Took the kids for an early lunch today, since they're out of school this week; 3 kids' meals + 3 Icees (with the special cups) = 1 set + 2 other cards (the young man at the snack bar was nice enough to let us look through the cards to make sure we got the ones we wanted :))

Bought a couple of the picture frames and one of the multipacks with the 'red envelope' W-stamped Dark Arbok, too since we were there anyway to get the 'bonus disc' from our Colosseum preorder; the store didn't have the disc (and didn't even know what we were talking about =/) when we ordered on Sunday.

It would have been nice though had they had the free GCN -->GBA cables available that we're supposed to get when the game comes in; until we have that, we can't load the Jirachi to our R/S games, since it says we can't do this via the GameBoy Player :(

It seems that the way I received my PROMO'S, top all yours by far...Just this past weekend I attended the Chandler, AZ "City Championship" and after the tourney, stopped off in the Target there in the shopping center and picked up the rest of the PROMO'S that they had in a box with other miscellaneous boosters and got them for free...I spoke with one of the managers and asked them if they were for sale?? When she told me that they were give aways, she told me that I can go ahead and take them ALL!!! :)

Now that's sweeter than YOOHOO!!! Catch ya later, over and out...oh yes, B4 I forget...the 4 promo's are from the 13 (25) promo card set release earlier in the year @ local 7-11's in JAPAN!!!

Buh bye...

I recall hearing getting a free cable if you preordered Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, but I don't remember anything of the sort advertised for Pokemon Colosseum. But then again, maybe it's some Target-thing that I don't know about because I haven't seen a Target ad in forever (my dorm only gets weekday papers).

At any rate, I'm planning on walking over on Friday. Never walked that far before, though I've certainly walked farther than most students are willing (Walmart is a 30-45 minute walk away from here, and there's a card shop accross the street from there that sells Pokemon packs for $3 each, as opposed to $3.29 at Target and Walmart.).

Sorry to hear they didnt have the bonus disc for you Mom. I know the K-Mart in my area has them sitting on the counter when you pre-order the game. Might want to check one in your area.

There's a coupon on the part of the preorder form you keep when you pay your $5 deposit at Target that is good for the GCN->GBA cable. Question: are we going to need multiples of this cable...one for each player...for both boys to use their R/S game Pokemon to battle each other in Colosseum? In other words, would it be worth it to go ahead and buy one now to be able to d/l Jirachi, since we're going to need two of the damned things anyway?

(Edit: We did get the disc, when we went today, GLB; they just didn't know what it was on Sunday afternoon when we ordered (apparently we were the first people to do a preorder there =/)

TIA,

If I interpret Nintendo Power's article correctly, Colosseum doesn't let you search through all your GBA Pokemon the way the Stadium games did. It just "registers" your team.

But even if I'm incorrect, even Stadium had an option for multiple game boy game use even if you had only one Transer Pak, so there's probably something of that sort in Colosseum.

Mom: If you do decide you need multiple cables, Pre-Order additional copies of Colosseum for $5, use the coupon for the free link cable then, don't pick up the multiple pre-orders. ;) You'll save $5 a cable. ;)

Pokemon promo for kids only!

Tuesday, I went to the Target in Laurel, MD. No Pokemon signs or cups and when I asked the lady behind the counter about the Pokemon promotions, she said she had no idea what Pokemon was and was really confused by the whole thing (Some people gotta get out and live a little!).

Next, I traipsed up to the Target in Columbia where the snack area proudly displayed two Pokemon posters and there was a magnificent stack of Pokemon cups standing tall behind the counter. I got in line. I ordered a medium Icee and the lady handed me a plain, white, generic cup and said "next"

As she started to take the next order, I said "excuse me please, don't I get a Pokemon card with this?"
While I thought it would be okay to forego the cup, I certainly wanted the card.

"Those are for kids" she replied.

"But what about your promotion, don't I get a Pokemon card" pointing to the sign.

