Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Midwest Trading Card Game Regional Championship April 12-14, 2013

Just like Pooka's streaming, I'm putting up videos on my Youtube channel as quickly as I'm recording them. I'm about one round behind, but that's pretty darn good for a bad internet connection, right?

I'm currently uploading all the videos that I couldn't get uploaded on Saturday or Sunday. The entirety of the Madison Regionals coverage I got will be up on this stream by tonight (if not sooner).

Congratulations and thanks to Jimmy Ballard, Debbie Ballard, Troy Lesky, Camille Peltier-Robson, and the whole team for a great tournament! Wonderful job and we had a great time! If only you guys ran Nationals!

Hi y'all,

It looks like my son might have left his deck there on Sunday. The last time he had it, he was playing in the Win A Box side event. It's in a Charizard deck box. It may, or may not have his name on it.

If anyone knows about it, can you PM me? And does anyone know who I should contact from the organizers about lost stuff?

Thanks,

Bob

Big props to Jimmy for finding the deck! He's going to get it back to my son! The wailing and crying has stopped!

Thanks again Jimmy!

Bob

quick question was the side events sanctioned because the extra play oints would be nice to have to save on having to go on a battle roads spree to get my last 5 points

Best guess is that, if they are sanctioned, it will take up to a week to get them online. Be patient! BTW, only one of them would count for P!P, as you can only earn one P!P from a sanctioned non-Premier tournament a month.

Whew! What an awesome weekend we had!! It was truly incredible! Still haven't caught up completely yet, but here are some details for the inquiring minds who want to know!

Saturday for the TCG we started out with 241 Masters with 8 rounds and Top 32, 94 Seniors with 7 rounds and Top 16, and 51 Juniors with 6 rounds and Top 8 for a total of 386 for day 1.

Sunday for the VG Championship we had 106 Masters with 7 rounds and Top 8, 35 Seniors with 6 rounds and T8, and 27 Juniors with 5 rounds and Top 4. for a total of 168

So our player total for the 2 days was 554. Was really a great time there at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison - absolutely love the venue... plenty of room to sprawl out, beautiful view of the lake out the massive windows, they had good, reasonable food on site, it was an easy location to find... overall I think everyone loved it!

Here's a link to my Album of pictures from the event... I have more to add that I'm waiting on receiving, and I haven't had a chance to tag or comment on them yet, (so feel free to do so if you'd like). Also if anyone has any they would like to share and have me add, by all means please feel free to send them to me or send me links to yours, I'll be happy to add/include them!

Each day I gave away 2 Pokemon hats that I'd made... On Day 1 it was Umbreon and Pikachu, and on Day 2 it was Mew and Mewtwo. Here are the lucky hat winners -

Umbreon - Galen W
Pikachu - Nate T
Mew - Darrin C
Mewtwo - Marcus J

We had 2 'Guess How Many' Jars - a big jar of goodies to guess each day. On Saturday it was Gourmet Jelly Beans (Jason E won that one) and on Sunday it was Chocolate Kisses and Reeces pieces (won by Shawn M)

In the Activity Center, we gave away over 2 boxes of Booster Packs to lucky winners posted on the Winner Wall after each round for 5 different Free Mini-Games that were always available to play in between rounds or if you finished your matches early... You could play Pokemon Yahtzee (get a Yahtzee of 5 Pokemon in 3 rolls) , Dice Stacker (see how many dice you could stack in a single column in 15 seconds), The Headless Flipper (see how many tails in a row you could flip), Guess the Pokemon (reach your hand into the special Bag without peeking and see if you could guess which Pokemon figure was inside in 15 seconds), and It's Super Effective! (see if the Pokemon die you rolled was Super Effective against the Pokemon we rolled!). Lots of fun Mini-Games to amuse yourselves with!

There were also lots of things to color in the Art Corner as well as an Original Art Contest on both days. I'm not sure I got the names of all the winners there (a winner for each age group for both for Coloring and for Original Art) but I do have the winning pictures/drawings/objects and many of them posted in the Album, so be sure to check them all out! Very creative group we had! One winning submission was even an amazing 3D Shining Raquaza figure! Did you see that thing?! (here it is) Awesome, hard to believe it was made out of paper!

Also Players who Preregistered on Friday got entered in a special drawing for a chance for a triple Door Prize win - a Playmat, a Hat, and a Binder, all 3! That lucky winner was Samuel R! Congrats!

Let's see, what else can I tell you about the event... oh Marriland was there playing in both the TCG and the VGC, and delighted several of the Video Game Players by taking time to talk with them, taking pics with them, signing some autographs, and even signing several DSs! They were very excited to be able to meet him in person after having watched so many of his Pokemon videos on his website, Marriland.com and on Youtube.

Finally, I'd like to give our fantastic Organizer Jimmy Ballard some BIG, BIG kudos for running such an amazing event! Aside from just a few little glitches, both days ran very smooth and on time and overall he did an INCREDIBLE job in making this Regional Championship Event a wonderful weekend to remember! He put a sick amount of time into planning it all out, and surrounded himself with a great staff of about 35 Judges, Runners, Computers, Helpers and others, including his fantastic wife Debbie, his hard working family, and his right hand man, Head Judge Troy Lesky. Certainly a job well done and I know I can speak for everyone on his Staff in saying 'Jimmy you're the BEST! We luv ya man!!'

I'll no doubt think of something else I forgot to mention, but until then...

See you all there next year everybody!!
