first attack and Bronzong in his entirety become worthless for the matchup. The only way you can possibly win is through Mewtwo, and even he is two shotted. I really don't see how this list does anything but auto-lose against Scizor/Cherrim, but if you can explain something I'm missing, by all means.

If your a good player it beats it, you hit them for 60 move damage with Cress and then hit for 60 again and that's the ball game boys and girls. A good player can win.

Scizor > Abomasnow

If your a good player it beats it, you hit them for 60 move damage with Cress and then hit for 60 again and that's the ball game boys and girls. A good player can win.

First of all, using your logic, you'd need two Cresselia LvX's or 1 Lv.X and a Pluspower to knock out the Scizor since its body reduces the damage you do by 40. Otherwise it'd be left with 10 HP.

Second of all, who's to say that a good Scizor player would let you hit for another 60? Unless you just evolved Abomasnow from Snover, in which case the paralysis would give you a KO unless they've got Warp Point/Switch, but how long can you keep that up? Eventually, you'll be missing chances thanks to Accelerate KO's, which also allows the Scizor player ample opportunity to set up more Cherrim or Scizor, which you definitely cannot afford. On average, the Scizor player will easily have 2 Cherrim out, nullifying your Snow Veil, whereas you can't really nullify Honeycomb Defender unless you've got 4 Pluspowers handy (or two Pluspowers, a Buck's. and a Cresselia Lv.X, etc). Am I saying it's an impossible win? Most definitely not; it definitely depends on the build. But Scizor's got an edge.

That being said, Dialga G Lv. X will leave both decks crying in a dark corner.
