Kayle, be honest here. How big do you think the chance is of us NOT getting the rule changes? You know, kinda like how we got the whole rule changes when DP was released?

Did the rule changes happen just spontaneously when DP was released?

Or did they wait until the format changed?

I guess it's very likely that we WILL get the rule changes.

The question is, will we get them while cards like Sableye, Uxie, and BTS are still in the format? They seem designed for JPN HGSS-on format, so maybe we shouldn't be panicking about Trainer spamming T1 donks yet.

Yeah, this is my argument. I don't think a mid-season rotation is happening, and because of that, I don't think a rule change is happening, either.

Change the rules all you want... post-rotation.

^
I believe they came when it was released as iirc the theme deck rule books had something different in them about it.

Hmm, okay.

It would be a pretty disastrous set of rule changes pre-rotation. I think it might be all right for RR-on, but...

Midseason rotation would be terrible.

Most decks need stuff from SF-PT.

Face it. RR-on, mid season at least, would be terrible.

The sooner SP's are gone, the better. Also, I have a whole list of ideas that would work without SF-PT... but they never see the light of day because of SP and SF (Gyarados, Machamp, Gengar).

I tested Undevelop PT-on. I think the only PT card I used [that hasn't been reprinted since] was Cyrus' Conspiracy I believe.

It worked. It worked very, very well, actually.

So there. ;P

SOme of us don't have the money to buy and build a new deck mid season.

I'm aware of that - there will always be that issue when it comes to card rotations, but it has never stopped any TCG from continuing to rotate cards. Furthermore, we have had a very unusual lack of rotation for some time now, so the Pokemon TCG is due for some sets to leave the format. Overall, however, I believe the main reason to get SP out of our format is for the health of the format. The game's simply not healthy right now. Any newcomer to the Pokemon TCG has to be made aware that they're very likely to lose on the first turn and that - unless they're running some lame deck like Gyarados, Gengar, or Machamp - their evolution deck will ultimately fail against SP.

Also, if you're afraid of a mid-season rotation, go ahead and start trading for the newer cards. I did some trading today and made sure that I focused on getting cards that were HGSS-on. :thumb:

I'm doing this to, I'm not afraid of a mid season rotation but its a heck of alot easier to do it now than in 5 months.

I love how Gengar Prime is over $40 on T&T now.

EDIT: It's also sold out. :p

They haven't been in stock since i started playing again. But now that LW is out its up there as the 3rd most expensive card in modified. Next to lux and uxie lvl x's. They buy him for 30 so its going to be nuts on gengar until either lost world gets fixed/good counters are made.

Mid-season rotation will NOT happen, they wouldn't do that to the players who spent time and money building their decks the way they like it. Plus with the league promos they've been giving out, such as Azelf, it would make them useless this season. Next season I see them making the format HGSS-Up only bc they want to make it x2 weakness and to have fresh cards out. Vilegar would die bc spiritomb would be gone and so would BTS,SP's would be gone, and so would Gyarados. I dunno that's just my opinion.

No, Vilegar would die because gengar will be rotated :p

Devil's advocate time.

Don't they do that every year anyway?

They did this last year, too, by rotating out all POP packs at once...

is the lost gar any good. does it have palkia hochkrow lumineon seeker

Well, it is Erik Nance's list courtesy of **********, so it MUST be good...

I can see that happening.
Lostgar being shut off from it's powers makes it very slow.

Nope. Read Below.

So basically you are completely omitting an entire deck concept (I use the word concept because there are many ways to win with gengar and the lost world) because you and your buddies played 3 games with a brand new, un-tested, gengar deck and it lost to a regigigas deck that has been around for a fair bit of time? Lol please, that's like the people who said vilegar sucks because they played with crap lists. Now vilegar is top 3 most played and winning (prob not for long though).

Regigigas should have a hell of a time vs lostgar because if the X in the 3-1 line (usually it's 3-1 in my experience) gets lost zoned then regigias pretty well loses the game. If you want to get a faster hurl into darkness then run mewgar.

Also I laugh at the people who say mewgar would blow because mew has low hp. Imo mewgar means mew AND gengar...meaning you have both options as attackers. You can still use gengars, just using mews in between the turns of getting gengars up makes stuff faster. If you need a faster hurl into darkness then get one with a fast mew. If you wanna slow down the game to set up faster use spiritomb and palkia GX. Imo a 1-1 palkia gx should be standard in all lost decks.

The point being, there are sooo many ways to run lostgar, and by completely omitting it vs some single deck based on 3 single games vs a single person in a single area...with a single decklist...I don't think I need to explain that :S

Sorry, but you're wrong. One game my sole Regigigas lv x was lost zoned, but the matchup still isn't bad. The first game, I was losing, and then 30+3 went on and he couldn't zone the last 2 Pokemon. I simply discarded Pokemon with Sage's Training, and Junk Arm. Keep in mind that this was the first time I had ever plaeyd the deck, so I wasn't too keen on what to do.

Game 2 ran much more smoothly. Setup a gigas and drag stuff off, take cheap prizes while he seekers crap and lost zones it. Once he wastes 3-4 turns hurling things into darkness and zoning them, I pay heavy attention to my hand and bench. My bench had nothing. My hand, no pokemon. Only thing active was a Gigas X with 4 energy (DCE/DCE). What is Lostagr supposed to do to an active Gigas X with no damage on it? There's nothing they can do. They'd literally need to attack for 5 turns straight, and by then, I would have already taken the remaining prize cards.

Game 3, once I got Gigas X up with no bench, he scooped.

Tl;Dr

Lostgar can do nothing to an active regigigas lv x with no bench or Pokemon in their hand. Also, you just discard all Pokemon. I was at the point in game 2 where it was impossible for him to meet his win condition because I had no more Pokemon left in my deck or hand.
