1. The only thing wrong with the new format is the coin flip to go first. They need to balance out going first.
2. For those complaining about a lack of variance in the metagame: MagneBoar, MegaJudge, Kingdra/Yanmega, Stage 1s, ZPS, TyRam, LostGar, Tyranitar, DonChamp, Trainer lock variants... All are viable decks. After our next set and the set after that, MANY more things will become playable and only a handful will become less playable. This is a far more varied format than MD-CoL.

If you don't like donks, don't play babies. There are alternatives.
At Nationals, I made T32 in Masters with a deck I built several days before. I ran two Elekid, one Cleffa, and one Tyrogue. My opponents' Reversal flips were probably about 50%. I went first around 50% of the time. I went 6-3 in Swiss... two of those losses were due to misplays. In T128, I played Frank Diaz who had gone 9-0 in Swiss. He had gone first nine times. He also went first against me and rolled me the first game. I donked him game 2. Game 3 was a drawn-out game in which we both got set up, and I ended up playing a perfect game to barely eke out the win.
That's right. He went first, and I still won. :O
In T64, he went first both games. I beat him badly both games... he got nothing going.
He went first, and I still won. In T32, Curran Hill donked me game 1. I went first game 2, and we had a decent game. I think he ended up beating me 6-3 or 6-2. I'm not bitter, because I played well enough and made it pretty far.
For those of us who have played in an SP-dominated format for three years, HGSS-on is a breath of fresh air. There are answers to everything EXCEPT the opening coin flip. If you don't like getting donked, play Manaphy. If you don't like your opponent's babies staying asleep, play Circulator. If you don't like Reversal, wait until Catcher comes out.
Balance the coin flip and HGSS-on just might be my favorite format ever. It's so much more open than you people are giving it credit for.
