Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Dusknoir - what happened?

Anyone with solid play skills will have that answer. Dusknoir fails in many aspects in the format, it can easily be guarded, it is slow to attack, and has bad damage output.

Spread fails. Alakazam 4 LvX, Nidoqueen, Palkia G LvX, Super Scoop Up, and Poketurn are EASY solutions to it. Spread is dead.

Have you ever heard of Dialga G?

In fact, it makes your opponent work more on taking the damage off of ya.

A lot of countries have had their nats already. US however, has not, olliver.

Yeah that is why the prizes given to our Nats for the time being are boosters and invites to Worlds. We will have to wait for the rest.

On to topic:

Here the number of dusknoir decks decreased due to emerging gengar decks and nidoqueen. Still it is good built and like some said it gets around it or sometimes abuses it.

I was just talking to Jimmy Ballard over this weekend and we both thought that Dusknoir could make a comeback, but never really got to making a list for it. Queen is one way to help activate Ectoplasm.

If you look at the Metagame game on paper, Dusknoir seems to have a good match-up against a lot of things. Which is a good thing with a wide open Metagame.

Vs. Flygon: You have resistance and can reduce their bench. Your probably a little faster then it depending on what is being ran with each build.

Vs. Kingdra: You have Night Spin to give Kingdra headaches. Then with Queen Kingdra is only hitting for 40. I was also wanting to play the Promo Dusknoir, because IMO it's the best one, so with Night Spin from the SF #1 and Reaper Pulse from the Promo one Kingdra will probably never manage to KO.

Vs. Machamp: You have their weakness and Reaper Cloth Duskull helps against Donks. Plus a Uxie Lv. X swarm with Unown G attached pretty much beats Machamp.

Vs. Sp decks: This is the one tough match-up on paper because of Dusknoir's energy requirement. If you can keep up in energy you have a good shot. But Night Spin does help since they ran Energy Gain.

Vs. any dark: There is always Azelf Lv. X to get rid of it. Which was a common "tech" in Dusknior back in Cities.

I'll probably build a Dusknoir deck soon and get back to you guys on how it does against this Metagame.
