Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Chuck's Rockford BR Report w/decklist

How does this even WORK with 1 LEGIT draw card?

Almost all your games were won with lucario + cess/winning a wager.

Why not just cut empleon for something useful?

2 (wager is legit draw!)

Nelson makes a good point...only two cards really don't do justice in a format where Wager kills everything (including this deck). He's also right about the energy: Castaway will only do so much for you, and only a combination of three DRE/Scramble is a little rough.

Nice job at your BR though, Mr. B. It doesn't really matter "what" our lists are like right now because they're Battle Roads hehe.

Actually I was considering the Copycat his one legit draw. Im sorry, I dont find wager good draw. It has the chance of giving you 3 cards off your hand. That definitely is not stable draw :p

DCP: If you notice in all his reports he plays the one wager early so he can try and donk them with lucario. I dont think he would ever hold it that wait to let that happen.

Which is how he won almost all of his games. Short of playing vs Infernape.

Everytime he lost with wager, he lost the game.

The sad thing is, he prolly won most of those games off winning his opponent's wager. If he's drawing that single wager every single game, I'd almost say donkage.

Poor wager recovery, almost no draw, incredibly shoddy search. Seriously, how are you even supposed to make quick ball work when you aren't even drawing them? If it weren't for the large number of people that prolly attended this BR, I'd call the list a complete fake.

The Truth Is Out There.

I agree that the list is pretty bleh. Round 1 was my first time touching a card since worlds. The deck was thought up literally hours before the tourney. When Jason handed it to me (i borrow decks from him :-D), his first words were "dude I think this deck sucks". I really wanted to test the "Ball" engine though, because it seemed so good in theory. In the decks defense though, it's infinitely more consistent than you would think. Give it a try sometime :-D.

As for bad wager recovery, name a deck that has GOOD wager recovery. Have them drop a Cess vs your Chansey + Skitty and lose a wager. I guarantee your win % vs competent players in that scenario is less than 5%.

good report buddy....yea i actually did play a single windstorm in my deck:eek: but i took it out for a single tims space distortion cuz i thought it would be more useful.....lol (seriously) but we did have a good game and yea i never recovered from that wager so it was game over for me:nonono:....ahaha

yea good job thou:thumb:

yeah, i may have lost to alex 3 times saturday, but what he wont tell you is my winning record against him in paper scissors rock. my superior ability to throw paper in a clutch situation like that is really what defines a champion. i demand my rating be adjusted!

Hey there 10x world Champ! Decks that play HUGE draw have the best chance - Bannette would have had a nice shot of pulling off a draw card with 4 in hand....Destiny is another deck that could survive the wager.

Basically, decks that aren't reliant on an overly complex combo (including most, but not all, stage 2 decks)!

Nice example of making a contribution when you can. Thanks for that. I learned stuff: report + bonus self-fix (plus good comments). Rarer than it should be...

The engine looks different, but maybe I'll make something like it up and play the 'bye' players during the rounds while I'm running the computer at BR this weekend.

I'm staring at the 1 ea Castform and DRE and just not getting it. I keep thinking 2xDRE > 1 ea ... not a suggestion or correction just expressing frustration with my brain. Would love to hear a comment that unlocks that one.

Congrats on T2, of course.

a deck ran 4 wagers with delcatty line can recover from wagers so well and it obviously smashed Empocario deck and you wouldnt believe the inferncatty record vs a speed empoleon deck :p

No rare candy, why?

because empoleon doesnt have any pokemon powers and it would be kinda silly to just use rare candy, just to strike up a quick attack. I mean if piplup had no energies and you just rare candy and attack the DRE, empoleon would only do 30. Besides prinplup does the same job as far as spreading damage out like crazy doing 10 to all or 40 to one of the opponents pokemon.

dunno if this was alex's logic but i think you play castform cause you play 2 different energy types, and lucario requires 2 fighting and empoleon requires 2 water, so its hard to mix and match, especially when you dont want to use a DRE on lucario. this is the reason you play dual ball over great ball, you only wanna play 1 castform but you need a way to get it. and he only plays 1 mentor... dunno why.

I've been playing 1 DRE and 1 Castform since before Nats. It works and is logical in the right setup.

Nice job Alex. Thx for the info.
