Almost every pack that I pulled an EX I got a RH rare with it, but yes you still get an RH with an EX...

I believe what you are referencing is theHGSS block. The primes took the place of the rev holo in packs.

Mewtwo EX (sidenote, this was dubbed the God Pack. It contained Mewtwo EX, Gardevoir RH, Prism and Double Colorless Energy and a Skyarrow Bridge. I nearly pooped my pants)

Wow, I nearly got the same pulls from a pack, but my Mewtwo was a FA
 
My box had

Resiram EX
Regigigas EX
Shaymin EX FA

Unfortunately for me i already had all three prior to the box
But the next day I bought a Mewtwo Collection and got

Shaymin EX
Reshiram EX FA

So my luck was interesting this weekend
Final tally on my collection

3x Regigigas Ex
3x Reshiram EX (1 FA)
3x Shaymin EX (1 FA)

Ok so I finally got my box of 24 blisters from T&T and I weighed them out as accurately as I could- placing them in the exact same place with plastic face down on my scale. The packs werent certainly weighed by T&T but something else that was suspect to me was that I pulled 2 Kyurem EX FAs and no other EXs.


From the information I gathered was that- Holos and Regular EXs weigh the same at 3.1g, while FA EXs weigh 3.0. Regular cards weigh 1.8g. One Kyruem came out of a blister that weighed 29.8g and one came from one that weighed 29.6g- this could be due to human error of course, but I had 2 packs that weighed more than the 29.8 which resulted in standard holo. I had 5 that also weighed 29.6g which 4 of the 5 resulted in standard holos.

Another interesting note is that Holos and Regular EXs weigh the same at 3.1g, while FA EXs weigh 3.0. Regular cards weigh 1.8g

Out of 12 packs weighing 29.6 or more I pulled 10 holo/EX. Out of 12 packs weighing 29.5 or less I pulled 3 holos.

There is certainly a pattern here, but I honestly think the variances in the weight of the card stock and plastic that make up the sealed packages of blisters are too inconsistent to weigh the packs by any means- making them safer than buying loose packs out of a box at your local card shop.

I will test more once I get my next 2 booster boxes.

Ok, got my 2 booster boxes. One thing I did notice was that the packs weighed either 19.7-8 that had holos/EXs and that the FA pack actually weighed closer to non-holo at 19.5-6. However, there were holos in that weight range, but only a couple, and most of them fall in the former weight range. The final weight range I found was 19.3-4 which contained only non-holo rares. From this I can pretty much say with reasonable certainty that you cannot weigh 36 packs, and pick out just the EXs/FA and sell the rest off. Not to say that someone cant buy multiple boxes and just open weighed packs and make a box to sell out of leftovers- but it would require alot of time and effort. FYI though- Anime Forever, Troll and Toad and Gathering Grounds were the places I ordered my packs/boxes from and I pulled 3 EX per box and 2 from the 24 blisters I ordered from T&T. They are for sure reputable and legitimate so have no fear if ordering from them. The boxes were not tampered with either in any way shape or form. Local card shops would probably be the only place I would be wary of buying loose boosters or blisters- IF they sell singles too, which most do.


On a side note-

What is the resolution of your scale? I don't like it but a micro balance can readily identify the packs containing premium cards.
 
Since the standard deviation is .1g, you cannot use it to measure cards where the difference in weight can be .1g. You would need a scale whose d=.01 or even less.

Well I apologize, it was the only scale I had for use. Arent scales that are that accurate pretty expensive?
 
accuracy costs $$$ resolution on the other hand is cheap. How cheap? well around $10 for a 0.01g resolution scale.
 
And for something like this, accuracy isn't exactly the key. You don't care if each individual pack is weighed correctly. You care about each pack relative to another pack.
