Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

kingdra isnt it good?

I still have not built a good Luxray yet but I have to disagree about Gliscor and Leafeon. In my experience Gliscors Weakness is too great of a handicap and Leafeon is just too slow. Guess Ill build a Luxray and see how it goes.

ok we had BR's this weekend and i ran my luxray deckand i got a 5-0 win
it beat AMU
Armaldo
glaceon
eveelutions
and empolion decks so ya lux is a good deckand now that POP is out ux is even more powerful

i partly agree with this post, gliscor imo will not consistently beat kindgra due to it needing a near perfect start to set up
but for leafeon i am almost positive a good leafeon list should win 80+% of the time. my leafeon list almost never got later then turn 3 leafeon X(that is if it wasnt a baltoy start or if i wanted a different eveelution T2/3) even if it takes untill turn 4 u should still be fine with letting one evee/baltoy/phione or chatot die, really all u need is one leafeon X MAYBE two to beat kingdra you just need to play your early game smart and not let the donk get u

T-1 Kingdra is evil. Aside from that, it's not that hard to beat.

Luxray, Electivire Lv.X, Leafeon Lv.X, and a few others can beat it. Electrode helps.

Kingdra is a beast and can beat any deck hands down with skill. The deck can donk but, it takes skillz to go against TurnCruel or Leafs or Lux or etc. The deck shouldnt be stuffed with techs and should be a straight Dra with Claydol and Uxie.

Any deck can beat any other deck with skill. I went 2-0 against my gf with torterra and then switched decks (she ran turncruel) and I 2-0ed her again. Its not that hard to beat opponets with very little skill or a bad list. Kingdra is not a great deck and will start to slow down its winnings (did it win any? lol) next weekend.

hmm even after kingdra won very few BR's people are still way over-hyping it. there were 15+ nor cal masters at each BR this weekend, none of the kingdra won or even top cutted. the only thing i can really see that kingdra has going for it them is the early game donk

The strategy with Kingdra Vs Leafeon is to out speed it.

Focus on the bench sitters Claydol then Espeon then Umbreon. I run 4 warp point and 3 Night Maintenance. you have to accept the attrition, you will lose a couple of Kingdras but you just keep bringing them back Speedrill style. Once you get the Claydol and another of the Eevelutions KOed (warp point) Leafeon will start to crumble. Then you finish off with Aqua Stream.

This is essentially how my Kingdra vs Leafeon match ups generally go. It does not always go perfect but just in my own experience Kingdra beats Leafeon 60/40

Now I am not trying to discount how anyone else feels about the match up I am just going with what I have played. Please just give me the benefit of the doubt that it is not a broken Leafeon deck, it is a solid deck.

Of course my opinion of Kingdra has been taken down a notch by my brother in law pulling a Bastion deck out of nowhere and schooling my Kingdra deck.

But that is another thread. :p http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=83180

guys...

it's not the deck.

it's the player.

AMU ... great
Kingdra .. great
Torterra/Sceptile .. great

But.. dude. BRs JUST started and people are still LEARNING THEIR PLAYS w/ their decks.
The cards won't be played the same in a couple of weeks. Decks and strategies will be tweeked.

ANY Deck has a chance given the situation and its player.

BTW.. I SMASHED every Kingdra deck that I faced at BRs. Not one loss to a Kingdra deck. But, I can tell it was only because everyone was concerned with their deck and not their decks downfalls. Now their focus is on tweeking.

I came across one guy who had AWESOME energy management and when people figure ways to quick build that discard pile and get used to knowing the strategy of their energy management (when to big hit and when to cripple and HOW MUCH they recycle from the discard for first attack and WHEN to do which attack.. how many energies to have in the deck... etc.) it will be a very solid deck. When the die-hard Kingdra players do a little more teching and tweeking, the deck is gonna be a serious threat.

Kyogre is perfect for the deck coz it can soread more- help with discarding- and it takes care of the mr mime problem its also a very good starter

Luxray imho beats Kingdra. 3 energy and discard 2 is not a problem with Electivire, Energy Switch and charge attacks.

Gliscor beats Kingdra unless they have both Regice and Dusknoir teched. Just drop 2 Mr Mime and they'll have to attach 3 energy to attack.

Eeveelutions or any Leafeon deck that also has Espeon in at beats Kingdra. Once Leafeon is there, they can only do 20 to it while Leafeon recovers with Dawn Stadium (and don't tell me Dawn Stadium helps Kingdra too, they usually attach only one energy to it).

The sheer fact that Kingdra completely out speeds all of these decks is the most important part. Early game these decks don't stand a chance.

Gliscor is auto win for Kingdra, attach 3 energy and a plus power/bucks to OHKO Mime (I did this many times at my last 2 tournaments) you don't even need regice. Dawn stadium and warp point easily get rid of paralyze. OHKO on everything. And this is all if you haven't already won by T4.

Leafeon,Magleaf,Eeveelutions beats Kingdra, unless they get the worse start ever. Evoluter and Call makes them to efficient not to get going by T3-T4. ALl they have to do is sac 2 pokemon, then Heal with Leafeon/Dawn.
