After the rotation of a number of key cards like DRE/Scramble, Celio/Stevens etc are all gone and will change the format quite alot.

G&G will deteriorate alot due to the loss of DRE.

Garchomp I feel will probably be the next BDIF due to DRE/Scramble going out, crystal shard and battle frontier are gone. 110 for 3 energy, but set up may be it's downfall, Garchomp/Claydol/Togekiss?

Magmortar will do much better (although suffer slightly from the loss of Scramble) but if run with Togekiss that shouldn't be a problem.

Empoleon MD? Does it need scramble that much? I dunno. T2 Chatot retreat for Empo MD 2 energies spread 30dmg to 2 pokemon would be amazing, adding Omastar only makes it more devastating. Will it mean Magmortar dies a horrible death?

Lots of decks abusing great starters, Pachi, Phione, Absol and i think with a free setup attack and free retreat Chatot will be massive. Although the new Jirachi will be just as good.

Leafeon lvl x + ??? - no doubt that without DRE/Sramble, energy acceleration will be much more usefull. But what to run it with? Sceppy? Eveelutions?

    Glaceon lvl.x + ??? - Stopping Claydol / Togekiss / Omastar will be huge.

Fossils, T2 Kabutops? Without DRE you wont be attacking, but by T3 you'll be stopping rare candies and spreading like wildfire (aslong as you can spread to the bench with Zapdos) or maybe Garchomp lvl.x (spreads damage to bench with power) then restore on a Kabutops and go crazy. Weakness to Leafeon won't help though. Aerodactyl to stop Claydol? Omastar to devolve after damage spread?

Claydol will be probably the most used card for set up in nearly all decks.

Will more bench space be needed this format? As a dusknoir tech may become even more deadly.

Will the format go back to how it was not long ago with Stage 1 decks dominating: Lucario / Blissey / Krikky / Bannette? Or the new Froslass?

    Thoughts / views?

Tentacruel is also nice but can easily be countered with Energy Switch.

Before any major tournaments in the next format new cards will be released, and i'm sure that a lot of decks you named there won't be used anymore.

New decks like AMU, Kingdra, Magnezone, Rhypherior, Gliscor, Mewtwo, and others will replace old ones.

Yeah, the next set will undoubtedly set the metagame in motion.

I do believe that Kingdra and AMU will be the 2 top decks of the metagame.
    BUT only time will tell.

Also, Rock Band doesn't really lose much power so that will prolly do well too.

I think next season Garchomp will be at it's best because it doesn't lose much from the rotation.

Hello Scott, my opinions are in bold:

I have high hopes for darkness decks. They performed very well at our Nationals, and the DRE/Scramble rotation can only mean good things.

Anyone noticed the only pokémon tools we have now are amulet coin and leftovers? I think that makes Unown Q a staple. I'll certainly be using it.

Togekiss is going to be mega. Might be good with Gallade/Gardy even.

^We also have Unown G which I find VERY useful in my Chomp deck.

Kingdra and AMU = Luxray, so basically we are going to have a pretty big format next season.

AMU though is probably going to be the best cause of it being basics and also have MAJOR set up abilities.

Kingdra is going to be another really good deck, cause of it's speed and reasonably high damage output.

Luxray is simply going to be a counter of both, so it is possible another deck will come out and take on luxray.

Also Darthpika and Myself claim owner ship of AMU, lolz.

Magmortar is going to die with Kingdra out there.

It really won't matter, because EVERYTHING will die to AMU.

    Some of my thoughts:

G&G is definately going to take a hit without their DREs or Scrambles; I wouldn't be surprised to see them paired with Leafeon Lv X to get going faster, as they still have Furret for support as well for searching him out.

Garchomp I think can rise, paired with Togekiss or some sort of energy acceleration support, it will be about as fast as any other deck. Plus, Garchomp LvX gives it a nice boost as well.

Magmotar should still be solid still, no DRE or Scramble hurts a bit, but since a good bit are paired with Typhlosion anyways, that shouldn't matter much.

