You need a Mewtwo counter. When against anything with Mewtwo the player playing Mewtwo should be smart enough not to play anything on their bench untill they see the basic of a Mewtwo counter to kill it off quickly. Id put in Missmagius but I would try them all to find the one you most like.

2-2 lines of your chomp and luxray may seem more consistent. The problem with this is if one of your luxrays or chomps is stuck in the prizes you are going to be stuck with an extra level x. in your hand that is completely useless. Not to mention you do not run any collectors and no cynthias which would help with even more consistency. Im not going to give you any suggestions since there are many ways to run a deck, but the 2-2 lines should be traded out for 3-1 just for a well rounded style of playing and maybe drop a rosy or two for pokemon collectors.

One thing to help you. You do not need a mewtwo counter. IT is highly unlikely if you are in a super competitive meta or even a good tournament environment that a mewtwo will even dare to show its face. Simply put, mewtwo is a horrible card and is only good against sp, and since there are way more stage 2 types and alot of gyrados out right now (if your in florida atleast) running a mewtwo counter seems pointless and with the introduction of DCE Garchomp and a crobat will destroy any mewtwo ready to attack.

side note: If you cant counter a mewtwo before it happens with your sp deck, you have either an inconsistent list or a really bad start.

Go ahead amd play your Sp deck with no Mewtwo counter. I have found many ways to get mewtwo out even when the LuxChomp player has had a great start.

This is all irrelevant though if the luxchomp player is topcutting cause of his uber consistent, non mewtwo countering list (2-3 extra cards means a lot in a super tight SP list) while the mewtwo player is stuggling to get in cause mewtwo is pretty awful except for against SP (and even that's debateable).

Seriously what will not playing a mewtwo counter cost you in today's metagame? 1-2 matches in a tourney max? That's still good enough to top-cut at the majority of events and ride your awesome luxchomp list to success. The only issue comes when and if the loss occurs during pool play or top cut (if it happens at all). Losing a top cut match just cause you don't run a mewtwo counter really sucks, but who's to say you would have even top cut without your uber-consistency? I know I really wish that I would have dropped my 1-1 DGX line plus basic metal for a 4th power spray, 3rd sp radar, and 4th DCE seeing as I only played the mirror the whole day.

People play mewtwo against SP and still lose to SP (lol, SP has no less that 3 ways of dealing with benched mewtwo even without a hard counter).

The bigger injustice here is running only 3 Cyrus, lol.

Just a thought but what if he plays 2 mewtwoes on bench at once? What would you do then? Beg him to get out just one? .ppp

I think he threw this list out there to get people's reactions. Someone probably gave him the list claiming it was perfect, when clearly it has a few shortfalls. It's not atrocious, but the 3 Cyrus, 3 Sprays, and no Unown G stick out like a sore thumb.

Ok then what whould you do when a you go against Mewtwo T2?

In my 30+ premier rated matches and quadruple that amount taking friendlies and non-sactioned tourney matches into account, either scenario you guys have described has only happened to me once, which ironically was against hatter himself during a suddent-match for a BR win. So during 1/150 of my games, opposing player does exactly what you guys describe. Sounds mighty intimidating. Taking friendlies out of the equation, its still only 1/30.

If I'm an SP player, I'm much more worried about getting my T1-T2 powers sprayed, getting donked by opposing player, having terrible recovery, etc. Scenarios that are way more likely to happen than either mewtwo-fest you guys bring up.

Someone really smart here on the gym said that you can't tech for everything. And if you do, you're (probably) gonna lose.

re-read Mewtwo's Body.

Hahaha I am well aware of Mewtwo's LV.X's pokebody. You cant put a Mewtwo lv.x on your bench soooo when he puts the basic mewtwo on his bench and even if he plans on leveling up next turn you can bright look up the BASIC MEWTWO and kill it with a Zen Blade from Uxie LV.X.

sweet story brah...
this deck is so far from perfect is ridiculous.

your mewtwo defense strategy doesnt work if they leave their bench empty.... (or at least leave their bench empty enough so you can take all 6 prizes) i mean come on, think about it.....

ps 3 cyrus is a joke

I would like to thank everyone for the input so far on this thread. I have learned a lot about the deck. :)
I hope the discussion can continue.

LEVEL MAX FTWWWWWW

LEVEL MAX FTWWWWWW

ARIZONA SHALL RISE AGAIN.

I love how whenever there is an SP list posted without a Mewtwo counter, all the bad kids scream out "ZOMG CALL FOR TWO MEWTWO!" but, as xcfrisco said, that rarely happens, if ever, and furthermore, you rarely see those kids winning with their counter-packing Luxchomp builds.

Edit: I'd like to point out I'm not criticizing every demand for a Mewtwo counter. If Mewtwo is heavily played in your meta, it's a valid choice. However, it is asinine to act like you will only play down Mewtwo the second you see SP, especially in tournament play. As a matter of fact, I doubt even the kids running 2-1 Mewtwo would do that. Would you like to risk them KO'ing everything else you have in play then dropping their counter FTW?

Does anyone use the Rumble Mewtwo in combo with the Level X. His attack is kinda lousy but he does have 100 hp versus 80 in the LA version?

p.s. I know this is a Luxchomp thread but there has been a lot of discussion about how easy it is to snipe Mewtwo before he can level up.

The MD Mewtwo has 90 HP... Energy Absorption... Recover...

I would sacrifice the 10 HP anyday.
