Elite Trainer Box feedback

Thanks for asking us for your input in this new product venture. I think the elite trainer boxes could be a great new product that will def keep players in the game and even make it popular. I believe that having those dice and markers are awesome to have and I hope you keep them around or at least maybe rotation some things in and out, just to keep the product fresh and keep players interested in collecting them. I'm very interested to see how the sleeves look, I hope they turned out well, I think that's one of the major things that got me very interested in getting this upcoming elite trainer box. If you put focus on neat stuff like that, I really think that this product will be very popular with new and veteran players, I know it's tough with the expenses on making the products, but like I said, you would always rotate things around, maybe one box for one set contain collectible dice and sleeves and the other box have a collectible (not cardboard) deck box and dice case...stuff like that...thanks

I seriously think if you want more data, make it more widely available.
I've been searching town after town with no luck.

It seems only specialty card stores carry then in Ontario.

The deck box is, as others have said, pretty useless. Between the fact that it is extremely flimsy and that it can't hold a sleeved deck, I can't imagine I would use it when I can store more in the slightly more durable prerelease deck boxes. That being said, the design does look very good.

I don't really use the damage counter dice, simply because I like the dice I have much better, and I have 36 of them. I would recommend making them in colors slightly less bold, so their colors don't clash with the cards' as much. The flip die is neat, but my states dice, regionals dice, and pokegym dice are much, much better looking in my opinion. For me to put one of the ETB flip dice in my dice bag for use, I would make it a nice color with pips of a different color (like a light blue die with gold pips, or a purple die with orange pips). The set logo is pretty cool, but I think I would prefer it being a tad smaller.

The box holds cards well, except for the minor things people have pointed out above.

The condition markers are very nice, but I feel like they would be redundant if people are getting multiple ETBs or getting them each set, because who really needs 6 burn or poison markers? I gave mine away, as I already have fantastic markers, so this judgement is from seeing them used rather than me using them myself. It's very nice to see easily accessible, high quality condition markers, however. I might keep my next ones.

Having all the basic energy is a great move, making it easy for people without them to get enough without picking apart theme decks. However, the box is advertised to more competitive players, so I don't think they're entirely needed. If there was a seperate product with, say, 5 holographic energies of each type with unique artwork (like the CoL ones had) every other year or something, people would love to buy them.

I think the Elite Trainer Box is a fantastic product. The one I have was given to me, but I plan to buy one of the plasma blast ETBs mainly for the sleeves, even though I already have everything I need from the set pre ordered. I feel like if the deck boxes were upgraded to plastic with a velcro flap, there were sleeves, maybe 5 packs, and dice, I would buy one every time.

I liked the idea, and agree that it should have been done a long time ago.

Things I liked:

Plastic counters for Burn/Poison
Dice (especially the "coin flip" dice)

Things I didn't like:

Deck box, maybe if it was plastic like the ones from pre-releases, then it might be good.
The container itself was OK if you don't have better options.
Personally I would love to have a Pokemon themed deck case like those ones you can get from Upper Deck (WWE Raw Deal got one).

Energy cards: if you are a long time player (or an "Elite" trainer) you should have more than enough energy.
If it was holo-foil or had a cool background it would be better.
I kinda want something with maybe "staple" trainers, or Pokemon that are useful in many different deck types.
Plus a promo card from whatever set the box is from would be nice.

The only small flaw with the dice, since a lot of people have these, it's really easy to either lose one or gain one.
Maybe provide a sticker to indicate which ones are yours?

Will most likely buy the next one (sleeves are awesome).
Not gonna buy multiples though.

I didn't buy an ETB for Plasma Storm, but I am planning on buying one from Plasma Blast. I think it is incredibly amazing that you are asking for the public's feedback and that you even incorporated that into the next ETB. That in itself is enough reason for me to support this product.

I just want to say thanks for listening to us Dylan. In a weird time regarding relations between TPCi employees and the playing community, I appreciate the time you take to not only ask for our feedback but actually act upon it.

