Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Danish National

Nice, so all 4 Masters can (if they have the money) attend Worlds.

And Patrick his father is Bent??? He might be also there to play.

GJ to the winners!

Congratulation to Morten, who revealed to be the "surprise" of the tournament!

I'm sorry for Ardoptres....2nd place is the place of the best player at each tournament...so congrats for it!!

See you guys (and your SD) at Worlds!!!

Lia are you certain that is how invites pass down? In the past players have passed the travel award down but I'm not sure if invites can be passed down the placings at nationals in the same way. Not that it is likely to happen but if invites did pass down then it is possible that the 8th 9th or lower placed player at a nationals would get one of the nationals invites. My 2nd place invite from 2003/4 didn't pass down if I remember correctly.

It is certainly the case that Premiere ratings invites don't pass down the national placings.

There may be a special case made for worlds T4 invitees.

Michael, awesome job on the TV coverage!! I wish some TV station in Norway would do that some day.

I don't understand what you mean about this. :S

Premiere rating invites are determined after the last Nationals is held and all Nationals invites have been given out. Or are you just saying that if a T4 player (in let's say Norway or Netherlands where T4 gets invites) gets a premier rating invite on June 9th, the invite won't be passed down to the 5th place finisher? In that case, I think it's just logical because those invites are handed out after the invites for Nationals already had been handed out. Worlds invites just have to be different when they're handed out about 9 months earlier.

Tego, the example given on the OP website was for a Canadian player who recieved an invite at nationals who subsequently also gets a premiere rating invite. The double award to that particular Canadian player does not result in an additional Canadian going to worlds. rather it goes to the next player inline for that rating zone.

Suppose there are three invites at the UK Nationals. First place gets a trip, but 2nd 3rd and 4th decide they can't go to worlds. I don't think those unused Nationals invites get passed down to 5th 6th and 7th place at Nationals, even if 5th place has already bought a flight and booked the hotel room.

Congratz Morten ! I was rigth when I tipped you for winner earlier.. :) You amy be the "surprise" ( 3 nats won in 4 years therefore "surprise") , but after round 1 i fully believed that you would win ..

Nationals invites are awarded before rankings, so I expect them to pass down.
If a Nation gets 3 invites (like Denmark) they should be allowed to hand them out all 3 of them.
In the situation 1 of the top4 finishers already has an invite (obvious from Worlds) then the other 3 should be given away in the Denmark case to nr 1, 3, and 4.

For me it's simple, Nationals invites are handed out during Nationals. Starting by nr1 and down untill they are out of invites.
This had nothing to do with rankinginvites, those are awarded after all Nationals are done.
It also doesn't matter if an Invite (Nationals) winner isn't able to go, that invite is awarded.
But from my point of view for Denmark the invited normally given to Steffen F should pass down to the next player.

But that's my opinion.
Also in 2003/4 we didn't have any Worlds invite winners.

Lia, from memory my 2nd place several years ago did not pass down. I couldn't use it so it expired. Worlds winners may be treated as a special case, but that still leaves the question open for other nationals where say 2nd place cannot attend.

hehe I saw it comming Dark Celebi, knew the deck, but had no clue about how to play against it. :p I was in front with 1or 2 prizes, then he took 4 , doh!

Your second place was awarded to you, it doesn't matter if you can or can't use it, but it was handed out.
So the 3 of Denmark should be handed out to 3 Denmark players who don't have an invite.
If none of them uses them, well they might end up added to the grinder.

I think Lia is right.

Last year the Netherlands Junior final was between Arnoud and Olaf. Arnoud alright had a trip to Worlds because of his 3rd place finish in Worlds 2006. Arnoud won, but Olaf got the trip cos is passed down. Remember, second place didn't get an invite then!

So are you saying the invite shouldn't pass down? Arnoud would've won a second invite, and Olaf a trip without an invite? I don't think so :p

Ian, it's different if you win it and don't use it. If you already had an invite when you came second (for whatever reason) I'm thinking it would've been passed down.

Man, now I'm the only TBA member who isn't going to worlds (Because I have a feeling Allan or Guille won nats :p)

What a shame

Gratz to winners

Super E.. Yeah youre rigth, You knew what he was capable of... I switched the match for the match against the same deck where Mortens opponent was sure he was winning (4 prizes ahead) and then Morten suddenly drew ALOT of prizes in very few rounds with as good as no time remaining. (you would know :) )