"I said, those are for kids" she retorted in a louder and more assertive tone. I sighed, glanced to the right and saw the line at the snack bar growing, with the first few people standing impatiently, arms folded and glaring at me like why is this man asking for Pokemon cards. He's way past being a kid.
I dug in my heels and changed my strategy rather then escalate the matter.

"But I have two kids and my son is really going to be disappointed if I don't bring him home a card"
At this, she took away my plain white cup, huffed and handed me the Pokemon cup and a card. Whew!
I got my Icee and wondered if she was related to Jesse (Team Rocket). No, they would've taken all the cups and cards I thought. I guess that's what happen at the Target at Laurel.

The good news is that I went back on Wednesday. There was a different person behind the counter. I got three cups and cards with no problem. :)

Question: What this about a red envelope and a "W"?

Aha! So you were the person who was there (at Laurel) before me! The Snack Bar cashier said, when I popped in near closing time, that someone else had asked about the promos...

Glad you found the Columbia store! I swung by there yesterday and was similarly successful. So far I'm 2 for 2 (Laurel, MD and Alexandria, VA had no promotional materials whatsoever, while Columbia, MD and Greenbelt, MD did).

You know, I went to one of the "local" Targets this morning to pick up some extras (and frames) to work out trades. I ordered ten Icees and explained that I really only wanted the cards and I got the same "They're only for kids" line.

If this ain't BS... I told the lady I'd been coming there and getting them all week and pointed out that none of the promotional material had an age limit on it. Luckly, the only person waiting in line behind me was my g/f so I didn't have to worry about ticking anyone off. ;)

Anywhoo, the lady behind the counter ended up letting me have 'em,...

::goes to send PMs to finish trades::

I went to Target durning my lunch to pick some up and asked the lady if I could get more then one card if I paid for the Icee that went with it. She told me they are only for the Kids Meal. I showed her the post right in front of her that also says med Icee. She then had to get her manager to make sure it was okay for me to buy more the one at a time. I said I really dont see the problem with it on the count that I am paying for the Icee, but just want the card. The manager was not sure, so she called over the manager of the Target. Which gave the okay. I than asked if I could go through them to make sure i got complete sets. :p The lady at the counter told me there were sealed and so they dont know which is which. I took one and showed the lady how to slide the card in the package. You just have to teach Target people every little trick. After that I got my one Icee and cards and asked if it was okay that I gave the other Icees out, which they didnt have a problem with that since I paid for them. So I gave them out to kids and parents that were there. Even talked to one lady who told me her 7 year old loves the Cartoon and had always wanted to play the card game. So I used this as a oppertunity and told the lady about the Prerelease in 2 weeks and he could come and learn how to play. Never hurts to get new players to come :thumb:

When I got my promo's tonight the paper that was inserted in the wrapper with the card says that if you purchase any 3 ex products you get the picture frame free.

I was just wondering whether this was an all out American-only thing. I mean, over here, we have Targets, I just don't think any of them have any food products in them....

So far from what I have seen and heard they are US cards right now.

Not sure about the rest of the Targets, but the one close to me had Pokemon Cards 3 packs for $9. So for $9 you can get the 3 packs and a frame if you have visited the food stand!!

I went to a Target Monday when I read about the cards on this forum (love this place!)
Anyway, they had the cards and cups so I ordered 4 and said I really only wanted one cup. The lady looked at me funny but let me pay. Then I went to look for the frame but couldn't find it. To make a long story short one of the store's managers or maybe assistant mgr took about 30 min or so to help me track down the frames. During that time I peeked at the cards and saw that I had received only one duplicate. I felt silly but went back over to the food area and asked if I could trade the card. Another lady, who heads the food area, was surprised that I was able to see what the card was but she gladly handed over the box for me to look through. The mgr was still with me and they were all really nice. Then the head food lady gave me a coupon for 3 free icees since the other lady told her that I had bought 4 icees but only drank one. Apparently she has a pokemon kid at home too and felt sympathetic.
Anyway, that was my experience at Target. We never found the frame but I later found it at another Target in the area. I was really impressed with the quality of service I received at the first Target though. I guess it just all depends on who is running the place.

