Alright I'm not going to name any names or anything, or bash anyone, it's just something I want to get out in the open.
Summer, 2006 (or sometime around there), Holon Phantoms was released in the United States. I go buy a pack, and guess what I get. I get a reverse holo Raichu d.
"COOL!" I thought.
I saw much potential in Raichu, so immediately I decided to start building a deck for the rat. I decided to name my deck "Dragchu", seeing as some people usually combine their main Pokemon names in their deck together. "Dragchu", as you may think, stands for Dragonite and Raichu. I spend some good time using the deck and working out all the kinks and I found the deck to be VERY fun.
Then sometime that summer, July I think, Origins 2006, Martin Moreno wins Nationals once again with a suprise deck "RaiEggs".
The info hit PokeBeach, and PokeGym and people started to make their own list of the deck. I never posted my deck anywhere (Dragchu). Soon after I go to my local store and wow, how sad this was. People started to call me names just because I ran a similar deck to the one Martin had used to win. They said "Why can't you be more original and leave the top tier decks alone. Stop *explicit* around and make your own deck."
I was amazed at that, they didn't know how much time I worked on this deck before it even became famous. I'm not saying I was the first one to think of a Raichu d combo, there's plenty of people I bet, Martin Moreno just happened to be the one to take the deck to the top.
Not only did that happen in real life, on casual games on Apprentice with a few individuals, I was turned down and insulted just because I ran the deck. What the heck is that? Remember LBS? A LOT of people ran that deck, and nobody said anything. What made this deck so different? Was it because I was running it?
So anyways, have you ever been treated like that? Just because you happened to run a deck which happened to be popular and all of a sudden nobody likes you or wants to play you anymore. How would you react to something like that?
