Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Machamp Vileplume

I love this deck. However, it's recovery and swarming possibilities are greatly harmed with plume.

I've been thinking of running it for regs, but I don't think I will.

I find the sudden discovery of a card that card automatically move vileplume out of the active spot if its brought up and play WITH trainer lock humorous...

On topic though the deck IS beast. I played it during battleroads a couple times over Gigas...needless to say the substitution felt akward, but the deck did well until I hit Jerin playing scizor in swiss...

No offense but if he DIDN'T play seeker he's a tool...

Comments on the deck itself...it alot better than vilegar but it can have major energy issues...but that's been a general issue since roseanne's got nuked...

You also NEED 4 collector...it's one of THOSE decks...

Look into unown P, rainbow energy and regirock.

Uxie X is nice to revenge KO people that get cute and actually manage to KO your champ with anything psychic (including uxie x)

Probably shouldve asked this from the get go without assuming...but this IS Machamp PRIME right?

He also is running a similar deck with the focus more on the Prime with Zong G to move energy over multiple times for Champ Buster. Like a less clunky Machamp Donphan.

He does not own Uxie X.

I'm pretty sure he played 2 Seekers yes.

Wait...so he currently focuses more on SF champ?

Zong G doesn't sound like a positive imo...

He didn't play Bronzong G at states. He's just testing it atm.

In testing he wound up using SF Champ more than Machamp prime.

He ran seeker lol the list you guys posted are way off. The deck is good but curran is jus an excellent player. It does beat Gdos though and is good for a heavy Gdos lux meta gengar and dialga are winable but tuff matches....

So I guess my question is...

Why don't more people play it?

You want the real answer? It's not a meta deck...just like magnezone, people aren't gonna risk playing it or testing it when they can rely on luxchomp to WIN tournaments.

I dropped it after two battleroads just because even though it was fun, it DID have some issues in consistency like any other stage 2 deck does and I preferred Gigas in terms of playstyle. I'm HOPING I'll be able to keep the idea for next format, but no tomb makes this deck really really sad...

My list is also a lot different then the one posted.

Because it has a pretty bad Vilegar matchup and can be moderately inconsistent at times.

If you read his report, his only legitimate loss (other than a donk) during both weekends was to Vilegar/Lost World.

I lost to a random psychic deck with champlume. :/ It's recovery is that bad. It's not a meta deck either. It has potential, but not as BDIF.

Regirock is such an amazing tech in this. I definatly reccomend it.

The thing about Champ is that it Thrives of Swarming with 1 energy take outs and then after the opponent would have survived the Swarm you sweep with Machamp prime in combo with Rainbow energy to get damage counters around. It works in theory but when you add Vileplume and Spiritomb, you through of the combo people know and love/hate. In a Vilechamp, I'd imagine focusing more on Champ prime, I would even go on a limb and say play a 3/1 Prime heavy split of Champ. as if you can get Champ SF out before your opponent sets up, Champ Sf loses his purpose. It doesn't really serve a purpose to me other than to keep your Sp match up in your favor.

Hey thanks for list. I understand he doesn't want his list out in the open, but I was wondering if he is any other state other than Florida, do u he might pm me his list? Really the only thing I want is a complete t/s/s list. If u can I would grateful. Thanks

Luxchomp DOESN'T beat this deck.
It really can't. there's no way for you to Premier Ball back Uxie X. Even with Dialga, SP can't keep up with Machamp while setting all of that up under Trainer lock. Playing the Plume option lessens your dominance v. Dialga, but that's an uphill battle for them anyways.

Porii's list is really off and really bad.

Its only loss is Gengar, and even then it can discard excess T/S/S with Regirock. Virginia had only 1 competitive Gengar, so Curran reaped the spoils.

It's a standard 2-2 Champ split.

i know machamp is a better attacker compared to gengar sf against SP, but the reason vilegar works so well is that you could use level down. if vileplume were paired with machamp, it has nothing to fall back on until DGX is knocked out. i mean, once pokemon catcher is released you will have a solution, but then you have to think if you want to clog up your deck with it.

the champlume pairing sounds good, but vilegar, a better contender to SP IMO, still has trouble against it. and the main problem being that vilegar has so many resources to keep the lock going.

so if you are worried about SP. Vilegar or straight machamp.
if youre worried about gyarados or anything else, play Luxchomp because it could beat everything

The stupid thing is that putting Plume into Machamp helps you beat a deck you already beat, while giving you worse matchups against everything else. Hm.
