So at the end of last year the meta game changed some but at the end GG and Empo prevailed. But as im looking at the new set im noticing that the meta game is intense.. theres so many net decks that it might actually be more strategy this year then who can play the deck better. but unfortunately i think Gengar will prevail in the end :[
but as always i wanna know what all of you guys think except robby.... lol jk his opinion is always valued highly

Well imo, if you look at IFDS, come City and States, I doubt there will be a "metagame" There are awesome lightning decks (Ray/Zone) fighting decks (Machamp/Groudon) water decks (Kingdra/Empo) Grass decks (leafeon/torterra/scizor/shaymin) metal decks (more zone) dark decks (krow/t-tar) psychic decks (Amu/Ghosts) and fire decks (Mag/heatran). The game goes in all different directions. All these decks are good, some better than others, but with so many options I think the game expands, and becomes more of what pokemon was intended to be about, diversity.

well if thats the truth ill be ecstatic as you can see my views in my first post but dusknoir and gengar i think will dominate. and i was thinkin t tar too but my friend bought two boxes and only pulled one t tar.... so im thinkin itll be one of the rarest cards in the set..

OK here is the deal, nearly every card from LA and from IFDS is going to be broken, and therefore I make this theory

POP is trying to make SO many broken cards that it balances out all of the other cards, it is like a HUGE power creep

Once IFDS comes out

Raichu will be BEASTly being able to KO the opponent's claydol so they can't set up as well as severely damages another pokemon they have.

Dusknoir is going to be super broken because if they don't play counter stadiums they will be dead in a few turns. or not

Electrivire Lv.X would fix the problem getting rid of the stadium and haveing Electrivire protected for a turn.

Once Regigigas comes out it is going to be BEASTly as well, 150 hp and able to heal 80 off.

Heatran Lv.X + Magmortar Lv.X (if you can get it setup with warp points and stuff) is ridiculous, torrid wave would become almost like a triple plus power.

Shaymin Lv.X + Torterra lv.X is jusdt scary, nough said

I think AMU will be one of the only two effective counters to Torterra/Shaymin being the only pokemon that hits 200 for 2. (The other counter being Magmortar)

Machamp Lv.X will make Mario Super awesome again. bring up a machamp Lv. up and hit for 130....Amazing

Spread Decks are going to be SOOOOOOOOO good with gengar coming out.

Empoleon could become pretty good with the IFDS empoleon.

For BRs I think the format is going to be pretty open since LA was such an amazing set

I tihnk I have made my point this format is going to be fun

i love it.... haha

i think
gengar
kingdra
AMU 200 for 2 energy
glicsor
ryperior 250 for 1 energy
machamp- drop will be devastating against mewtwo, groudon, AMU ect and with devolutor
raichu-2 attacks in one turn? this is sssoooooooooooooooo broken

All the decks that can handle Kingdra,I dont see it dominanted unless people use it like they did with Gardilade.

Victrebel
Gliscor
Leafeon variants
MagLeaf
AMU
Kingdra
TurnCruel
Eeveelution Variants
Magnezone
Vileblume
Garchomp Variants
Froslass
Bronzong/Yanmega
Empoleon

are all the decks that are going to be played during BRs,because they are viable.

The newst sets are a lot like when Delta Speicies first appeared. In the DS set, almost every rare became a viable deck. Same with LA.

The game hab become quite slow IMO. You can either use a speed deck that can attack for 1 energy or you will not do much till turn 3/4. And if your first pokemon gets knocked out before you've got a backup you're done.
And decks are also pretty slow, the amounth of energy you need is just annoying, you have to stick so many nrgs in your deck, and even if I run 15 I often end up having no nrg left. Also having no more Celio slows me down too, I often Claydol for 5 Cards and would need one Evolution / Bebe and end up with Rosi, 3 Energys and Night Maintenance or sth like that.
I want my Holon Trode back, this would improve all decks SO much without being unfair or something. :nonono:

I think Torterrible (Torterra/Sceptile) isn't getting enough credit. I'm playing it at BRs, since it pretty much owns everything. Let's look at the matchups against the metagame:

Kingdra variants incl. Kingdol: If you can get a Torterra out, they're going to have a very hard time dealing with it. Unless they get a superfast setup, they're gonna have a lot of trouble. With them discarding twice, it takes them a full three hits to knockout a Torterra. They have to discard three times against the Lv.X. Not to mention that Sceptile has water resistance. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Empoleon variants: Due to Empoleon's ability to hit for up to 100, this is a tougher matchup than Kingdra, but still very winnable. Torterra 2HKOs Empoloeon, and Empoleon 2HKOs Torterra, provided they can get their energy out. However, after a knockout, it is easier for the Torterra player to recover than for Empo player to recover. Oh, and if the Empo deck is a spread deck with Bronzong, it will be beaten very badly. You can't spread against a 140HP beast deck. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Scorpio/Gliscor: Since Scorpio hits Torterra with Special Conditions and not that much damage, this match is easily winnable. While Scorpio need a minimum of two turns to KO Torterra does it in one. No problem. This match is in Torterra's favor.

AMU: AMU suffers from a relatively slow setup. In addition, Torterra OHKOs any of the pixies. And the deck won't be played much because of how expensive it is to build. 'nuff said. This match is in Torterra's favor.

G&G/PLOX: Some people will probably still play it for BRs. Since they have to flip four prizes just to KO a single Torterra (five for the Lv.X), G&G deck doesn't do so good against Torterra. Sure, Gardy can come and Psychic Lock your Claydols, but it needs three turns to KO a Torterra, while Torterra only needs one. This match was winnable before Scramble/DRE/etc. rotated, now it's not remotely difficult. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Anything with Magmortar incl. MagLeaf: This may see some play, although with the dominance of Kingdra and Empo, it won't see much. This match is still winnable, but you need a very fast setup and you need to strike before they start attaching a lot of energies. Once you knock out their initial Leafeon/Magmortar it will be very hard for them to recover. Then again, Torterra is weak to Magmortar, so this is a tougher matchup than most. This match is about even, but probably a little bit in the Magmortar player's favor.

Infernape variants: Since this is a straight fire deck, it will barely see any play in the current metagame due to Empo and Kingdra. And, if someone wants to play with fire (no pun intended), Magmortar is better. Even though Torterra is weak to Infernape, this isn't as one sided as you'd think; Torterra OHKOs Infernape with a PlusPower or Buck's Training. However, weakness usually dominates. This match is in Infernape's favor.

Garchomp variants: Since Garchomp can be played so many ways, it's really hard to prepare for this matchup. So, the advantage depends on the type of Garchomp deck.

Any prominent decks that aren't listed? LMK! However, I think it's pretty clear that Torterrible breaks the metagame.

AMU: AMU suffers from a relatively slow setup. In addition, Torterra OHKOs any of the pixies. And the deck won't be played much because of how expensive it is to build. 'nuff said. This match is in Torterra's favor.

You are obviously underestimating AMU. The deck is very fast and recovers from a KO much better than you do. One shotting those big torterras over and over is definitely gonna hurt.

this is true. Sadly, while torterra seems like the super play, amu is tough. anydeck that tries to hit hard and tank (leafeon) is made sad by AMU
