Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Collection help

anyone know any good places to buy from offline?other than eBay.

Oh, one little note on that card value topic: Charizard base set 1st edition holo is worth around $60, correct? How much was it when it first released?

First released it was probably cheap, Pokemon was almost unknown when Base 1st Edition came out, it wasnt until the unlimited version came in which most people caught on to it, as this point Base 1st Edition Charizard was rising in value month by month hitting around the $350 max range I believe. 1st Edition Base packs were like at $50 a pack and boxes were somewhere in the $1000 range.

as for the comparisons of Pokemon to yugioh in terms of money spent to build competitive decks.

it might seem like Pokemon cost more, and it might depending on what it is your using, like the god forsaken rare candys. But I didnt have much to start with when I picked it back up from a competitive standpoint around when Fire Red and Leaf Green set came out and was able to win.

I think truly though it cost just as much as yugioh really, since yugioh decided to make reprint after reprint completely ignoring any collectors value to anything.

would people really want japanese cards in the future?
do the japanese cards typically go for more than the american cards? even years down the line?

I would say yeah because of its more collectible and has high rarity, back in Pokemons big prime in 1999-2000 I would bet any collector and player would of wanted anything Japanese, Ive seen it, but its cost was outraegous, the simple Coro Coro cards you would of paid high amounts. years down the line the rare Japanese cards is going to vanish, just about like that now where you go to Ebay and its hard to find Japanese pokemon promos from the early years, they will be held in Private collections.

so coming from a collector's perspective, japanese cards over english ones?
Im sorry if Im asking too many questions, but Im trying to get a feel of things before start collecting all english cards only to find out they are worthless(or not worth as much) and have to switch over to japanese(or vice versa).

Well thats just my opinion unless you grab 1st Edition base cards. why I say mostly Japanese over English is because of the one key thing, Rarity. Rarity makes a difference in price values some what, depending on which way the demand market goes which can be quite unpredictable.

One thing about English cards is they are mass produced so much its ridiculous, many years down the line you still going to find anything in english and probably wont be worth much, right now you can find Base, Jungle, all the black star promos so easily for dimes on the dollar.

I might not recommend japanese cards for a beginning player, since it could isolate you from the other players and it might be hard to trade them for other cards you might need. But once you get a good amount of english cards, and if you decide to play competitively, I would recommend getting japanese cards.
