Learn from the Pros: Tips for beating LBS

i dont think you know who moss is...

Are you trying to say that just because he's Moss, you can't disagree with him? =/

Nice article, Chuck.

Yamazaru, or whatever your name is, Manectric ex can't beat Blastoise unless it can get Blastoise into the active spot and hit for the 80, which will turn into 160 because of weakness. When you hit Blastoise on the bench, weakness isn't applied. I assume you knew that already, but because of this fact, it will take 2 turns to kill Blastoise (and Pidgeot, too, for that matter), and therefore, they can set up Steelix effectively on time and kill your Manectric after a couple turns. After that, if you bring up another Manectric, you will not be able to ignore the threat of an active Steelix, and you're forced to try and KO the Steelix, but its lightning resistance makes it impossible.

I fully agree with everything SuperWooper said, except the Moss thing. I constantly disagree with Moss just because of who he is.

Moss: Nice article Chuck

Chuck: No, it wasnt. it was a horrible article?

Moss: What?

Chuck: No, I don't think so.

Moss: What?

Chuck: SAY WHAT AGAIN I DARE YOU I DOUBLE DARE YOU!

I just watched that movie last night.

Oh, and manectric has resistance to metal, so you can't OHKO it with steelix.

but even after that, Steelix #2 is still there to clean up. If anything, try to Frontier lock them, and then hit them with a crutial admin at the end.

Erm...don't most of these run only one Steelix these days?

jim, people play the deck to fit their playstyle, draw engine, and preferences. florida is gonna be different from most other states other than the people that just come on here, find a list, and copy it.

P.S. it's ok to actually say my name now since im in your age group

Are you sure about that? I think the norm in Florida is 2 Lugia 1 Steelix (and people are running Latias *).

Can anyone else confirm or deny this? Waliken? Ryan?
Yes, in most BLS decks its 2 Lugia, 1 Steelix, 1 Mew, and 1 Blissy (not as good as it seems)

Yes...I am not a big fan of the Blissey and the Mew...but each to his own :)

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

M_Liesik?

He can neither...
Oh never mind.

That's an intersting question though - the advantages of running 2x Steelix over other variations.

thats not the idea either, lemme post a deck up so you know

Florida typically runs 1/1 steelix and the 2 lugia, although I used to run 2/2 steelix and 1 lugia. 2/2 and 2 lugia is what I'll probably end at. just no room for blissey and mew tech and stuff. it won't be as suited for the mirror, but it'll be suited for the rest of the metagame a bit better.

Cool. Just one question about the following:

If you play POW with Scramble, you can POW up the Blastoise and maybe hit it with a big lightning pokemon like Amphy, Metagross, or Trode EX.
What's scramble got to do with electrode ex?

I agree with Moss. You can throw in your Lunasols, Pow/Admins etc. etc. and get a 5050 matchup but until Storm doesn't have 5050s as its worst it is definitely the best deck.

Metagame 101 for Regionals,

If you can't field a deck that isn't competive with LBS, go home. That is all we are really saying in this endless banter. The list is fairly complete, but in the end, we need to be able to execute(or) an attack plan against LBS, and still have a chance against the other decks out there.

Way to Save Pidgeot OHKO from Steelix, Have Electric and Holon GL on it.
I think you have to add many many more things other than just a Holon GL and Electric to beat a deck, but somthing for folks to think about.
