No one is complaining that its not on their coast.....

we want it in a different location instead of the same ones over and over :|

The only big building that can fit that many people in Niagara Falls is a casino and that is not good for children.
Keep your kids away from the casino or stay at a different hotel. Problem solved. The casino is in a completely different building so if kids are wandering over there then it's the parent's problem. ;)

On a completely different note I found some fun information about crossing the border into Canada via the Niagara Falls Hilton website (So take it with a grain of salt, I suppose). http://www.niagarafallshilton.com/visitors/index.php

From a parents standpoint, what I loved about Hawaii is that it is a resort. Everything is contained and the kids can hang out pretty much how they please and I know where they are.
Plus most people stay at the same location then, and it gives you a broader sense of the Pokemon community.

Since we have done this many many years, It seems that regardless of location or cost, if a player gets an invite they are going to travel. Case in point, the first year that Alex earned a invite to play...in Hawaii... ask Vince what happened to his judging invite that year?

So if World's were held somewhere new, Europe, Japan, New York, players may complain, but we are sick, sick people! We will go where ever the big yellow rat calls us too.

From the organizers standpoint though, I understand why they are choosing the same locations. You already know the space, the cost, the issues. Why reinvent the wheel when it already turns.

I would like to see somewhere new, as most of you all.

McCormick Place and Navy Pier were designed to hold that many people.

There are so, so many places in Chicago that could accommodate Worlds - beautiful places too. Chicago is a huge city. Conventions much larger than Worlds are held successfully there on a daily basis...

Chicago would be the best city ever to host it since worlds is right around the time of Lollapalooza. Oh man, perfect vacation for me right there. <3

I for one, would love to have worlds in chicago.

World's should be at GenCon. I go every year and see every card game, but am unable to find a pokemon booth, i hear they have regionals there, though I don't know. It is the biggest card game convention....why not?

something to consider: is TPCi booking the worlds venue in order to 'wow!' a first-time worlds participant, or to satisfy the desires of a repeat attendee to not be 'bored' by 'another' trip to hawaii?

Or is it just so TPCI/Nintendo/whoever can get a free vacation to Hawaii every now and then?

Is it a vacation with the hours they work while there?

I'm a production assistant in the film industry and regularly work 12 hour days, sometimes even up to 16. I know what a long day of work is. Walking around watching kids play pokemon can barely be called "work" and I have judged plenty of events before.

I'm not knocking what TOs and judges do for us players, but the amount of effort put into the "job" does not change anything. It's still a vacation.

So then you are saying you get 12 to 16 hours vacation every day? Doesn't matter where they are doing what they do they are still working.

I vote Seattle, not only because I live like 20 minutes away from it, but because it's awesome. A few reasons....

1): Very large player base. Look at all the players from Washington (many of them very accomplished), like David Cohen and Ross Cawthon.

2): Doesn't have the famous Seattle rain in the summer. In the summer it virtually never rains, and has decent temperature; not too warm, not too cold.

3): Lots of places to visit. I'm talking classic Seattle landmarks, like the EMP/SIFI Museum (so awesome), the Fremont Troll, the Space Needle. Lots of places.

4): Decent pricing flight-wise. Also an extremely nice airport.

5): Decent traffic. Nowhere near as busy as Chicago or New York.

6): Hotels. I'm not the most certain on this part, but I know there are a good amount of hotels in and closely around Seattle.

7): Venue. Again, I'm not the most knowlegeable on this part, but I know there are convention centers here, for the thousands of Comic cons held here.

I'd really like to see Nats in Seattle sometime. It would be amazing in my opinion. Don't take my word for it, though. I haven't been to Indy yet.

it is NOT a vacation for the judging staff, much less the OP staff. judge 'call time' is usually at least 90 minutes prior to when players arrive, and OP staff is earlier than that. and if you think the judge/OP staff are out of the venue as soon as the final round is over, you're wrong there too...

All due respect rokman, I'm not convinced that you (or anyone else suggesting the same thing) have a clear idea of the hours or work involved in putting together and running Worlds.
As the member of TPCi staff to spend the most time working with the Judge staff ("Walking around watching kids play Pokémon" as you put it) I have yet to work less than 85 hours week of show (more than half of that is racked up while on location) and there are a good number of my co workers that make me look lazy by comparison.

You claim that a nice place is picked so that our staff can get a vacation.

I would contend that the handful of staff who end up hanging out at the Worlds location after the event do so because the location is nice.

Trust me, there is a big difference. :)

Besides even if you don't believe me on my last point, consider that the folks who get the final word on the Worlds location are my boss’s bosses. I assure you that these folks really don’t need Worlds as an excuse if they decide that they want a vacation in Hawaii.

Wisconsin Dells. It's a vacationy place, and I'm fairly sure it would have a convention center big enough for worlds. And it's in a new place and far away from hurricanes like florida.

That just proves my point, but okay.
