Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Mario Kart DS Tournament! Round One Pairing(s) and Listing(s) posted!

there's specific points on specific tracks where if you fall off you spawn a lot further and generally get teh advantage. Not skill, just cheating.

That sounds like what someone did to me on Wi-Fi. On GBA Sky Garden at the shortcut where you have to hop twice to get across he hopped once and fell off but respawn automatically further up. I was so PO'd.

If Snaking's not allowed then this is a heap of tauros poop. Snaking isn't cheating like that respawning glitch

I'm guessing sometime after Labor Day (next monday). But then again who knows.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

If Snaking's not allowed then this is a heap of tauros poop. Snaking isn't cheating like that respawning glitch

It's cheating when you abuse it, like you do it non-stop.

is snaking the power slide, or is it hiding behind someone to reduce wind resistence and gain a boost of speed?

First thing's first. To answer all of the questions that were asked, I will create a FAQ within this post, and create a link in the original post to this post so people can notice this FAQ. I will probably be editing this with answers to more questions that may be asked further among the tournament.

Q: How will the tournament be arranged and ran?
A: There will be three, or four people assigned to each race. The person in last place for each round will be eliminated from the tournament and then the next round will begin. I'm hoping that we can all try to compromise and schedule an available time for us all to be online at the same time. Because of that, this tournament schedule and format may change. The other three people that you're racing during your four races will be determined at random. The placements will be determined by the score and number of points at the end, of all four races, therefor, if anyone disconnects before the 4th race is finished, they are put into last place, thus, giving them an elimination within the tournament.

Q: How long will the tournament last?
A: Because I don't know this, and the way the tournament will be run, I will have to compare this tournament to recent Pokemon D/P tournies that you may have been noticing. Because not everybody will be online at the same time, it will probably take a few days, if not months. If everyone is online at the same time and we can finish a few rounds and maybe even the tournament in one day, then that'd be great.

Q: What is "snaking" and is it banned?
A: Snaking is defined, in my own words, as the constant drifting from left to right or vice versa, resulting in several speed boosts. Because this option is available for all players in the game, it is not banned. It is called snaking, because when you do these constant drifts, you travel from left to right resulting in a snake-like movement.

Q: What is the difference between snaking and drafting?
A: As I said above, "Snaking is defined, in my own words, as the constant drifting from left to right resulting in several boosts" where as Drafting, in my own words, is defined as gaining a speedy boost by staying behind another player/kart for a decent moment of time.

Q: Since there's no way to directly locate your opponents, is there an easier way to locate them so we're racing the right opponents' and don't get mixed up with some other people in our Friend Roster?
A: When you add your opponents' or friends in your game and connect to Wi-Fi, they will appear under/in your Friend Roster. When you're in your Friend Roster you see locks next to each persons name. If the lock is unlocked you have less of a chance of searching that person up while searching for friends/opponents' but it IS still possible that you will search them. If that lock is locked, you have a good, and better, chance of finding that person while searching for them on Wi-Fi. Though, this isn't a guarantee that you'll be playing everybody that you're supposed to be playing, so I'll be trying to make it as easy as possible to get the right opponents' and make sure you know who you're playing.

Q: What do the color codes mean in the first topic on the tournament thread?
A: I decided to make things easier by color-coding some of the main details. I decided to work it this way. Underneath of the entries column there will be three main details listed, as well as them being color-coded so that they're easier to find.
Red = There Username
Blue = There Mario Kart DS Friend Code
Green = There in-game name in Mario Kart DS
Anyone that I don't know of there in-game names will say "Unknown" in Green. So if I don't know your in-game name, or have you listed, let me know ASAP.

This is the FAQ, as of right now. Also, I must add, I would certainly hope that nobody would use cheats or break the rules to win as well as using glitches to there advantage. That certainly ruins the game and ruins the entire concept of having fun within the tournament.

I guess I should add why snaking got its name to the FAQ, huh? What do you think? lol.

Edit: Edited that, and added that information to that definition area of the FAQ.

okay, i say, start your engiens!

I'm going to wait it out, just a little bit longer before I go off closing entrances. Some people may want to enter, but I close the entrances before they post or even notice. It happens in all of the tournaments I run, so this time I'm going to wait it out just a tad longer so it doesn't happen this time. Although, I have a feeling it'll happen somewhere within this tourny length anyway. lol.

i think that if u wait any amount of time someone is going to want to enter late. idc if u keep waiting i m just stating.
