Glisctomb Counter

This thread just officially ended with the discovery of chatter lock.

And thats when I bust out my teched Arcanine SW (lol).

I'm totally joking of course but to be serious, Chatterlock is preventable with Unknown G which I was already debating putting one of in my build to prevent something I can't remember...
I give the idea credit though for being plausible.

On another note though. I still ike Glislock alot, and still plan to play it. I just look forward to teching some stuff in to counter where my faults come from.
My roomate built Blastcatty with Xatu to beat me. It worked wonderfully with it's reversible paralysis and double launcher on its own, but then the 4 dawn stadium threw me for a loop. I beat him the second time but have yet to play a third.

I really think the deck is underestimated in my own opinion. I know to effectively Chatter lock me, you'd have to play down your bird early, either second or 3rd turn, and I don't play my q until I'm ready to lock anyways, so either you A) Play your chatot early and I Guard, B) Play your Chatot late and wind up unable to play it anyways because I've already locked your ______ , or C) Play your chatot early and watch me kill it with a combo of bats and poison/burn.

Just food for thought.

Unown G is a pretty flimsy answer to Chatot. If u play something like Gengar, Flygon, or BlazeRay, Gliscor needs G on Claydol, and most lists can only play 1 or 2. So just wait until they G the Claydol or something else and fill the bench b4 u drop Chatot. If u play Bronzong G the Chatter lock is just 1 Rosy away.

As always it should be looked at as a temporary answer, there is never really a permanent way to break the lock. Just put a few "keys" in to "unlock" GlisTomb every once in a while and u should be fine. It is a very good deck against ppl who aren't prepared, so just be prepared.

Um no if chatterlock didnt exist there would be no need for an Unown G in this deck at all.

But Chatterlock was discovered...today it sounds like. How did ppl already have time to put in Unown G before then if it's so unneeded?

It wasn't discovered today. It's just an example of 'outs' already in a lot of decks to curtail this kind of deck.

How is Unknown G flimsy? It stops chatot from binding tomb in place, therefore it serves its intended purpose completely: keeping spiritomb mobile. Sure it sucks to have to discard what few energy you have in your deck to retreat, but you can always SSU tomb after starting the lock if you need to attach unknown Q. Sure Chatot can be put back into the deck after that with palmers, but theoretically YOUR lock shouldn't break if you set it up properly.

And you don't run 2 Unown G because? If I was blind enough to play Glisctomb, then I would run 2 Unown G, however besides Chatot there are TONS of counters, so...this deck is now labelled GlisSheddy 2.0.

IDK, it sounds like there has to be a lot more going on to form the Chatterlock than just using Chatter on Tomb, which is a very bad move. Most of the time u use it late game when you KNOW they don't have the G and they don't know u play Chatot. IMO the only way u can accomplish a good Chatter lock is w/ BronzongG so that u can actually use it the turn it comes in.

But as usual, talking about counters to the deck just makes those who play the deck more prepared, b/c u give them a chance to "theorymon" that situation outside of the game where there are no consequences, and prepare their deck for it before the tourney. The Chatterlock tournament report even showed that previous exposure to the lock was enough to counter it the next time.

GlisTomb is a nasty deck because it catches ppl off-guard, but it also loses when it's caught off-guard. Hence, good players will do good with it, and bad players will fail horribly with it. But honestly our horrible AZ team was thinking about attacks that switch out to Spiritomb since the scan for it came out (at least I was since I love Donphan so much ), and Night Slash was always near the top of the list, so this is no surprise. We still had a GlisTomb get top 2 today but he got completely wrecked by me in Swiss and again in top 2 by Gyarados with 3 Warp Energy, which is really good in that deck anyway. He said he will have nightmares about MamoswineGL and Warp Energy now lol

tehmoe, prodigal fanboy, dont you see why Snorlax is superior? Since Chatot requires 2 energys, your opponent see it coming before you are able to lock and then they are able to counter it.

In Snorlax's case however, you can drop it down and lock tomb in an instant.

Chatot is useful in other matchups though where Snorlax is pretty much pointless space.

I was gonna say u could level it up so u can draw cards while u lock the Tomb, but the power to draw puts Snorlax asleep :(

How about Zangoose PL? It's immune to status conditions and it pulls up Claydol from the bench for a colorless.

IDK how many lists play Moonlight but Ariados MT would be pretty funny to lock in their Tomb. Deck idea...

One of my roomates teched his blastcatty against my glis deck and wipes the floor with me if he can set up before me. He runs 4 dawn stadium, 2 Zangoose and a xatu tech. It's very annoying...

I don't like chatot...but the lock is broken by unknown G. Snorlax...meh. Xatu would be easier to play around if my oponent didnt snipe two things at once. Zangoose is nice, but I'd rather sac 1 turn of lock to 1 hit it with night slash.

So you guys are all going to run 2+ Cards that do nothing in every other match up just to counter a deck that is already way overrated? Which FYI don't even guarentee you the win.

The point is that there is now a really long list of cards that you can add to your deck if those cards work well with the strategy. To prepare for the deck you have to build a deck with answers to the lock in it but also has good matchups in the metagame. You can't just play your favorite deck all the time and just add techs to it, that just makes your deck inconsistent. GlisTomb eats inconsistent decks for lunch.

guys i think glistomb players now know that they have to g their active spiritomb so it really doesn't counter anymore

it kind of does. the lock only works for so long with a Gd active spiritomb. they dont have that many energy to keep reattaching, and they use BTS, not moonlight (which can be countered). the threat of a chatot on the bench with an energy forces them to burn energy to maintain the lock, just dont bench anything lockable- and see how long they can keep an active tomb with G up there.