PS. Pokemom- we ended up pre-ordering Colosseum at Toys R Us since the Target guy in electronics hadn't even heard of the pre-order.

Has anyone pulled a BLANK card from the Target Promos? Yesterday, I found a BLANK card that only had the yellow border around the edge. Good thing I GOT IT. I can just see some kid throwing it away or returning it as defective, not knowing it would be more valuable than the other promos, especially since I didn't open the wrapper.

So, has anyone else out there pulled this misprint?

SteveP, I pulled a blank one today too! I think that makes it a fairly valuable error card rather than a one-off misprint. Yay us!

I just went to my Target today. First I ran over to the videogame section, but they were all out of Colosseum bonus disks even though they had the preorder forms for $5. :(

Then I ran over to the food gallery and asked if they had any Pokemon cards with their promotion since they had a big sign and those Kids' WB create-a-card order forms. The man at the counter said they had the cards, and then I forked over my money and he told me he couldn't find them. So then I said I would come back in a half hour after my mom was done shopping, and he said he would have them found by then.

When I came back, I had lost my mom in the store but luckily had a few bucks from the headphones she wanted me to return, so I bought a diet coke and the man handed over to me 4 cards. I then told him thank you, and he said the extras were for waiting. So then my mom comes up and starts telling me how she has been looking all over for me and has been waiting in the car and that she already finished the shopping. I then told her I got lost, yada yada, and then I gave her 4 EX Dragon packs to buy, and she tells me to go wait by the car while she goes to buy them. I get out to the car, rip open the promo cards, and I was lucky enough to get all 4 instead of 4 of one. Then I notice that each card came with a coupon that allows you to get one of those 4 card holder frames for free (with the purchase of 3 Pokemon EX items). By this time, my mom was walking out of the store and into the parking lot, so I ran back to her and told her about the coupon, and she gave me the packs and the receipt. I then ran in to the customer service return thingy, and told the nice lady that I didn't use this coupon when my mom bought the boosters.

She then looked at the receipt and the coupon and broke down in laughter. I asked her why she was laughing, and she said "I can't believe kids still like that stupid Pokemon cr**" I then looked at her with a horrified face (because she cussed right in front of me), and then she told me with a very mean tone "Go get the frame and bring it back here withing the next 2 minutes." Not trying to be rude, I ran over, grabbed one of the frames, and came back, and she said "That'll be $4." Then I told her the coupon said you get it for free, and she said she didn't care what the coupon said and that the expiration date was past. Then I told her it is not past since the promotion only started a few days ago and she said "Oh, and how do you know that little boy? Do you have your own Pokeman website?" Then I asked what did she mean I had my own Pokemon website, and she said "Well if you knew it started only a few days ago, you must have reported it." Thinking that I was on Candid Camera, I told her I did have my own Pokemon website, and I'd appreciate it if she would read through the receipt (you idiot) and see that I get it for free. She then called another customer service guy and told him that I was telling her what to do and that I shouldn't be coming up to her with the coupon. Then I lost my temper (luckily I was the only one in line) and told her "Excuse me miss, I come her almost every other day and I know how Target works. Please hand over the frame and my booster packs in the bag so I can go or I will go get Mr. Burns and have him settle all this." After I said "Mr. Burns" since he was the store manager, the guy behind her told her that she was wrong and to give me the frame for free. Then, she made a grunt, threw it into the bag, and pushed it forcefully towards the counter at me. Then I told her "Thank you" with a smile on my face and then went up to Mr. Burns' office and reported her. He said that she was new on the job and that he would talk to her, and then I left.

In other words, go to the food court first, get your cards, get 3 EX packs, get the frame, buy your boosters and explain the coupon to the cashier, and then you can be on your merry way. :)
