Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Mexico Nationals, hopefully LIVE updates thread!

just wondering how those SP decks got there without Radar... :s
Thats pretty much a must in a SP deck =/

Ability... i got second with the SP Deck , the thing is than in mi city (Puebla the 4th biggest city in mexico) we dont have RR(I DONT KNOW WHY there are like 10 TCG stores), so i had to play with what i have, im very sure than with the new cards i had a bigger chance to win the final...any way i hope Pablo get the Invite, it will be fair... the invites should stay in the Country that they are played... good luck pablo¡ i hope to see you there with all mi others friends¡¡ se ya at worlds guys¡¡

8-3 , lost to me in top 8 , but probably gets an invite on ranking...

I am not sure if he will have gained enough points. I went 7-2 during Regionals and only went up about 33 points or so. Now granted due to some bad luck I lost to someone rated 1500, which I am pretty sure Miguel didn't do, but where I have him beat, is that I beat and lost to people higher than me. I think that going 8-3 is not really good. The problem is no matter who Miguel played he won less than 16 points if he won and lost more than 16 if he lost. The biggest issue is a majority of the players who he played were most likely much lower than him ranking wise. I would expect that he is going to go up, but VERY LITTLE and I don't expect it will be enough to gain a rating invite but it might end up being really close, which is really uncool, but most likely reality. :frown:

Nice job on the T8, Pablo, hope you can get that passdown.

As for Miguel, 8-3, but he lost in T8, and won matches in T32 and T16. Those players had to have been at least decently rated after 7-1 or 6-2 performances in swiss. He's currently 1836, I think he gets the invite unless he lost to terribly rated players in swiss.

I expect him to be at/or around 1850, but not much higher than that. Maybe 1855, but anything higher than 1860 would SHOCK me.

Well the 2 players he lost to (Round 7 and 8 of swiss, as he was 6-0 and thus his opponents were as well. One started out the tournament at around 1740 and was the only undefeated player after swiss. He must've been at 1800+ by the time he faced Miguel (Round 7). The other one started out at less than 1600 but that must've made him climb to around 1700 by the time he faced Miguel (Round 8). Then Ivan Zaldivar who beat him was also at 8-2 but started out the tourney at around 1650, and he beat a few high ranked players, so he must've been at around 1750+ at least as well. It does look like it will be very close to him.

Nationals has lots of prizes. I would not want any player attending any countries' nationals to know in advance that by taking part they might void one of the prizes at Nationals.

What purpose would be served by inviting players who know before the tournament starts that they cannot go to Worlds?

======
speculation on points.
starting at 1835 and going 6-0 will yield something like +45
Losing the next two will probably mean at least a 35 point loss, but probably more.
The WWL in the top cut is likely to produce very little gain or loss.
Overall I don't expect Miguel's rating to change very much. As long as his rating doesn't drop I expect he will just manage one of the 25 ratings invites in the NA zone.

Unfortunately for Miguel I would not be at all surprised if his rating drops a little.

NoPoke I agree on the first part, it's not difficult to determine who has Visa or not, and it's not like a Top 32 player would get an invite, literally they would be passed down to 5th and 6th place, both of whom have been previous Worlds attendees.

As for the points. He won 45 yeah, then he lost the next 2 matches, then he WON the next 2 matches (Top 32 and Top 16) and finally lost in Top 8. the 3 losses might eat up the points gained in swiss, but he still has those 2 games won in Top Cut to make extra points, and he'd definately make more than just 15 points in 2 top cut 32K matches IMO.

Pablo.DOH! I realised afterwards that 8-3 is not a WWWWWWLLL DOH!
I've adjusted my post. 6-0 followed by LLWWL is going to be hard to predict.

Well done, Top 8,considering you didnt play much this season is very good out of Nats that big, guess we are all routing you get the ratings invite!