Eeveelutions are going to be huge, they don't need to rely on DRE or Scramble (I'd think) as much and Leafeon Lv X + Glaceon Lv X and whatever other tech lines you want to put in make it a very solid deck still.

Empoleon is still solid I think, no DRE or Scramble hurts its ability to recover later on, but I think most will focus now on Dual Splash and potentially Omastar to just snipe free KOs from their bench.

Fossils...meh. Kabutops loses some of its luster without DRE, and Garchomp is a much better attacker if you want to power something up for 3 turns. Armaldo from Legends Awakened looks a bit promissing though.

Electric decks I think can make a comeback; Magnezone Lv X is a great addition for Steel and Lightning, and Rotom is also a blessing. And, if G&G popularity drops more, it'll be great VS Empoleon.

    Looking at Legends Awakened:

Azelf/Mesprit/Uxie probably will be a good (yet expensive) deck choice, given that you're running 3 main Basic Pokemon lines with their Lv X forms, it's all easy to search out, and a potential 200 damage every so often is very threatening, as nothing can survive a 200 damage hit.

I like the potential Heatran shows, it can be a dominating force if Water useage goes down more.

    And just in general:

Claydol will still probably be the #1 ran line, Cosmic Power is just that great still.

More decks in general I think are going to be adding either Leafeon Lv X or Togekiss to their line-up for energy acceleration. Both have their disadvantages (Togekiss being Stage 2 and a bit iffy for its Power, Leafeon Lv X for essentially being a s Stage 2 and less initial energy attachment), but I think they will find their way.

Watch out for Magnezone. The instant fire stops dominating, this demon will find some nasty ways to bring pain to the format. Giving free retreat to anything then transferring that energy to a new attacker, as well as free paralysis? Makes Dialga MD a viable starter, and combo's excellently with Electivire MD. Lets not forget new Rotom to get that Metal energy back.

Add all this to a psychic resistance and high HP's and you have a potential heavy hitter right here.

Cess Crystal goes away and Zone drops Glaceon LX in one shot. The only thing to fear is Fire.

we have to wait and see if either Scramble or DRE will be reprinted in a future set or Pop set. Which so far in the D/P era have yet to exist.

Japan still had them this year, and I can't see the game doing as well without them or at least a replacement.

Sure there are a lot of energy accelarators but they are mostly powers, or attacks. Which IMO attacks just don't do it as well as Powers. It's like comparing Omastar(PK) to Omastar(MD).

If powers r the main focus of NRG accelaration then we will have a another whole year of G/G pretty much dominating or Glaceon Lv. X.

NO DRE/Scramble??NO Cessation or Counter Stadiums??

Pixies Lv.X are looking really good, but how good will they be really be, I mean they can basically setup quick, but late game they look not promising. Its more of a speed deck which is nice but is gonna be the most expensive deck we are gonna hae for a while.

Kingdra looks good, but with Vire not worrying about GG/PLOX somewat,it can be big with Leafeon X. Energy Accel decks always seem nice.Kingdra will be a great deck since it will be so fast t setup and do massive damge for next to nothing.

GG probably will see less play, but people will play that deck, but only time will tell.

Magnezone X is good beyond belief, hes gonna see play for sure since Rotom can accel him and vire can also.

Eeveelutions not having DRE/Scramble hurts, but it makes them probably more playable since they can still attack for one and the Xs can stall and attack well enought to setup the base.

Empoleon will be how it is now, a 130 spreading tank. Not abusing scramble makes it less effective, but playable.

Chomp will be the same cuz its still gonna be better choices of decks we will have.

Speedrill loses nothing besides cessation and beach, which werent that effective it seemed since it setup fast anyway.

Rogues will be everywhere and any deck can do good with the new set.

But the only deck I wanna play is Banette, buts died after ths format.

So ima look to play Leafeon X/Blissey,Eeveelutions and the pixies lv x forms.

*Beedrill =\ loses Beach which is now irrelevant. What does matter is it losing Great Ball, Master Ball, and Stevens. It also loses Celio/Charm which it only played a single of anyway. It'll have to be reworked
