Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

IL State Championship-Niles,IL 3/6

I find it very funny when a out of towner comes and wins a states or some other big tournament. And then sometimes people do better at other peoples states than there own.

I see it happen all the time. Remember when you expected to come to our local tournaments and go 5-0 every week to boost your ranking. Well if my memory comes back to me you dont win every week. You havent won in a while actually. Most of us dont really care how well we do and we still end up doing all right. Go Team TIY

But i do do consistanly well and the last few weeks the only losses ive had are to mr.lucas and jessica, and this past week to your sister bc i had a horrible start.

Yes, that was a bad start we should have a rematch in a month. You also lost to Dave H. though.

Hey, look at the bright side, Illinois...

If you can't win your own trophy on the 6th, you are welcome to come visit it, and try to take one of Missouri's on the 12th!!!

I still remember the St. Louis Gym Challenge like it was yesterday...a room full of cocky St. Louis players, and the trips went to players from Tennessee and Kentucky, and only Rachel A. kept one for the St. Louis crowd!!!

Talk to you soon.

Vince (not the Vince in Axe's sig)

I honestly play to have fun. If I didn't have fun, I would stop playing. That's the bottom line. Winning prizes is a bonus. Obviously other people see it differently, but that's just how I feel about it.

It's Pokemon the TCG. If you're not in it to have fun, find something else that is all about winning (Poker?). I've always played to have fun. It's fun going to league and tournaments. It's fun meeting new people who play the game and teaching the game to people. Pokemon OP is about having fun AND friendly competition. I'll see you all in Niles.

But isn't it also true that winning is also fun? Yeah I wouldnt ever play the game though if it wasnt fun. I have alot of fun playing pokemon.

Now Pooka is an excellent example of what im talking about. He seems to not care whether he wins but he tends to win alot. Like at Crystal Lake CC.

Isn't that true for almost all games? Isn't winning inherently more fun than losing? Actually, the worst tourney I've ever been to was one where I went 4-1, because all 4 wins were cheap wins (no basics, etc). AXE, read over ur dad's article to see exactly what this game's about. If you've already read it, read it again. If I ever have the chance to organize a large tournament, I hope there is at least 1 player (hopefully more) just like that little girl. That's what playing's all about.

OK peopel u dotn get i DO have fun playing. And a lot of it. Hey i just went 2-3 at a cc not to long ago and had a blast. Its just more fun when u win. Thats all im trying to say.

This event is going to be FREAKIN AWESOME. I can't wait to meet Colin and Kyle again, and beat the scrubs they have in 11-14 =P. That 1st ed booster pack sounds yummy too. This event looks like it could be the best States this season.

I'm with ya on that one! Of course there is a balance between competition and personal satisfaction that keeps it interesting. But the "fun factor" is important... remember the old days when it was Sneasel/SlowKing everywhere you looked? Fun went right down the drain. Creative decks died, all you could do if you wanted to win was a counter deck. So I guess it's all a balancing act

Sounds like it'll be a big turnout Sunday! Let's hope for good weather too! I saw that 4 letter word snow in the forcast

Poor Dave, getting all that SotG garbage when all he said is "Winning is more fun than losing.". I feel for ya bro. Don't worry, we'll feel better when we start flippin tables at states.

God it took u long enough Chuck. Atleast someones got my back. lol. and dont forget to lift with the legs not the back while flipping those tables.
