Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Groundbreakers set list? Confirmed!

I just had a thought. It has been said several times that new special conditions will be added in later expansion sets. Looking at the list i reckon it will be asleep (jigglypuff would be nothing without sleep) and confused (zubat).
You are correct.

ASLEEP - An asleep pokemon can't choose to move or attack. While asleep, the pokemon doesn't block other Pokemon from passing through it, and it cannot help to surround an opponent's pokemon. Your asleep pokemon remains asleep until it is attacked by an opponent's pokemon or is touched by one of your adjacent pokemon instead of an attack.

CONFUSED - If your confused pokemon gets into battle, spin your pokemon figure normally. Before applying your result, turn the figure counter-clockwise to the next attack - that's your final spin result!

Also new...

Certain pokemon may have special movement abilities. These pokemon have the name of the movement on the top of the dial, next to the move points. The description for that ability is on the bottom of the dial. It shows a 4 MPs dial with the STRAIGHT special movement ability. That one seems pretty self-explanatory.

Mewchou, I assume you got that from the rulebook that came in Skydive, right?
Did it say anything else new? Did it mention burn or noxious, or were asleep and confused the only new conditions it mentioned?

Confusion seems kind of pointless.... It's still random.

You have to think of an actual example to see why it's deadly.

Let's look at Machop.
It has a Large chance of doing 40 damage, a good-sized Dodge change, and two very small Miss chances.
If it's confused, and you spin that large chance of Focus Punch or Dodge, you turn it counter clockwise. What's your result? Miss.
A confused Machop now has a LARGE miss chance and a VERY small chance of doing anything else.

See why it's deadly?

Yes, it's from the new rulebook. There is nothing about burn, noxious, or anything else new. It does show some of the new Pokemon in it. Here is Mewtwo:

Psychic type
2 MPs
(40%) Psychic (White) - 60
(20%) Vanish (Blue) - Mewtwo returns to the bench and has Wait.
(30%) Psychic Shove (Purple) - ** Move the defending pokemon and any pokemon behind it straight backas many spaces as you can. They have Wait.
(10%) Miss (Orange)
The percentages are just eye-approximations.

As far as confusion, some Pokemon would be better confused. Like Raticate.

Why do I get the feeling that one is Linoone?

Trainers that came with the starter set:

Swap Spots (4/8) - Switch 2 of your Pokemon in the field that are next to each other.
X Attack (7/8) - Choose 1 of your Pokemon. During this turn, that Pokemon's attacks do 30 more damage.
X Special (8/8) - Choose 1 of your Pokemon. During this turn, that Pokemon adds ** more to its Purple attacks.

...and one from the instruction booklet:

Special Veil - Choose 1 of your Pokemon. During this turn, that Pokemon can't be affected by any new special conditions.

Armaldo
Fighting type, 1 MPs
Pokemon Power - Battle Armor - Once each turn, you may have your opponent re-spin damage.
21% Orange - Miss
17% Blue - Protect - Armaldo has Wait.
19% White - Pierce Through - 130
43% White - Iron Tail - 40

Flaaffy has a white attack called Fluffy Punch - 60, If Flaaffy is Knocked Out by damage, the Defending Pokemon is Parlyzed.

It show Latias from the front showing Psychic type, 3 MPs, 2 small Misses, Mist Ball for 70, and another large white attack not visible. It has the same Pokemon Power as Latios: If Latias is Knocked Out, remove Latias from the game.

The Asleep marker is Orange and has a bed on it.
The Confused marker is Purple and has a swirly icon on it.

That's pretty much everything else new out of the instruction booklet.

Someone should try to get the other starter set from Groundbreakers.....

EDIT: I just got the Skydive starter set, but Mewchou pretty much already covered everything. However the "start Here/How to Play" thingy gives us some new information:

Trainer Cards
1. No Wait
2. Power Battle
3. Special Veil
4. Swap Spots
5. Switch
6. X Accuracy
7. X Attack
8. X Special

Special Veil
50 Points (half circle)
Image: Picture of a Wobbuffet.
Illus: Rick Achberger
Choose one of your Poekmon. During this turn, that Pokemon can't be affected by any new Special Conditions.

Elekid
#6/42
Poke-Power: Connected: Elekid'a attacks do 10 more damage for each :lightning Pokemon linked to Elekid.
Type: Electric (duh)
MP: 3

75% Power Zap (20) If Elekid is Knocked Out by damage, the Defending Pokemon is Paralyzed.
25% Miss

Mewtwo
#22/42
Type: Psychic
MP: 2
17% Vanish - Mewtwo returns to the Bench and has Wait.
33% Psychic Shove - Move the Defending Pokémon and any Pokémon behind it straight back as many spaces as you can. They have Wait.
42% Psychic- 60
8% Miss

Armaldo
#1/42
Type: Fighting
MP: 1
Poke-Power: Battle Armor: Once each turn, you may have your opponent re-spin damage.

17% Protect - Armaldo has Wait.
19% Pierce Through - 130
43% Iron Tail - 40
21% Miss

You can also see a little bit of Slaking.
Type: colorless
MP: 2
PokePower: (Name can't be read)- If Slaking moves this turn, Slaking can't attack.
It has a wide White Attack, Pound 90.
A purple attack, Rest * - Slaking is Asleep
A chance of Miss, and another purple that can't be seen, but it doesn't appear to be the same as Rest.

Latias has the effect as Latios, (if KOed, remove from the game) Psychi type, 3 MPs, 2 small Misses a Mist Ball for 70, and another huge white attack.

The 6-on-6 mat is light blue instead of green, and the 3-on-3 mat is red.

Also, the Mightyena figure looks like its going to break at the slightest breeze....

One :colorless pokemon (likley Linoone) Has 4 MP, but can only move in a strait line.

One of Flaaffy's attacks is Fluffy Punch- 60 - If Flaafy is Knocked Out by damage, the defending pokemon is Paralyzed.

Another pokemon has a two-star purple move: Hypnosis: The Defending Pokemon is Asleep. Could be Noctowl or Kadabra maybe.

Geodude has a Roll Out attack, you keep spinning until you get something else.

That's it for the New stuff. I'll be back if I find the other starter set or anything else new.