-_-

So each box would have a pack of different miniature stickers?

The actual storage/packaging box is amazing and holds up very well. It's easy to store staples in when i travel to events and just drop them in my luggage without worrying about it getting smashed when my luggage gets tossed around. I have plenty of these boxes for use in my house too and they help organize a lot of my bulk and other cards that i have from different tcgs.

The poison/burn markers are a huge success as well. Nothing needs to be chanced.

I don't use the dice at all. I have same sized chessex dice for damage counters and use the states dice for randomizers. I really hate the plasma design on the damage dice since it makes it more difficult to count when quickly calculating damage/KO math during a game. They are sitting in a box somewhere and haven't seen the light of day since I got them.

For me, the deck box was trash. I threw it away with the wrapping paper when I opened it. I wouldn't trust my sleeved deck in a cardboard paper box and once the box gets creased, it won't look as good anyways. I think you guys can cut this and save whatever money you spent on manufacturing it for something better.

Packs were great, and more packs are always better. I don't mind paying more money for the next box when you throw in an extra pack.

I would like to see BOX DIVIDERS. maybe thick cardboard or plastic dividers similar to the dividers found in the worlds 2012 deck box. I think they would work well with the box and are a suitable replacement for the cardboard deck box.

All in all the product is a great addition to the pokemon TCG catalog. I've bought 3 of the previous ETBs (mainly for the actual storage box and the packs, but the dice and markers were great for trading and to keep as well). I'll probably buy a few of the newer Plasma blast boxes as well. I look forward to the sleeves the most.

Make it 27.99 for 7 packs and ill buy it. $35 is just too high. I love supporting/buying from my local shop but $35 is just a tad too much. I know it's only a $7 difference but its a much more attractive price.

I think you should include a couple copies/a play set of a staple trainer featured in the set rather than energy

How about just small white circles so you can initial your dice?
Not like you are rolling these dice.

It's mostly for big events & league where lots of people would have the dice.
Or if they don't have dice you can let them borrow yours.

It's really easy to forget you leant the dice in the middle of an intense battle.
Plus lets face it, not everybody is honest about stuff that might be worth $.
As evidenced in that topic about the guy who lost his deck.

In the past even I have been a victim of people stealing cards.
Had an entire Magic deck taken, and some random cards from my trade binder.

I suppose they COULD make the 1 side all white so you could sharpie on it, but not sure it would be worth the hassle

I'd imagine they'd want the product to "prove itself" before spreading it elsewhere. As it is, exo said we'd get this one, then not another until 2014 - I assume so they can analyze the performance.

Well, I was talking more specifically on behalf a country which only gets season tins as promotional material.

Energy cards: if you are a long time player (or an "Elite" trainer) you should have more than enough energy.

I think the phrase "you will become an elite trainer by buying this box" fits more than "this is for elite trainers only".

What I do agree with is that each ETB should have a different energy design to the theme deck energy design, and to each other ETB energy design.

You guys need to make Pokemon equivalent Event Decks! With 1 good Full Art. Not a promo version. Around $25-$35

I am unsure of how powerful the epic collection decks were, you know, the one with Meganium ex, Feraligatr ex, or Typhlosion ex in the front, but I think those are more similar to the event deck. I don't think event deck can even work with the Pokemon TCG, but releasing the epic collection decks in a defined release schedule isn't that bad.

The sleeves alone are worth $10 + easily
Dice/markers have trade value here of about $10
that leaves $15 of value in 8 packs.

The price is already amazing and worth it.

And you're still forgetting the box (a 1000-count blank box sells for abour $2-3 retail) and the Energy (T&T is selling 120 random Basics with 4 random Specials for $7.39). Totally worth it.

Thanks for the feedback all. I'm going to look into what we can do to make the flip die more readable. Quasi-ironically it appears to be because the clear parts are too clear.
