I thought there was supposed to be big news announcement on september 1st about Regionals/the 2012 season?

Well, nothing so far. Pokemon.com has officially reset all ratings for the new season, but no announcements regarding changes.

Where was it announced that there was going to be a big announcement today or yesterday?
News to me.

Never formally "Announced" but with the changes that are coming, it seemed to be expected they'd announce something. Not to mention the people saying there would be.

Yeah there's always this misunderstanding. September 1st marks the new season, but anything noteworthy or any announcements usually come much later unfortunately :(.

If anything it slightly makes me frustrated. According to local PTO's Battle Roads should be beginning late September. That doesn't leave a lot of time to plan out days off to try and attend Battle Roads. If anything I would love to see the Rules and Resources page brought up to speed and the Battle Roads schedule announced along with confirming the general schedule of the entire Championship series. Just helps with the planning after all. I do believe there will be changes this year as local PTOs have hinted to me. How many changes and what, I do not know.

TO's told their local players to wait until Sept. 1st for announcements regarding Regionals/season schedule/etc

Yeah, that's what I heard, "Sept 1, big news".

As for Battle Roads, we have all our dates, they span from Sept 17 to October 9th from what I remember off the top of my head

I think that some of the confusion may come from unattributed PokeBeach news (dated Aug. 21st) that said that P!P would release information on the upcoming season on September 1st. Because there's no primary source cited, the reliability of that info is only as good as the poster.

Local Battle Road Autumn 2011 have been posted on the RMPO site. Those are set, I just don't have the times.

"Update (2:45 PM) - TPCi is apparently thinking about whether or not to allow all generations of Pokemon into the tournaments (not just Unova Pokemon). Again, we may find out more info on September 1st when they announce the upcoming season." In an update talking about the VGC Tournaments Pokebeach 08/21/2011

Yeah, I could kinda see how that might have gotten some people's hopes up, but I personally didn't think it was conclusive this info would be released.

9/1 is usually a big day around here, as that's when the new tournament season "officially" starts. That doesn't mean that announcements will happen that day.

I'm hoping to see or hear something by next Friday...

THIS omygod THIS

At this writing, Battle Roads are EXACTLY two weeks from now and there's not even anything on the official website about them?

When I got in this game competitively, I looked on the website to find out if any tournaments were near me.
Look at that! There happened to be a state championship a couple weeks away!

How are they supposed to keep attendance up? Would they expect a new player to randomly stumble upon the tournaments in a two week span? Any tournament deserves a one month notice at least.

Exactly. I can't book time off work unless it's at least 3 weeks away, I can't really play in BRs now :/
