Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars
It's not that I was born into this world knowing a lot about anime...not at all. I started BLEACH and Naruto at around the same time one year, and those thoughts I expressed now were the exact same ones I had when I started them.

Any parallels you draw between Naruto and BLEACH can be drawn from just about any shonen title. One Piece, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Gintama, etc., carry similar elements (tropes) that are easily noticible. So while you can bring those up, just know that you can easily bring up ones from other anime/manga that fit the bill.

May be, but I seemed to notice instant similarites between Naruto and Bleach. Not so much for other animes.

I didn't know how many other people on here had a MAL, Denjin. Mine's Hydrazine.

It's kinda cool to see how many online communities can interact and co-exist together while still retaining separation.

Yes, Shonen titles are very similar to one another. That's why they are shonen. The whole point is that young boys (sometimes girls) enjoy shows where there is a young male protagonist who battles people, expands his world, gains strength, and overcomes obstacles and triumphs over enemies.

Oh, by the way. Does Naruto have color spreads? I've tried looking, but could never find any examples of them other than color intro pages to the chapter (which may serve that purpose, whereas Tite Kubo just throws random drawings in there).
I feel that it is not a valid comparison to throw up the Volume 1 artwork of Naruto and say that is "equivalent" to the color spreads that Tite Kubo draws. A correct example would be to show either: Volume 1 of Naruto vs Volume 1 of Bleach, OR Recent Color Spread of Naruto vs Recent Color Spread of Bleach.
Anything less than that proves nothing.

I think I do have those color spreads you were talking about.

Here we go, color spreads: spoilers for those behind on the manga - 410, 420, 434, 453, 467, 476

Also, you dropped Dennou Coil? That's quite dissapointing. 47.1% compatibility? Ouch.

That would explain it. I didn't go back far enough. Thats a much better comparison.

Yeah, Ouch. Haha.

I really didn't see the allure of Dennou Coil, and I was busy with school when I watched the first episode. I might watch a few more episodes, but probably not till I finish some of the series I'm watching now.

For me, Dennou Coil was pretty much a kids' take on Ghost in the Shell with the augmented reality and its take on cyberspace.

In any case, my statement still stands; while Kubo's character designs are a great deal more stylized, Kishimoto opts for a simpler take. At the same time, you can contrast their background work. Kishimoto puts more effort into his backgrounds while Kubo is in need of some imagination. (See Hueco Mundo).

I have absolutely no idea where you got the notion that I lack little/no knowledge on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Which one? The first series or Brotherhood?

Kind of self explanatory when you realize that Brotherhood is actually the original...

I'd like for you to reconsider that sentiment as I'm more than confident that you've made some errors here and there when trying to find similarities to the two shows. If anything the two have these in common:

- large casts (BLEACH's is larger, by and far)
- training arcs
- lengthy battles
- filler
- ridiculously strong antagonists
- love interests (Naruto has one, BLEACH has three)

If Bleach can be compared to any other crappy canned spam anime, its DBZ. They're essentially the exact same.

I would not consider DBZ any sort of crappy spam anime. Beats just about every overly dramatic romance anime ever created. (chobits, vampire knight) and those stupid harem ones like Rosario +vampire and To-Love ru

I know people like DBZ, but no matter how many times I've seen it, 3+ episodes of talking about what they're gonna do to each other really stinks. I've really given this one a shot because of how die hard the fans of it are, but I just don't see it in the slightest. The only redeeming quality I could find was the creepy grandpa.

When you start comparing it to anime such as GITS, Cowboy Beebop, Samurai Champloo, FMA, and hell, even Speed Racer it just falls flat. The only argument I've heard from DBZ fans as to what makes it better than these is the length of the series. Kinda easy when 3/4 or better of it is nothing more than filler and fluff. The "overly dramatic romance anime" is geared toward a much different demographic and I'll refrain from judging those.

well in all fairness, Samurai champloo is in its own league. but i brought up those romantic animes because in a very strong sense they are more drawn out than DBZ. Also FMA creeps alot of people out, and the storyline is on par with trinity blood with its church like themes (7 sins, and you know TRINITY blood. ) I guess i just like animes that involve characters who are not run of the mill emos with overly massive eyes *cough* yuki *cough.* I guess what made me love DBZ so much was the host of characters, and yes i am a canon junkie and believe GT never happened. There is an urge to punch myself when such a myriad of Harem animes pelt me with their extremly predictable plots , and predictable endings. my 2 cents lol

I get what you're saying, I just couldn't ever get into it because all the excessive filler turned me off so bad I didn't care what the story line was. Dragonball, however, is a different story. I really enjoyed it, so I suppose DBZ could be good if there was just a way to edit out all the staring contests and 15 episodes straight (slight exaggeration, lol) of guttural noises while they Saiyened up.

No. The original series is the first series. The manga adaptation, is the second series; Brotherhood. I'm fine with repeating this ad infinitum if you plan on doing the same.

No. The original series is the first series.

Which was a Manga Series, but a series none the less. I have no reason to argue with you. You're wrong and your obvious ego won't allow you to admit that fact. Debating with someone who can't see the forest for the trees is non productive. You asked why I thought you may not have as much knowledge as you are self proclaimed to have and I answered your question as to why I had that thought. Nothing you can say can disprove why I thought as I did.

Again, the originial FMA anime was the one produced in 2003. Brotherhood, the second anime series was produced 2009. I'm right in that I'm talking within the context of the two anime series alone.

Also, I don't recall speaking to you in the first place regarding FMA. I was asking KittN 95 a question, to which she hasn't answered. You were in no place to just jump in as you did. I'm aware of what you're talking about, but I don't care. I'm was asking about the two anime series and nothing else. I didn't mention the manga one bit.

These are public forums... I have every right to respond to what I care to respond to thank you. Are you saying my comments aren't welcomed..? It's sure what it sounds like.

No. But I directed that question to that one person, and that person only. It wasn't open to anyone to answer, just them.

And did I answer that question? No. I simply stated that the 1st cartoon series wasn't the first series and compared and contrasted the two while saying why my daughter and I enjoy them both and how we both get something different out of them. Then you start in with this Anime-nazi regime of attacking me for having an opinion and making it clear that no opinion is welcome other than yours.

No. But I felt it was rude of you to jump in and assume that I knew nothing of the decision made by BONES and Arakawa to have the first anime series develop into its own story seperate from the source. I even linked my anime list to show that I completed Brotherhood.

So, again, my comments aren't welcomed... And good for you for finishing Brotherhood
