Yeah uhm if you're getting people from Ohio playing on NC teams and Texans playing on IL teams you might as well eliminate the 'city' part of it and just make it a team challenge.

Yeah, kind of lame when an area says "we are the best", but does not have enough players to field a full team of 6, without having to go to out-of-staters.
I mean, I understand (kind of) Jimmy in Chicago, he was there, but Ferrel in NC? does not make a lot of sense to me....
Was hoping this would be an area vs area challenge....not just team vs team, which loses a lot of its luster.
Now that we have momentum, we have to figure out where, and who vs who !!!
M45 - St. Louis WILL be there. (without psyduck and bigpoppabeatdown, but still with enough)

Actually, I am from Illinois, and I am pretty good. (I'm also 11-14). Downtown Chicago, actually.
I think I'm first in state, or maybe second, I'm not sure... Plus I'll be at origins. Whne I have more time, I'll read all the posts in this forum. ;x

Meg, no luster at all is lost with a team vs team challenge. If anything, it's more exciting. For example, I'd love to compete, but a couple members of my (VERY tentative) team are scattered about the US. If not, I may just play with Texas (if they let me in =P).

Just because most of us do not live in BIG cities like St. Louis. Yay! I think I'll play in TEAM AKRON. *invites 2 dogs, 1 cat, his shadow, and a bowl of Fritos to join his team* I think that this should have been done just as a generalized Team thing to begin with.
And please...it's Ferrell. Everyone spells it wrong. It's really annoying. It doesn't take that much effort to type and extra l.
EDIT: You also have to take into consideration the fact that players from across the country might not be ABLE to have a frickin "specialized team requirement" that you've set with the 11-14 and the 10- when it's hard enough for them alone to join. Just because you and your team personally has the requirement met, shouldn't dictate the whole pace for everyone else. Also, I think this little "grudge" thing you've got going on on with NEO is a little ridiculous. Just because some people in this state flaunt their egos, doesn't mean the rest of us do, so don't pre-judge me. I don't care about the special stipulations you put into effect, I mean the fact that I'm currently one half of the TMP Champions, might say something about my skill in Team... EDIT

It's hard for NEO to even play in this with a team. Its hard for us to afford the costs of 3 boxes on top of the origins cost especially when winners only net gain 1 box which is 6 packs a person. Not worth it IMO. Also its been a long time since I have even seen a good 10- or 11-14 player around here. I think the rules for this should be modified a little bit.

I think we all otta make this a regular modified tourney, so that skill is the major factor.
Or even better yet, unlimited. Jk. But honestly, every player could chip in, sayyy, 1 or two packs, for the winning team's prizes. I think it would work a lot better that way, and be more fair to the losing teams by not taking too much from them.

I will just call you Jim from here on out. As for the boxes, I really do not care, we need enough to do the Rochester Draft, so heck, each team just bring 2 boxes, just wanted to make it worth it for each side.

Not trying to offend everyone, but I have NO USE for a 15+ modified event. Does NOTHING for me, and proves nothing about the players. You want to come, play and draft with Team Ream....come on. If you want to do something else, go right ahead.
I thought this would be a fun competition format, and that is what we will be there to do.

A team is a team, name not with standing. All currently active members of team Chicago have a direct connection to the Greater Chicagoland area of one kind or another. It's just an extra point of pride that you might be able to put together a team that will stand the test and have a connection such as that.

Hey, I am not writing this to take flack over this event, which everyone agrees is a good idea.
Jimmy, you know, from meeting me personally, that I respect you and your son as players. The Texas/Chicago thing, I found just a fun way to play this out (and for the record, you are the best player in Chicago, your medal proves it), and I stated you could play for Team Chicago (yeah, like it's my choice).
Hey, I would comment on Team Florida, if I thought it would get them to come up and play in this team thing. The more teams, the better. I figure it is kind of what they were trying to get to with the whole "ladder league" thing.
All I was trying to avoid was a bunch of people getting together and "declaring" themselves a team that had no real regional connection. Hey, we all move. I know if we moved to a new area, we would still want to be a part of St. Louis until we got fully connected with the new area, because those are the players we have been through the trenches with (hopes not to get bashed for a subtle war reference).
Boy, this was meant to be a fun way to get teams together, and play for some bragging rights....
If the number of boxes is too many, then just come with AT LEAST ONE, so you can supply half of the Rochester drafting supplies.
Man, wondering if all this is worth it. I will be at the Poke-area on Thursday, late, or Friday, come bump into me, and we will set up the team thing where we can, and when we can agree to...is that informal enough for you?
Man, I guess I need to keep a lower profile with this type of thing, and just work it out privately with the few other "key" people who can make this happen with me.
Just goes to show, no good idea goes unpunished.
