Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Groundbreakers

While browsing ebay for various figures I don't have, I came across this and several other auctions:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pokemon-TFG-TMG...oryZ2537QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

According to this, the next set for the TFG is called "Groundbreakers" and will be released on December 14th.
It appears that these figures will also come in 1, 2, and 3 packs - but does this mean we're getting more promos (I would certainly hope it's not just the same 3 promos in the 3packs, they'd never sell any of those), or perhaps it means there will be packs with a 1:2 visible:secret ratio? I dunno. Just speculation.

No further information seems to be available at this time, other than the fact that liesik said the figures are going to "blow our minds."
XD

Groundbreakers...hmmm? Machamp! or Miltank? Hopefully it'll include cool pokemon. Only pokemon that caught my attention last set were Tauros and Beedrill(pokemon-wise)

I never understood the name "Second Quest" or whatever for the first set. I doubt I will understand the name for the second name very well.

I have it on Excellent Authority(TM) that these names have been considered for the first expansion of the Pokemon "Next Quest" trading figure game:

Ham on Rye Quest
Manamana Quest
Wankel Rotary Engine Quest
Amazing Disappearing Cash Quest
Star Spawn Quest (first appearence of Pikachuthulhu, the Pokemon That Should Not Be)
Lunch Quest
Inquest Quest (features new Dark pokemon)
Johnny Quest

In addition to "Groundbreaker", a few other (natural feature)+(discriptive verb) combinations have been considered, including:

Treehugger
Pondgulper
Rockschlepper

And so forth. Alas, none of the above have been accepted.

I think it was "Next Quest" since it is being heavily promoted with the TCG and is the "Next Quest" to embark on after the TCG. It is rather confusing for a first set's name, though.

I hope there aren't any delays for this set like there was with the first.

Well because retailers buy the stuff from PUI(or is it nintendo?)so they order it in time for them to get it on release date. Retailers almost always know before players.

Why is it that retailers know about this, when PUI hasn't said anything anything about it?

It's not uncommon for retailers to know release dates before the official press releases go out. It happens with almost every TCG Set; how do you think PokeGym knows the set names before the official press releases are posted?

You have to understand that I'm from the Old School, where our information was given to us on a weekly basis strait from the horse's mouth. I'm used to retailers not starting to stock a set until the set after it had been announced.

Ah.
Well, things work a little differently nowadays.
For one thing, we always know almost exactly what will be in the next set when a set comes out (For example, we knew what was going to be in DP2 before DP1 came out) due to the japanese scans and translations posted here and on other sites.

i hope when he says the figures are going to "blow our minds", they aren't more detailed and even harder to spin(lugia/ho-oh etc) and easier to brake.

I'm reading the description, and I found this interesting:

Contains: 3 random figures (any 3 of the 40 figures from Groundbreakers) Look for special effect/Rares

If this guy knows what he's talking about (I'm assuming he got the information from Nintendo), then this means that, perhaps, they fixed the huge problem of having only a few visible figures (or visible figures at all, for that matter).

Also... special effect/rares? Maybe he's talking about Trainer Cards.

Hm. Seems interesting. Though I'm not inclined to believe it until Nintendo actually says something about it themselves.

If this is indeed a new set, let's hope the figures don't break too easily, as was the case with several figures in Next Quest that I've seen in stores. And that there is more variation in the secret figure packs. I'm sort of reluctant of hunting for figures that can only be obtained as a secret at the moment, as I don't really want tons of Eevee, Salamence, Zangoose, and the like.

That's the same thing he said for his Next Quest boosters, which I bought a case of. It's not true.
He thinks the visible figures are completely random, which they're not.
It's most likely just regular packs like we have now.
Also, he assumes that these packs have pearl/crystal figures, because the UK ones do, but the US ones don't.
He just doesn't know what he's talking about, that's all.

What a horrible name :nonono:

The "next quest" was a good "base" set name but Groundbreakers is as unoriginal as PUI's TCG names, "Secret", "Legend", "mysterious", "hidden"..... what else? "Mythical"? they're running out of ideas.

Glad to see a new set though.

Groundbreaking News

:pokeball: Heres something interesting for you all to hear... I was recently at my local mall in Grandville Michigan and saw 2 groundbreaker starter sets for early sale on the store floor. I can't quite remember the figures... almost purchased them but i didn't have the cash on me at the time. But a few of the pokemon were Geodude, Skunktank, Latios, Latias and that's all i can remember.... i'm planning on going back soon to see if i can get my hands started on the groundbreakers sets early... but for now that's all i can remember... just thought someone would be interested. Oh and Sabrina and Brock were trainers i glimpsed on the back of the box... Wish i would have thought to look into them more but i was overjoyed just to see more.. i've nearly got all 42 of the next quest set myself and it was quite something to see the next gen. :pokeball:
