Genesect Ex

Just to get this outta the way...

For Megalo Cannon's EXs, I'm calling for:

Genesect (obviously)
Suicune - Let's face it. He's long overdue.
Jirachi - Who doesn't want Jirachi?
Azelf - I've heard people talk about Azelf the most outta the 3.
Dialga - A real one this time.
Regirock ?
While a little off topic, I'm expecting:

Genesect EX
Suicune EX (to finish this trio)
Virizion EX (to finish this trio)
Regirock EX (to finish the trio + Regigigas)
Regice EX (to finish the trio + Regigigas)
Dialga EX (to finish the trio)
Palkia EX (to finish the trio)
Jirachi EX (just makes sense to me)

Of course, that's 8. If they stick to 6, I expect them to leave out either Dialga/Palkia or Regirock/Regice.

I think Land Shaymin will be an EX that will possibly support Genesect. The set after will probably feature dialga and palkia.
Then probably an Arceus set with Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf. and Then comes X and Y for the beginning of next summer.

Anyhoo, back on topic...

As mentioned before, if we don't in fact receive some kind of Grass acceleration, Ether, Energy Switch, or Scramble Switch is possibly Genesect's best bet.

Ooh here's an interesting thought:

If this guy were somehow squeezed into that Thundurus/Deoxys deck, it would be hailed as one of the most brokenest decks in PTCG history. (And yes I said "brokenest"; it's the new superlative.) The deck already has Prism, Plasma, and Scramble Switch. Pretty scary if you think about it.

Thunder kami, sentient alien virus, creepy ice dragon, giant sea beast, cyborg insect with a cannon... not to mention the terrifying glutton that wil devour your Pokemon. Sends chills down my spine.

Japanese sets don't work like this. Much like we follow a Feb/May/Aug/Nov release schedule in America, Japan pretty much sticks to a Mar/Jul/Sep or Oct/Dec release schedule. We're almost guaranteed that XY1 will be out in Japan before 2014 begins. Maverick Nate's guess of BW10 being the last set seems the most likely possibility right now, since September/October is the closest to the release of XY.

Every Legendary Pokemon has received at least one EX except for Suicune, Regice, Regirock, Jirachi, Azelf, Uxie, Mesprit, Dialga, Palkia, (Phione), Manaphy, Arceus and Virizion. There's 12/13 Legendaries left to be made and only 11 slots left to give them if BW10 is indeed the last set (and a double set). I wonder who they'll leave out... besides Phione...

I feel silly. With that in mind, I think Genesect, Virizion, Suicune, and Jirachi are what we'll see.

That's two grass types though. Also don't forget that there's generally additional decks/EX tie ins. (ie. Rehshiram/Zekrom Battle decks, and the Zapdos/Moltres stuff)

We have 3 EXes left in BW9, and probably 6 EX in BW 10. But they might include 2 EX each in the theme decks (like the moltres, White Kyurem, Zapdos, Black Kyurem decks), and there we have 13 EXes. I still have a feeling that they might not make all legendarys EXes thought, as they might to Thundurus and Landorus incarnation formes as EXes, and maybe Keldeos ordinary formes+ Meloettas Piruette form. After all this is BW and it would make sense to make all the Unova legendarys including different formes as EXes.

We should not forget possible future mini-sets, either. In Japan at least, that is where Meloetta EX in its Aria forme debuted, right? Another mini-set plus some deck exclusive Pokémon-EX (another thing Japan has already done) could make fitting in the last few Legendary Pokémon (at least in Pokémon-EX form) easier.

Heh, you know what would be funny? Giving the next Phione an Ability that turns it into a pseudo-Pokémon-EX. Perhaps something where if you allow your opponent to take an extra Prize as it is KOed, you get a quick, potent effect at that moment, or something just a little more complicated like the option not to KO it when it has damage counters greater than or equal to its printed HP until they equal twice its printed HP instead, and during this time its attack would have a better effect/damage.

@Otaku - You have a point about the mini-sets. It would be cool if Arceus got its own mini-set. With Arceus-EX as the main selling point. And it ends up being either incredibly broken or incredibly gimmicky.

I forgot that the double sets have three EXs per subset rather than four, which makes things interesting if they don't make further deck-exclusive EXs. Hopefully they at least finish all of the trios and pairs that they've started, i.e. Suicune, Virizion, Regirock and Regice at the bare minimum.

Since they don't distinguish between Keldeo, Landorus and Thundurus's formes in the same way that they did for Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX, I kind of doubt that they'll go back and do EX cards for the original Thundurus, Landorus and Keldeo since the newer, more BW2-relevant ones were already used. Therian Tornadus and Pirouetta are definitely possible though.

I'm also kind of surprised that Genesect-EX completely ignores Genesect's "forms" (using the word loosely because only the Drive/attacking type of Techno Blast changes). And if they did Arceus-EX, would they only do a Colorless one or one for each type like they did in the Arceus set? Eep.

We still haven't seen an Ace Spec. It could be a tool that has something to do with its formes

take note at genesects ability and then begin to think a little outside the box.

genesect paired with porygon z.

attach from your hand to genesect, then move the plasma where u choose to. seems like a legit idea to me.
an 8-9 catcher deck depending on what you end up doing with the trainers

I've gone into this before but i think if Arceus is going to be an EX, it should have an Ability that lets it change type. Something like:

You may choose one Pokemon in play. This Pokemon becomes the type of that Pokemon until the end of your turn.

Should decks even need more than six "Pokémon Catcher"? This isn't Pokémon Reversal; if you're not getting the OHKOs you desire off of a Pokémon Catcher, you probably have a different issue with your deck.

OK, all of us are thinking that BW10 must be the last set before Pokemon X and Y right? Well what happens if it's not and there do something like release an entire set full of reprints like Call of Legends? BW10 might very well NOT be the last BW set.

This is probably going to be the last B & W Set.

They'll be one more set after this before moving onto X+Y series.

Can't see Arceus or Manaphy getting a slot and water types are already overpowered as it is without something major keeping it in check. Dialga would be interesting and the pixies won't have much hp, but could have interesting abilites, setup attacks or the abilty to do a lot of damage with minimal energy.

This was the Jirachi EX I made several months ago

Jirachi EX 90hp
Ability: Invisible Wall -
If an attack does 70 or more damage to this pokemon then prevent it

:psychic::colorless: Shield Beam 40
Your opponent can't use abilties during their next turn

Weakness :psychic:
Retreat = 1

The reprint sets under TPCi's run -- Power Keepers and Call of Legends -- were only a product of the English TCG stalling. They ran through all/most of the ex and HGSS-related material but still had to release something in February because DP and BW weren't out for another couple of months. Now that XY is getting a simultaneous worldwide release in October, the need to stall for five or six months in the card game is unnecessary. In fact, we're now looking at the opposite situation, where we're going to have to cram a lot into our English sets or push our XY1 set back to Feb 2014 to get all of the cards that Japan has right now.

Plasma Freeze is going to be our May set, based on Spiral Force/Thunder Knuckle, which is the December Japanese set. Megalo Cannon, their March set, will be our August set. If they do a BW10 in July, that would be our November set, and XY will already be out for a month by then!

Do we know for certain that XY TCG is getting a simultaneous worldwide release? I thought that was just VG...
