Mommarock Massachusetts State Report

Momma Rock & BJJ
Thanks for giving Marc props. It means alot.
Johnston is definitely a great place to go to boost your game.
We haven't been able to check out Poke Daddy's league (for many of the same reasons he gives for not being able to make it to Johnston) but we hear that there is a very high level of play there as well.
We enjoyed both the RI and Ma states and look forward to Regionals on 4/18.
And we missed Hanaan too

Well done!

league

Hey everyone,

This is what I think, Pokemon league is great where ever it is. The one thing that I will say about Johnston, Ri (Disposible Heros) is we work with our young players every weekend. Our Masters such as Gino Lombardi, Alex and Jon Frezza , Con Le, Brian Jessing, Danny and Twiggy etc. We all work with our younger players and we all share cards and deck idea. And Brain Jessing is one of the best Pokemon League leaders and Judges on the circuit. He is fair and honest. Trying to show our group what a little hard work can do.. I being a mother of 4 that play and have brought a lot of new people in this year think we are one of the best leagues around. We take pride in our actions and our childrens actions. But I must say New England is such a close net community such as TJS, HIT AND RUN, BATTER UP, GAME CASTLE, ETC. and at all of these places the League leaders are Fantasic. Such as Steve Arena, Patty and Gary Lawson, Jemery Jones, Patty Lafeavor, we all work together to make sure our playing is fair, and up to par.
We also have Tom and Judy Shea who are so wonderful and make things happen for us Pokemon lovers. I do think our New England circuit is wonderful.

And I know that Gino has helped many younger players way back even before my family came on the Pokemon circuit.

So I will end by saying New England is Wonderful.:thumb:

I agree with all of this.....Brain is a great Judge....when i went to Maine for states the Judge just suuucked...I mean she didnt time the rounds, everyone started when they wanted, she made bad calls....one was that machamp can hit unown g with damge which Machamp can't......letting Family members near players.....leting people be near people in the top 8....its good to be in a realax place but i like rules and the Judge didnt know ANYTHING ABOUT POKEMON!!! but it was fun and I can Josh Hoppenbrouwer came in 9th place missing top cut with my Machamp deck. :( which i balme me getting down paired twice and playing a person in the first round who went 1-5 the whole day. I played two good decks....Matt Adiar playing Gengar...I almost one but he Full moon skip me for his last two prize...The closets ive ever came to beat Gengar. And almost came Back to win Against Torrta/Scpetile but he got turn one torrta and spectlie and it was tough to pull off a win with your last swicth is in your prize cards to do rescture for the win. But Jon did very well and Gino (the king of cheating lol) did great wih a differnt version of his G deck. But gino stick with your first version that you won RI states with its soo much better. If this pargraph doesnt make any sense to you I blame school.....anyways Ill see all my fellow leaguers on friday at 7 10 because i work crazy hours now.

also Jimmy Jay you should of gone to Maine Staes with Dan and Meg...the had 5 senior players..lol

Josh,

I think you are getting better all the time. Regional is right around the corner..
You are a wonderful asset to our league..
I am really glad to have you a part of our league.

Mommarock:biggrin:

...... When it comes to my boy's talent and skill, do not attribute it wholly to your league. By doing so, you diminish his skills as well as the skills of others who win and play at our leagues.

:nonono: Ignore the ravings of a proud parent. I can guarantee you if Thomas did not come to my League, he would never have won NH states. :thumb:

Nor any of the other champions. Con? Why he would've gone 0-9. Gino? He'd still be playing Duel Masters (probably be Nat'l Champ at it too).

Honest. My League is THAT magical.

....they also come to my league too.

But no one else knows that (i see no TJ's League post in the League forum). If there was one, that post, the Game Castle & mine would be on page 1 all the time.

Advertising always helps a League out.

Magical, and smart too! That's why everyone keeps referring to you as "Brain." Thanks, Brian for all you do to promote the game, and for helping out teaching new players and educating parents on the program wherever you go. I've seen you do it over and over again even when you come up north to my area and I appreciate your efforts! Thanks!

No doubt brian u definetly set the tone for what a great league should look like! If someone is trying to run a league they should come to you and ask for advice. I remember back in the day around 2005 or 2006 when I first started playing. I called you up and you held league at a Library. I told you about this place called disposable heroes where I used to play Duel Masters at. It was me, you, and your family. 4+ Years later the league that had 6 people grew to a league that has 40-50+ leaguers Weekly. Not just players locally but Regionally .. People from MA, NH, CT, NY, and I remember VT once. I've helped you along the way but u've done soo much more. You set the standard of what league should be like. Congrats.

Brian are u going to steves league this weekend? Cuz I wanna go because im unbanned and I want to help that league too. Lemme know

That is ture.....Only if the person who ran the Maine states can really see how a real event is run, life would be so much better!!

Truer words have never been [DEL]said[/DEL] typed.

You want to get better, League is the way to go. Thomas hasn't shown in ages, he showed up 3 and 2 weeks ago, *BAM* NH State Senior Champ. Matt showed up 3 weeks ago (though he forgot to sign in) and *BAM* Maine 2nd Masters and 3rd NH. Gino shows up constantly - RI & Maine Masters Champ. Aylam shows up constantly (& on Saturday!) - RI & MA Seniors Champ. Duncan shows up consistantly RI Jr Champ & MA 2nd. Alex 3rd RI Masters & 2nd MA (he's even been my substitute LL on Saturday). OK Tyler hasn't been able to come the past few weeks but MA Masters Champ. Jon 3rd ME Masters. Tony every Friday and T16 (shout out to Tony). Dan T16. Squiddy OK he shows up but rarely plays (have to get that changed) 2nd RI Jr & 4th ME. Marc Jr - 3rd Seniors MA (& he comes Saturday too!) Props to Marc! I know i'm forgetting lots of you. My wife T8 in ME.

You certainly do run a good League, Brian. It's well-organized and you pull in a great crowd. I do have to agree with Steve, though. When I went down there, I played the regular people I would play at TJ's League. People do keep to themselves; the UG, or whoever is being associated with that group, stay in the corner. I would never attribute my wins to one given League or person. It takes a village... and all that. My growth is thanks to years of playing, being pushed by our tight-knit community to strive to be better and, of course, our consistently exemplary judging staff!

Now for something on topic!: congrats, Michelle. I'll be gunning for you at BRs, babe.
