Why? It's supposed to make Stage 2 Pokemon more playable and without it they won't be able to keep up with all the overpowered Basics and Stage 1's in this fast format and Rare Candy was overdue for a reprint anyway. I don't wanna hear that nonsense coming from you alright? This card was overdue for a reprint.

I'm still disappointed that they didn't reprint the card to where you can use it on a Basic that you've played on the same turn. If they fixed that ruling to where you could do that then Pokemon Catcher wouldn't hinder Stage 2's that badly. I still don't care If The Truth becomes BDIF because of it or not.

As for my opinion on the Dark Rush Set -

* Entei EX - Seems like it could work alright in TyRam to help Typhlosion and Reshiram.
* Darkrai EX - This guy's ability is amazing especially with Hydregion and Tyranitar Prime.
* Zorua - Too bad Zoroark BW got nerfed due to Eviolite.
entei is terrible. I fail to see how it can be good at all

I agree@hydreigon

tyranitar is not good anymore eviolite and high hp basics laugh at it.

zoroark gets an answer to eviolite so....? this zorua is amazing

Why do people like raikou ex its a bad card. Regigias ex or zekrom or tornadous is better with pachi and shaymin.

This was a bad card, bro? The card that defined a format? Yeah, same thing as Raikou. Sniping for a OHKO on almost anything is an amazing ability.

just about anything electric that is that decent is going to be used with the presence of Magnezone, Eeletrik, and electrode running around.

That Espeon is so playable... I'm getting goosebumps from all the ideas.

However... don't go up against Zekrom or Reshiram (Normal OR EX) Reshiram won't discard cards, Zekrom won't get recoil, Reshiram EX won't flip to see if it gets recoil, and Zekrom-EX won't discard cards either.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Espeon won't stop effects like that since Reshiram EX and Zekrom EX aren't "one of your Pokemon".

It stops stuff like "the defending Pokemon Can't retreat." It doesn't stop costs or attack requirements.

Ha ha yeah . . . not so much 'going out on a limb' as actually being one of the apparently few people to read the PokeBeach translation properly

D'oh!!

I did read it right when I first saw the translation, but I guess I forgot about it and made some stupid things up in my head! >.<

Okay, so yeah, Espeon is sorta safe against the dragons... Especially Kyurem.

Well, only those with energy on them... Can't forget that.

People do play pokemon catcher in zekrom donk. I know you may not get it but still i dont like the fact that you hafe to discard all the energy card's on to raikou ex.

Actually Catcher is what makes snipe so broken. I refer you to LuxChomp for why, but for those who still don't understand. You Catcher up a bulky Pokemon, say an Eel, a Typhlosion, or an unpowered EX, then you snipe a benched Pokemon leaving the useless behemoth in the active position, and forcing the opponent to either waste resources on retreating it, or pass. Plus if you don't have Catcher or Junk Arm in hand (which happens outside of Theorymon quite often) then you can still deal a big blow to the opponent's support.

I think for all purpose, effects like catcher should be limited to just pokemon abilities for stage 2 pokemon or attacks.

-Have Raikou and Entei EX but not Suicune
-Call it "Dark Rush" with only 10 Dark Pokemon
-Tornadus EX out of freakn' nowhere
-Golden Catcher

Yep, I think this can officially be called The Troll Set. Those wacky Japanese.

Also, dat Empoleon.

It looks like the Shining Pokemon are determined through how frequently a BW-on card is run in Japan, excluding EXs (and possibly Dragons, due to not having an official Shiny form). Emboar is used in 2 major deck types and lots of lesser decks. Zoark, Chandallure and Hydreigon can all be splashed, so it's easy to believe that they'd pop up a lot in sample data. Gardivore is run in virtually every Mewtwo EX deck, which is apparently about 75% of the current deck types in Japan. Catcher is possibly the most used card in the game at the moment.

If this is the case, I'm kind of puzzled by Archeops. Does he really manage to see that much play over there?

It could also be projected play with Twist Mountains release, but maybe they do, If Mewtwo is most of the format, and you want to stop your opponent from setting up Gardevoirs, maybe thats what they use?

@Baby Mario: Makes sense, i'm just trying to figure out how Archeops could possibly be meta :I

I don't believe Gardevoir is used in virtually every Japanese Mewtwo deck.

Eelektrik/Mewtwo and Celebi/Mewtwo seem faster.

If I've learned one thing it's that the meta can make virtually anything happen, all it needs is a little initiative. Perfect example, Ross decks were thought up on the spot (or something like that) and it nearly won worlds. (Same thing with Gyrados)

Anyway since some people seem to think 10 :dark: Pokemon isn't a lot, when I punch it into my little calculator I get about 13% of the cards are dark type, and 15% are :dark related. That's a pretty sizable amount when you have 9 types, Trainers, Ultra Rares, and Secret Rares (the latter two aren't even listed) to throw in too, especially since this is a main set.
