we ran out of competitor t-shirts at us nationals this year. how would TPCi be able to calculate the number of shirts to order for an 'open' worlds?

not to mention the VERY nice competitor gift bags given out each year. the contents of those would likely have to go down significantly...IF they were handed out at all...at an 'open' worlds. people are already complaining that there isn't 'enough' given to the participants in the grinder...

Maybe you don't give out t-shirts.

Maybe instead of giving out the competitor items simply for being a competitor, they go in the prize pool. At Open Worlds, you have to earn everything you get.

These are trivial issues.

Gorn, disagree.

One of the best pieces to Worlds was the prize bag. The acknowledgement that you earned your spot, and right to compete in the main Worlds Event for Pokemon.

There is a lot of pride, especially amongst the younger set, with receiving that bag.

Like Bullados said, we have an open Worlds. Day 1 is the Grinder, and everyone not qualified or staffing can play.

You did not earn your invite to play in Day 2 through "conventional" means, so you have an opportunity to do so,

The players earning the right to play in Day 2, they get the Goodie Bags and recognition.

Vince, I appreciate your point of view, but can we cut through the cutesy semantics.

The title is "I Propose Open Worlds with No Limit to the Number of Players."

In my opening post I discussed having 3000 players. I reiterated that number in subsequent posts.

How many players compete in Worlds?

As for the players in the Grinder, I think it's unfair to call them "not qualified." LOL
