This is a great article; I learned a lot! Thanks!

I had never realized how powerful Absol ex is! I've had two and just traded them away without ever knowing!

well written kempley i think the fact sami showed u at nationals how good it was........u should put his win at nationals in ur article, lol

This deck is the BDIF besides Destiny. I love it and its bout time someone made the article cause this will be played at worlds.

Even if they do draw into the 3 windstorms, how do you get rid of 4 cursed stone and 4 cessation crystal? Even if both were in play and each windstorm could get rid of 1 of each, that still leaves 1 cursed stone and 1 cessation crystal out there.

You forgot that this deck runs two Stadiums.

great article kempo!

What was the Northwest regional tech?

I like this deck, but not enough power for my style of play!

Great article Kempley, you do a very good job of describing your matchups and how Absolutions can win (or lose) against certain decks. I do feel the Mario matchup is wrong though. 70-30 against a deck that you're nearly entirely weak to? That's like saying that Feraligatr/Queen is 70-30 against MetaNite.

The only thing I don't like about this deck is that it's very good but also extremely expensive. I don't even think I own a Jolteon ex, much less a shining one. I would have liked to play this deck sometime during the season, but I was never able to get hold of all the cards.

yea, finally we got absolution thread! (Even if it's for like less than a month's time before it's death)

i love this deck, but if i dont get the T2 spread, i find it very difficult to make a comeback

I think this list MUST have a farmer and MUST have a Scott to get the Stumps out......and yes this deck beats Mario....maybe not 70-30 but maybe 60-40. This is the BDIF right now.....but I don't know how it will do at worlds because I would hope many people have been playesting against this deck because this will be the most popular deck. Not many will succeed with it because it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of this deck....even though it isn't as hard to play as Destiny is but, you can't help notice the similarities between the decks...

It's the best deck in the format, it's the most playable deck at Worlds, It will 80% won 1 age group and it can beat any deck that is teched against it. This deck surely will have some new techs for Worlds because Mew ex is just simply so VERSATILE, there is nothing you can do about it.

Anti-Absol strategies; Re: Andy

Apart from use Flare Blitz or Jirachi ex.

The TeCh Kempley used to win the Northwest Regional. It's not that amazing, he quite possibly discarded it from teh build for a reason. I just like to stir things up.

Your latilock > this. Seriously, maybe I have a warped perception of your latilock but everything's right about it in beating Absol.

Now now children, this BDIF nonsense is becoming silly. :nonono:

Deoxys ex techs can really mess this up. If they cannot win the game early on, then Fastwave can 2HKO Absol ex allowing a Rayquaza ex to finish it off or OHKO Mew ex, or you can use Psychic shield to stop damage. Now you need a Mew ex counter to stop them copying fastwave for the KO on your Deoxys ex if they can drop a Jolteon*.

Wobbuffet PK practically walls Absolutions or at least Justin's build, plus Mew ex can't copy its attack for immunity as it lies in the body. Flip over will OHKO Mew exs, otherwise send out Deoxys ex.

Mew fastwave ohko

lionheart absolutions was just mainly straight absol ex and eeveelution ex so yeh, he only have one major weak point. hehe.

yeh, decks may be consistency without any techs :p

"Flip Over" doesn't apply weakness or resistance, so it won't get the OHKO on Mew ex, and both "Flip Over" and Deoxys ex's "Fastwave" take three energies to use, so I highly doubt you'll get set up fast enough to use those two attacks effectively. The Wobbuffet wall will just be broken by Mew ex or Vaporeon ex using "Fastwave," as it gets through everything but still includes the weakness.

I personally think that a better tech would be something like Lucario with Cessation Crystal, though that doesn't normally fit in every deck (and the psychic weakness is still there anyway). In my opinion, the absolute best deck to go against Absolutions is Flygod, as you have resistance against Jolteon ex's and you have an easy OHKO against everything in their deck. The only problem is Absolution's pure speed factor.

==FLIP OVER (Wobbuffet - EX:Sandstorm)

Q. Wobbuffet's "Flip Over" says "...does 10 damage to itself, and don't apply weakness or resistance to this damage." Now what doesn't apply weakness and resistance, the 50 base damage or the 10 damage to itself?
A. The phrase applies to the damage being done by Flip Over to Wobbuffet. Weakness/Resistance is ignored for the damage being done to itself. (Sep 25, 2003 PUI Rules Team)
The card doesn't explain this very well though.

The ignoring of weakness and resistance only refers to the 10 damage Wob does to itself- Mew ex would get one shotted

EDIT: its above. please delete post

Oh sweet. Thanks for the clarification. For the longest time I believed that Wobbuffet's attack couldn't hit the defending Pokemon's weakness. Mewchou's right though, the wording on the card itself isn't very clear.

But yeah, I personally wouldn't use Wobbuffet to counter Absolutions.

Yeah Faswave just tears through safeguards like Wobbuffet, Wobbuffet is jast plain bad in this format. I think Absolutions with Mew ex and few teches have answer to anything and it can win any deck with a decent start and with a great player. Seriously it's the BDIF at the moment...
