Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

APT's Autumn Battle Road Experiences

I am enjoying the way that you win with Mario, yet still complain.

About TRUK, I saw it in action today, with a good player. It went 2-2.

Look, Jeremy can play any deck and win. He even admits Mario is inconsistent, and he did play 2 Blisseys and a Theme Deck.

The truth is: Mario is an inconsistent deck, who's best chance of winning is at best getting the 25% (again at best) shot at getting a FTKO (Go first, and hit the Wild Kick heads).

I'm pretty sure there is plenty of evidence to support this, I mean 5 T1 wins in the Grinder? Then, you have others who just completely bomb with it.

Whether Jeremy can win with any deck or not is, first of all, inaccurate. Certain decks work and certain decks do not work, no matter who plays them; furthermore, good decks do not work for everyone. Second, the statement is irrelevant: since Jeremy is a superior player, we must assume that he instinctively played a deck which he thought to be both sound and strong.

The truth is: Mario is an inconsistent deck, who's best chance of winning is at best getting the 25% (again at best) shot at getting a FTKO (Go first, and hit the Wild Kick heads).

Your assertions are, first, contradictory, for you say "the truth is" as if you know the truth, and then you state "I'm sure there is plenty of evidence to support this" which notes your own ignorance of the truth.

Second, your statements are arrogant, as if you have any authority. When have you played Mario? If you were truly interested in the truth, you would ask questions, and not produce inaccurate information. Erik Nance, well-known great player and all-around nice guy, won Greensboro, NC BR yesterday with Mario. I was there, so I "interviewed" my friend on his experience: in his own words, the deck is amazingly efficient (strategy, energy, attack, defense), and consistent.

Third, your statements do not reflect truth at all. In every game with Mario, if I do not get the upper hand with Riolu early, Mario still goes the distance and comes back amazingly. At Greensboro yesterday, I lost to Flygon EX w. Drapion and Claydol tech, yet my loss was not due to overwhelming odds, but in that I needed 1 card to win and couldn't get it- just bad luck. This game lasted until time was called. I also lost to Garchomp, but only barely, and due to, again, being 1 card short. This game went to the wire also. Erik Nance's final games vs Kricketune were also dogfights in which he triumphed. All of this *evidence* and more like it disproves your "theory" that without T1 donk, you lose automatically.

And yes, we know Rambolt won World's, but Mario placed 3rd at World's, so we're not exactly looking at the whole picture, are we?

I just though of the craziest idea! I think we should congratulate Jeremy on his 2 BR wins instead of discussing decks... Or am I just crazy?

XF XF XF XF!

Jeremy talked his metagame into playing blissey so he could play Mario as a JOKE because he already has his trip to worlds and everything and BRs don't matter too much anyways.

If this was a bigger tournament and Jeremy didn't have his free ride, he wouldn't put a Lucario and Machamp within a mile of each other. I'm pretty sure his FRIENDS know him well enough to know he didn't play Mario because it was "sound and strong".

And who is this "good player" who played the TRUK and went 2-2. The thing that makes the TRUK and the rest of our TRUK decks so good is the trainer engine called the TRUK engine. If this player you are talking about is not on team HB, then he didn't play the TRUK, he just played a bad Rampardos list.

I *do* congratulate Jeremy, but now I find it offensive, not only to myself but also to Jeremy, to say that Battle Roads "doesn't matter too much anyway."

Jeremy "talked his metagame" into playing Blissey? as if every person will play Blissey against each other. Who are these sheep and why should I count them as real competitors?

Jeremy should be congratulated on merit, not for making Mario work for himself, but because he chose wisely. As did the other 11 Battle Roads 1st-place winners that I have so far counted.

As to the player who played Rampardos, I don't name names, but he's well-respected in Pokemon, and you would instantly say so. However, you may be right- I don't know his exact list, nor if he was privy to TRUK philosophy.

Okay guys Mario/truk discussion in my topic is officialy ending thank you.

I didn't talk my metagame into playing Blissey, I played it at league cuz it's an amazing deck and people just ended up copying it (this happens to most of my decks that perform well at league =p). So Mario was a good choice, even if it's not one of my favorite decks.

Anyways yessonoeinsf im so good and havn't lost a premier tournament since worlds!
