Box Ratios changed?

Sure, Pokemon can change whatever they want, but it's bad business. The statistical value of packs have become super low.

...

The pack is dead to the smart player.

Bad business for who though? Their goal isn't to cater to those who are smart enough to game the system. It's about buying a pack and being happy when and if you pull something good, not playing a game of statistics and predicting when you'll pull something good.

The pack is still what it always was. A chance to pull a great card in the midst of mediocre cards. The only difference now is that the odds are now even for everyone again (until some code is once again broken).

Alienating any customers is bad business. I understand when they make decisions that help sell packs to randoms at walmart but alienate players, since the randoms are much more populated. But this does nothing to the randoms and keeps players from buying product. So it's a bad business decision.

There's no "gaming" going on. If you can buy something for $10.00 or the same thing for $5.00, which are you going to do? It's just simple math.

Note I've said nothing about weighing packs or figuring out print runs or anything like that. That's an entirely different topic, which by the way, isn't deterred by these changes.

It is deterred by these changes. There may still be a way to cherry pick boxes, but it's not the same way as before. That method just became much, much more difficult. That's a good thing for everyone.

I disagree. Not only does it not deter people from doing things like this, I believe it actually encourages players to do these kinds of things.

Players cherry-picking packs isn't a problem. Dealers cherry picking packs on a very large scale is a problem. Previously, it was too easy for this to happen. With this change, the algorithm for determing where Ultra-Rare cards are located in a given box is much more difficult to decode. There are particular reasons why this is the case that I don't want to discuss here, because I don't think people should be cherry picking packs.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that I see your point and you're certainly entitled to disagree, but I'm not sure you understand why the system was broken and how it was abused.

I have a better idea than you think. And it's always been more reliable to weigh the packs. Manufacturer errors happen and will totally throw off the print run from a certain point onward.

Again, hurting players/collectors to try and stop distributors from hurting players/collectors is really just shuffling the crap around. You still are left with crap.

EDIT:

Also, buying sealed boxes/cases meant that distributors couldn't pick over your packs. The fact that sealed product like this existed protected players. Now we lose some of the benefits of sealed product.

I have a feeling it's less about trying to deter cheaters or somehow making the boxes "more random", and more about having accidentally played 52 (thousand) Pickup with the boosters...

Bought 4 Gyarados packs. out of a box. 1 holo

What I did (which i dont know if its fair or not) was get atleast 4 (5 if theres a reset) packs of the same art on 1 side. so your ratio is atleast 25%.

Last set I observed that people were getting their stuff out of Darkrai packs. Thats how I got my Entei EX FA...

I've observed my local card store's Next Destinies box, that the pack resets were kind of odd. Theres no consistent pattern of pack arts. DEX seems to have done the constant pattern again but they must have randomized each box's Ultra rares so no code can be broken.

Bought a case to share with friends. Out of the whole case, there were only 4 FA split between only 2 of the boxes. The six boxes had 16 EXes total including the 4 FA, and only 1 secret rare. Only 4 Hydreigon in the case as well, though a few more Garchomps.

Was trying to introduce a few people to the game and had thought based on the past few sets that boxes will generally be the safer bet. Very disappointed. Will likely never buy a box again let alone a case if these whacky ratios are going to be the norm.

I can't wait to get my blisters and boosters.
I never purchase a box DX

Yeah man idk whats better.

Box or 31 blisters, buying the other 5 somewhere else.

Box: Too expensive, more holo's, 3-4 Ultra rares.
Blisters: less holo's, more ultra rares.

Im pretty hyped about this set, im having a hard time finding the weird side of DEX on youtube.

Box One: Mew FA, Registeel

Box Two: Ray FA, Giratina EX, Hydreigon

Box Three: Ray FA, Giratina EX, Hooh EX, 1 Hydreigon, 1 Garchomp.

I got ONE WFLM Blend.

I want a refund.

I bought a second box because my first one was so terrible. Giratina-EX and Registeel-EX. No full arts. No shinies... basically it was an even WORSE box.

For the last year I've pre-ordered a box for every new set a month in advance. I'm not only not doing that for November's set, but if it turns out the pull rates are just as hideous in BW7, I'm not buying a box of it at all. This is horrible.

I just got my six cases. I've only opened one box so far, but it had:

1. Shiny Ray
2. FA Terrakion EX
3. Giratina EX
4. Ho-oh EX
5. Rayquaza ex

me likey.

My boxes were fairly standard. First one had Terrakion EX, Giratina EX, Registeel EX FA and Reuniclus SR. Second one had Ho-Oh EX, Mew EX and Giratina EX FA.

My box had 2 full-art EX cards (Ho-Oh and Giratina), two regular EX cards (Ho-Oh and Terrakion), and a Shining Serperior. I got 2 of the "good" Garchomp, but no Altaria or Hydreigon.

I think I got lucky considering what some people have claimed.

My box had Ho-oh EX FA, Registeel EX FA & a Ho-oh EX. 1 garchomp rev, 1 hydreigon rev, 2 ninetails, 2 aggron, 2 wailords, 2 altaria, 7 tool scrappers, 4 of each other trainer, 6 WFLM & 1 of the other blend. only 2 emolga's & 2 bouffalants,

box could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse i guess.

Box 1: Registeel ex, Rayquaza ex, FA Terrakion ex, Hydreigon, Garchomp, Sigilyph, 2 Altaria
Box 2: Giratina ex, Terrakion ex, 2 Garbodor, Altaria

Rough box for #2
